Stanley! You have truly stolen my heart! I loved everything about you when I came here for my very first time! From the beautiful water views, to the shopping, the temples, the delicious food places...OMG! Yes! Perfect place to escape the hectic lifestyle in Hong Kong and get away for the busy crowds.
I seemed to plan my trip to the tee! Everything I said I was going to do I was able to do and heading to Stanley was one of the many things on my itinerary!
Stanley may be a little difficult to get here as there is no MTR that takes you directly there however a couple blocks from the Central MTR there are double decker buses (6A, 66, 6X, or the Express 260) that are at the bus station and takes you directly to Stanley.
The bus ride there is such a great experience. I would recommend that you follow the tips I provide you as you will not regret it:
-If you can, sit upstairs right in the front row on your left hand side (going there) and coming back sit on the top front on your right. The views are something you do not want to miss!
The ride is fun as it offers beautiful views and narrow roads made for an interesting ride. You will notice when you take the bus ride that the roads are so narrow that when two buses pass each other somethings one of them has to stop on the side of the road to let the other one pass (very interesting how the communication between the two drivers happens). The buss scraps along the trees and clinging to the side of steep hillside is totally worth every penny of the ride.
Stanley is perfect for a day trip! I spent most of the day here and loved every minute of it! There are lovely beaches, shopping mall with a HUGE Forever 21 shop inside, the waterfront restaurants and of course the Stanley Market! What more could you ask for?
Don't forget to check out the Murray House (It's been renovated and looks VERY nice). The temple is a must-see when you come here! The views on the promenade are priceless!
Enjoy the lovely walk around the promenade. You will see some locals walking their fur babies! When you are done, have a nice lunch at one of the small restaurants along the front.
I truly would recommend this lovely area. I enjoyed my full day here! read more
