After receiving my Explanation of Benefits (EOB), I confirmed directly with my insurance company that they also paid the office for the procedure. For months, I called and left messages regarding my refund, but received zero response. Over the past two weeks, my calls have finally been answered, but I am continuously brushed off. I keep being told that they need to "audit" my account before issuing my refund, even though providing an itemized patient ledger showing the credit balance should be simple. I went in for a cracked tooth knowing I probably needed a root canal. Find out they only do them once a month there when the endo is in...they were booked two months out. The charge for one crown and a root canal was over 3k. Temp crown fell out within two days. When I finally went in for the root canal (never had one and was extremely nervous and they knew this and it was noted in my file, that I was difficult to numb) had to stop the endo twice, once because I had a literal panic attack in the chair, again because I could feel everything. The root canal itself after they got me properly numb was fine. But before the root canal they tried to tell me all the sudden I needed a second root canal next to that tooth and one on the other side. I was not having it. The crown itself is a horrible gaping fit. It protrudes outward much further than any of my other molars and the bite is horrific. I ended up having my cosmetic dentist replace the crown because it was such shoddy work. The crown portion was done by Dr. Wu who has got to have some of the worst bedside manner and roughest hands out there. She was incredibly pushy and rude, and made me feel like crap for not wanting to do more work than originally agreed upon and getting a a second opinion. I have since had said tooth that also needed a root canal done, fitted with a filling, their horrible crown replaced, and a renewed fear of the dentist thanks to them. Val looked over my X-rays and deemed 1 - 1.5 hours to be appropriate for the 3 teeth. My appointment on 9/16/25 took over 2 hours to complete. It was the most rough dental experience of my life. It felt like Dr. Rodriguez and the dental assistant, Sarah, were trying to rip my jaws apart at times. Parts of the appointment truly felt inhumane. Towards the end of the appointment a tool was dropped on my neck. The tool was sharp. Both Dr. Rodriguez and Sarah apologized twice. I was absolutely terrified. Imagine being a patient, laying in a chair for over two hours, and tools being dropped on you. I was encouraged my another dentist to let Dr. Rodriguez know that the experience was rough. She said, if you don't tell him, he doesn't know. So, I emailed Dr. Rodriguez and his response was to remove me as a patient. I had 2 more treatments scheduled, and he refused to complete the treatment.

Yesterday, I received a bill in the mail (first time) saying that I owe almost $2,000. (The bill has no information of any kind explaining where this amount is coming from) So, naturally I was concerned and called the dentist office immediately. This is the first time I am seeing or hearing this amount billed to me. I spoke to a newly hired office employee that explained to me that I had been carrying a balance for almost 2 years for services that were rendered. Everytime I get any kind of treatment or service, I make it a habit to PAY IN FULL the amount that is owed the date services are rendered. If not, then I set up a PAYMENT PLAN to cover any remaining amount the date services are rendered. The young lady on the phone explained to me EOB's that are covered through insurance and the remaining amounts are billed to the clients. My questions were why am I just now receiving a bill? Why are you threatening to send me to collections in 10 days if the bill is not paid in full? Why did I not receive a statement, phone call, or bill prior? Why would I continue to get services/ treatment at an establishment if I have an open balance? Why doesn't the bill show detailed information about what was billed for and why? The billing system that created this document hasn't been updated since 2022 showing the lack of monitoring the billing system has. (Shown at the bottom of the bill) Keep in mind, I received this bill (for the first time) 12/23/24. Two days before Christmas. Judging by the past reviews of disgruntled prior existing patients, it seems that I am not the only one who has had issues with the billing department and the LACK OF TRANSPARENCY through billing. I would never agree to pay for services, NOT knowing the full amount that is due at the time of services. This type of business practice appears to be shady and not forthcoming. This kind of business practice literally leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Normally dental visits are very 6 months for me, have been since I was a kid. but they cut them into 3x visits every 4 months. Kicker they didnt tell me my insurance only covers 2 visits a year. (My old dentist would always lay out how many visits per year to avoid out of pocket, especially to new patients) So that 3rd one was a hefty out of pocket I wasn't aware of. I paid it, moved on. Being in my late 30s they made it a stressing deal for my wisdom teeth to come out on account of cavities they couldn't get too. Were they bothering me? Nope. Even going to the dentust back home all my life and they never mentioned them coming out. But they were pressing me on the issue here and the front desk personnel told me what I would owe for the surgery since my insurance wont cover all of it. I made sure I got a total bill after my surgery so I could pay and be done with it. I got the surgery done, they took all 4. And it was the most miserable experience and 8 months of excruciating pain I dont wish on anybody. Since lucky me, I had complications. I went back for my check up in july (wasnt covered, wasnt told) and paid my minimum like always. Fast forward to november i get a bill in the mail for over 500$ that I owe since my insurance denied a huge portion of my surgery. Confused I called the front desk and asked what this was. I told her I paid up front for the amount i was given after my surgery. And she told me "it's an insurance thing, I'm handling it" so december comes around i get another bill in the mail, same amount. And i went in for a cleaning and checkup. I asked in person if this was still being handled since I'm getting mailed statements now. And she said "yes, they're calling me today". So i figured they were handling it. In feb 2023 I got a call from the dental billing department that said they were sending my bill to collections to due to neglectful payments!!! I flipped out and told them what i have been told. So the collections lady said she would "look into it" and to call the dentist office and see what they're doing from their side with insurance. So of course I called back and the lady who said she was handling it I guess up and left? there's someone new in charge handling all her work she left behind. So I explained the situation and all I got was "I will look into it". Its now April, nothing has been solved, I keep getting pushback from the billing agency, the office will not return my calls or figire this out, and my insurance says they "dont have enough Information to look into this further." This is straight up obnoxious!! And the kicker was when I went back in feb for my cleaning the doc checked my mouth and said "I dont see any cavities back there". But you said there were and that's why I went though that traumatic painful surgery??? I'm so tired of the runaround and lies. Completely awful way to do business. I canceled my appointment and I will never be going back there. I do not have that cash just lying around and I should have been quoted the actual amount upon my surgery A YEAR AGO, so I could get a better idea an a payment plan set up. Incredibly upset. I have to continually take time out of my day to call the collections and billing to see if anything had changed. And they just keep saying "there are notes on here, and we are working with your insurance". So what am I supposed to do? If your insurance wont cover the procedure, make sure you check the whole thing before the person receives the surgery. Seeing a breakdown of only a portion and bolling them for more later on an "oopsy error" is very deceitful!
