The boat ride is short and sweet but unique. I think most shopping mall play areas do not have a boat ride. For each child to ride the boat, parent supervision is required. There was a line during our visit and our wait was approximately 20 minutes. The ride itself is probably two minutes long but the kids enjoyed it and saw different characters along the way. The whole play area seems a bit dated and could use a refresh.

Instead, we have kids staying indoor learning piano, violin, etc as young as 5 years old. So I always appreciate outdoor activities for kids and this is one of them - Noah's Ark. Opened in 2009, Noah's Ark is a rather new tourist attraction and it mainly caters for family and kids. How can you call itself Noah's Ark without the actual full-size simulation of Noah's Ark? I was pretty surprised when I first saw it as I thought it would be a much smaller scale but as the park's centerpiece, it does not disappoint. As an informative and religious place, this place allows visitors to learn about nature, family value and also the harmony. The highlight of this place to me is the "Ark Expo" where you can enjoy multimedia entertainment, for example, you may have a look at the short movie in the "180 degree Theatre" and see how Noah's ark came to its being. And I really do love the Ark Garden where you can have pictures with the replicas of the animals. Nevertheless, there are a few things which sort of put me off a bit. First is the religious theme is everywhere. I should not be surprised being coming here but as an atheist, I really do believe they have over-done it a little bit and you can almost feel that they are shoving those beliefs down your throat; second it the location, it seems like this place is too secluded, being located in Ma Wan, Noah's Ark is the only thing you can be here and the trip to here takes up most of your day already... regardless, I still love this place for kids to run around.

And I am glad to have come here because one of my private tutee lives here. Basically I come here at least once a week and I would say that it is a rather nice and comfy neighborhood. Taking the Light Rail, I would say for first timer, the direction to Lam Tei Village is very difficult to navigate. You can either go over the foot bridge or cross the main road. Anyhow, once you see the narrow road that leads straight to Lam Tei, you just enter this village. And get ready to be wow by this place. At first it looks like one of those countryside streets where people on both sides are selling different products, you may find barber shop, bakery, grocery shops, wine shop for rich guys who live here as well. But then you will soon realize lots of tourists coming here for the restaurants here like the Steak House that denies your access if you do not make reservation before - kind of pricey - around HKD300 to HKD400 for a plate; or the Chinese restaurant, etc. Walk further in and you are surrounded with village houses, three storey or so. You can also see a Lam Tei temple. I guess the traditional side of this place is still well preserved. For outsiders, please be warned about stray dogs. I am so scared of dogs so whenever I finish my class at night, I have to take out my flashlight to make sure I am safe...

Outdoor, public park, free of charge, open spaced, not cramped by Hong Kong highrises, along the…read morewater. Relaxing, cycling, picnicing, busking, dog walking...just being! Absolutely pay the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade and really the West Kowloon Cultural District Park that is emerging in this area a visit. We had cause to be in this area to attend one of the "Freespace Happenings" that takes place the second and fourth Sunday of each month from September to March in the Nursery Park portion of this emerging cultural district. What a great outdoor, open space for all of Hong Kong to enjoy. This was then how we discovered the walking promenade. Not super easy to get to, we took the MTR from Hong Kong on the orange line to Kowloon Station and kind of followed the signs to the West Kowloon Cultural District, that will also get you to the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade. It is maybe a 10-15 minute walk, because you have to take the foot bridge up and over the busy tunnel road. Along the promenade itself, it is lovely. Seemed pretty clean and it was a great view of Hong Kong and the harbour. We kind of meandered around and just enjoyed the outdoor space. There were thousands of people out and about enjoying the day. Wedding photos were being taken, graduation commencement gatherings were around, picnics of friends, people signing as buskers to the public. There are some public toilets up near the nursery portion of the park as well. The West Kowloon Cultural District (as this whole area is formerly called) is in the middle of a huge expansion and build out of M+ Pavillion (run-up facility to opening of art museum itself), M+ Building (the actual modern art museum), Xiqu Centre (for traditional xiqu performaces and cantonese opera), Lyric Theatre Complex (dance & theatre) and Freespace (for concerts and events). So although the promenade is a great outdoor space, just wait. It appears it is literally just the start of some cultural greatness for Hong Kong to come in 2017-2020. So why not stroll over there and check it out now.

Once was during the daytime, and once at night. Both were enjoyable times! You could bring snacks and eat outdoors, or use your selfie-stick for some kick-ass photos. There are also bikes to rent, and relatively clean public toilet facilities. The place doesn't earn more stars, for me, for several reasons. One - because it's quite a walk to get there from the nearest bus stop (there's a large depot underneath Elements) or MTR station. Two - because it has so much unmet potential. There are major plans in the works for this area, and with its prime waterfront location and stunning views, it could be so much more, so I await the upcoming arts and culture complex with bated breath. Three - because the way to get to the actual promenade is, quite frankly, pretty ugly and run-down. Again, there is so much potential! But who wants to walk for 7 minutes past barbed-wire fences and multi-lane highways full of exhaust to get to a pleasant picnic spot? I'll be keeping my eye on the Promenade and hopefully it will transform into something amazing, earning many 5-star reviews :)

It's a huge issue with how little there is to drink, if any! Not sure if the venue staff or the event staff are in charge but the lines for merch, beverages, security were all kinda chaotic. They weren't good or even organized like in the US where there's some semblance of sanity there. Here, it seems like planners just let the lines get super long with no solution. I waited 2.5 hours here for merch, and I know some people waited longer. It's a mess. The venue itself is also really far from HK. You basically have to take the relatively expensive HK express and when you get back to the city, all of the subways are closed. It's really inconvenient when an event runs til midnight then nearly every transit system is closed so you can't easily go back to the hotel without some expensive cab or uber ride. It's almost as if what's the point of running the Airport Express it all the trains are gonna close anyways? I'm guessing is so that taxis don't have to go the full distance from the airport but still, we paid to take the train to transfer, not to end at central. Hopefully future events will account for post event traffic and transport better than this. Only redeeming factor being at one of the restrooms and A/C here, which were good. The venue itself is fine, but staff was meh.

things to do in sha tin:…read more cycling - best you go to taiwai station (just the stop next to shatin station), rent a bike at one of those bicycle shops just opposite taiwai station exit A, ride along shatin and shing mun river all the way to tai mei duk. you can have dinner at one of the many restaurants there lunch / dinner buffet - i recommend trying lunch or dinner buffets in royal park hotel and courtyard by marriott hong kong sha tin shopping - definitely go to new town plaza. they have shops like H&M, zara, armani exchange, gap, tommy, makeup brands such as chanel, dior, giorgio armani, etc... location: easily accessible to the airport via airport bus A41 or A41p (takes about 45mins) takes about 30mintues on the KCR to get to central scenery: go to sha tin park and chill walk along shing mun river

This promenade offers magnificent views of the water and is a great place to just relax and hang out. There are many restaurants along the promenade as well. They are more of the bar and grill and seafood variety, but if you don't see anything there, there is the Stanley Plaza mall here too. The mall offers a few other options like Indian, Shanghainese, Belgian waffles, and more. If you want to save some money, there are public double decker buses from Central here. It was only 8.50 HK dollars a person!
