Great local shop! Doug and his team do great work here with VERY reasonable prices & time frames. I came for an estimate on Mon, dropped of on Tues, then ready on Fri! For a front bumper repair: scratch/paint chip. The estimate was very close to the final price & the work was exceptional! read more

I was stranded with a dead car battery parked across the street. Shop was already closed but a worker noticed I was having issues and offered to help anyway. I never got his name, but he truly helped me out and showed me real kindness when I was in turmoil in the boiling sun. Thank you, sir. I appreciate that more than you know! read more

Doug is the best! Can't beat his prices anywhere. Would definitely come to him for any future fixes that I need.

I have used Darnell's Auto Body there different times and every experience has been excellent. Great workmanship and always at a fair price. Highly recommended. read more

Darnell's Auto Body took on a project involving my 1966 Impala on short notice recently and did an amazing job painting and installing a new hood and hinges. They kept me informed during every step and they completed the work in a very timely manner. The final result was so great and they were able to keep costs under control, which was very much appreciated. They're nice people and I highly recommend them when you need some top-quality auto body work done by a highly professional shop. read more

These guys are doing it right. It is not everyday that you come along a group of guys that are down right honest. I have had my mom's car in here twice (dont' ask) and my truck when they replaced the bumper. They are upfront, quick with repairs and most importantly, there work speaks for itself. Paint matches on my mom's older car and looks almost new now. Most of their work goes into body repair and paint now a days, but if you need something fixed these are your guys. read more

I backed into a Jeep Waggoner and put a big dent in my rear bumper and torqued the trunk lid slightly. Doug Darnell gave me a great estimate for repairs and I took the Camry in on Monday for a new bumper and tap out of the trunk lid. Work was done by Wednesday. The bumper is new, looks great and the trunk lid is straight. I couldn't be happier and he charged me less than the estimate he gave me. I've had Doug do several car repairs for me and the work has always been top notch, done on time and very reasonable. He gets my repeat business and I highly recommend him. read more

I can't say enough about Doug and his team! They are great to deal with and treat you like family! We won't use anyone else for body repair on our fleet vehicles or personal cars. Thanks for your hard work and valuing your customers! It's hard to find that nowadays and would HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking for a great job! read more

I came by without an appointment to get an estimate for front bumper repair. Doug gave me an estimate on the spot that felt very reasonable to me. He told me to call the day before I dropped the car off for repair, which I did. Dropped the car off on a Monday. He told me the car would be ready on Wednesday, and it was. Bumper looked great. Couldn't be happier with the service I received and the quality of the work performed. read more

I absolutely love this auto body shop. The head guy who works in the main part of the office has always been extremely understanding and helpful with any issue I need fixed. The quality and pricing for the work is more than fair and replacing auto parts can be pricing but their prices is what you would typically find online doing it your self. They take the time to make sure your vehicle comes back better than before the incident or accident. I highly recommend at least talking with them and getting a quote. They have always been fair with me and I hope you have the same experience. Support your local business if you can, let's keep moving forward! read more

my car had a minor accident and it needs to be fixed. Doug did a quick evaluation, ordered the parts on the spot and it was fixed the very next day. The most impressive part is how honest he is and you can see he takes a pride of his work. Will always go back if I have any more car related needed. read more

Doug is the man, not only did they do a great job but they charged me a fraction of the price! While getting quotes I was receiving some upwards of 2 grand, it was $800 here and got my car washed and detailed when it was handed back! Couldn't have asked for a better experience read more

I needed to have my bumper re-attached and they were able to get me in the same week. I dropped my car off around 9am and they had it done before 1pm! They were very friendly and responsive and did a great job repairing my bumper, and explained to me what they did. Also they only charged me $65, which was the lowest of the price range they quoted! read more

After hitting something on the freeway, my car was dinged and left a not so pretty gash on my side panel. I was looking at my options and I saw all the great reviews and I decided to come get a quote. The reviews noted that he had the best prices in the area. That was a big sell. I came in expecting to spend over a grand to get my car fixed. He quoted me somewhere between $300-$400. I was a little skeptical of the quality of work but I thought, "all these Yelpers cant be wrong." So I dropped my car off on a Wednesday afternoon and he told me that it might be ready late Friday or Monday. I called on Friday and he told me to swing by 4PM. I got dropped off and I see him washing my car. I take a close look at the area and oh my goodness, it looked brand new. This guy did an amazing job! I told him, hopefully I dont have to see him too often but in the event that I do, he has my business. read more

Doug is honest, knowledgeable, and does excellent work. We were referred to Darnell's Auto Body by our mechanic after initially taking our car to a larger auto body shop in Tacoma. The other shop was clearly going to charge us for unnecessary work and parts as their quote was 90-94 percent higher than what Doug charged us for completing the work. Doug took apart the front bumper and showed us exactly where the damage was and what needed to be done. I can't say enough good things about Doug and his team. While I hope to never need Darnell's Auto Body services again, it's comforting to know they are there, should the need arise. read more

I can't speak to their work, I tried to bring my car to them, but they were just too busy to call me back.

I am beyond pleased. Doug is super friendly and honest. Every other body shop I went to quoted me over a thousand for the work I needed done. Doug did it for $200 and he even did a better job then I asked for and expected without charging extra. And it only took a few hours! Expect very friendly service, attention to detail, honest quotes, and expert work. I couldn't recommend this place enough. If you need body work done, don't hesitate to take your car to Darnell's Auto Body! read more

I went to Darnell's on Monday to get an estimate for a repair to my right rear passenger door (I had unfortunately tangled with a metal pole). I was given a more than reasonable estimate which was $s less than I had anticipated. I was able to take my car in at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday of the same week, my car was finished by 1:30 p.m. I couldn't have been happier with the result, the price, or the customer service. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone needing bodywork on their car. read more

Darnell's reattached my bumper, touched up the paint on the bumper as well as touching up some other boo boo's and got my car back to me in less than a day! Plus they charged less than their estimate because it didn't take as long as they thought it would. What a breath of fresh air in the automotive repair industry! They have earned a customer for life! read more

The passenger side of my car was badly damaged when a guy ran a stop sign. The car was towed to Darnell's Body Shop and they did an amazing job. New panels, new door, new tire. They even washed and polished it before I picked it up. Great customer service! read more

This is a very honest company. I worked directly with the owner Doug. A car had collided with my car (I was in their blind spot). I went to see what a repair would cost. First he said that it could be done for $75-150. Then after doing the repair, he decided not to charge me at all. AT ALL! I stood there and watched him buff out the skidding (that the other car did), then his employee fixed the opening of the passenger door (that was now rubbing due to the impact). It took 15-20 minutes (however he spent easily 30 minutes before that talking me through my options and answering my questions. Then at the end, when I would have paid $75-150 for this work, he said that it was FREE Who does that?!? No one! Doug, the owner of Darnell's, must be one of the most honest (and kindest) business owners around! Thank you, Doug! read more

Darnell Auto Body shop is the best and they rock for the following reasons: 1) The most honest and most reasonable repair price. 2) My first experience 20 years ago and to this date has provided an outstanding customer service. My car looks like it never had any repair done and it is repaired to my 100% satisfaction. 3) I live in Lacey, WA and I still drive to Tacoma to get all my cars repair done at Darnell's because of excellent service and friendly staff who shows caring by their action. I simply trust them without shadow of doubt. 3) I only recommend people I totally trust and have had positive experience. I highly recommend this place to get your car fixed here. 4) I am 100% satisfied!! Thank you Darnell Auto Body Shop!!! Dawn B in Lacey, WA 98503 read more

I've lived with a small dent in my right front fender for a couple years now because the shops I visited back then wanted over $1300 to repair. The dent was mostly on the fender but also unfortunately was right where the fender ends and had also affected the very front of the passenger side door. A friend of mine told me about Darnell's. I stopped in and Doug quoted almost 30% less. I dropped off my car Monday morning and it was ready right as he had promised on Wednesday afternoon. Not only does it look great, but Doug also pointed out how the old fender would have been weak if we'd tried to repair it because the inside panel had pulled apart from the outside. Thanks for the great work at a very reasonable price and that was done on time as promised! read more

Super friendly workers that are thorough and quick. Can't beat their prices too!! Definitely will be coming back!

Third time over the years I've brought my 2008 Lexus to Doug for a bit of body work, this time driving in 75 miles after moving out of the area. Another stellar job by Darnell's. Fast, efficient, quality work and fairly priced. Thank you again Doug and team! read more

I went in to get an estimate about 3 weeks ago was told they by Doug I would get a call back in a day or two with some options. He seemed super cool, friendly and helpful. but then I never got call...... I've called 4 times since and have been promised call backs and nothing. I live all the way in Seattle came to Tacoma because I read the reviews. But am very disappointed for wasting my time since they don't seem to want my business. read more

I had some damage to my front bumper (scraped against a garage pillar, my bad) as well as my back bumper (someone else's bad). Darnell's quotes were a fraction of the cost of two other reputable/well-reviewed auto body shops in Tacoma...and by fraction, I mean half the price. My car looks as good as new. The ultimate cost was their low point on the initial estimate they gave me. I hope to never have to need them again, but if I do, I know they will be true & thorough! read more

They are by far the best auto body shop in Tacoma. They were very quick and thorough with their work and do not price gouge. All the guys were super nice and very helpful. If you need body work done for your car, take it to them! read more

I just got home from picking up my Ford Explorer from Darnell's. I am so happy I can hardly contain myself. My vehicle had been backed into by another car, breaking the front bumper and grill. Doug not only replaced those things but fixed another existing dent, that I had only asked for an estimate on, the day I brought it in. I had decided (financially) that dent would need to wait. He also painted my back bumper. All of this extra stuff at NO CHARGE! My rig looks new again!! This is the 4th or 5th time I have used Darnell's for body work on several cars over the past 10 years. I sure am glad to have remained a loyal customer. They even washed it for me and boy did it need it! Okay, so I posted this yesterday and today when I got in my vehicle I noticed that they also fixed my drivers seat control panel!! I'm even more excited and happy with the service than I was yesterday! read more

Had a fender bender? Need some door dings fixed? These guys are about as good as it gets. I've had my van in here twice for two different incidents. The repairs were so good I can't tell where the damage is and I"ve looked hard. They even fixed some scratches I had on my rear bumper that wasn't part of the original estimate for free. Doug takes great pride in his work and it shows. You have the right to get your car fixed where you want so don't let your ins. company bs you into going to their "preferred" shop. At least get an estimate here. You will NOT be sorry. I hope I never see him again but chances are I will need auto body repair at some point and Darnell's is where I will go. Thanks Doug! read more

Doug was amazingly helpful. The customer service was perfect, the end product was amazing and the whole experience was painless. Can not recommend this place enough. read more

Darnell's is the best body shop in Tacoma! I needed a dent removed and a scratch repainted. The local chain body shop quoted me a price of over $1200! Darnell's did the work for $450 and it looks like the car just rolled off the assembly line. No sign of the dent or the scratch! Don't bother going anywhere else!! read more

As a new driver, I had an unfortunate encounter with a post in a parking garage and damaged the hood, bumper, and a couple of trim pieces on my car. On a coworker's recommendation, I took the car to Darnell's. After I expressed concern about the cost, Doug talked me through several options that ranged from basic (cheapest) to good-as-new (most expensive). I appreciated his honesty and the fact that he didn't just try to sell me on the most expensive repair. I ended up going for a more extensive repair option and my car looks perfect--the repair isn't visible at all. The back end of my car was damaged recently in a minor fender-bender, and I took the car back to Darnell's for an insurance quote and later, repair. Once again, Doug and his team did an expert job and my car looks great. They also fixed a scratch on my side door for free! I haven't shopped around much to see how Darnell's prices compare to other shops, but I've been so pleased with their work that I don't want to. Plus, I believe strongly in supporting small local businesses whenever possible. I highly recommend the team at Darnell's! read more

My initial run in with Darnell's working with Doug was AWESOME. He is currently going to be working on my car but he was helpful, explained everything to me on how it was going to work and understanding of my situation. I will update when I am done with his service but as far as I can see there will be no complaints or issues. I would recommend him to anyone. read more

Doug and his crew did a fantastic job with the dings and dents in my car. Their work is fantastic and very reasonable. I had a quote from another company for over $5000. Darnells did the work at literally less than half that price and they did it on time. Linda read more

Fantastic results at a great price! The car had significant damage to both passenger doors and one fender. The doors and fender look brand new and the paint match is perfect. No easy task on an older car. Beautiful job by Doug and team at Darnell's. The work was quick and professional; the results were amazing and the price was much less than the two other high quality / highly rated body shops I contacted in the Tacoma area. What else can I say? Great shop! Thanks again for the excellent work! read more
