Unlike some other sailing companies, we ACTUALLY sailed in the Gulf (engine off) and enjoyed the breeze and the views. As a sailor on Lake Michigan, Captain Randy let me take the helm of the 35-foot Beneteau for much of the sail. (THANKS, Captain!) He has tons of local knowledge and provided great information to our group. The boat was super clean - the topsides dazzling white and the woodwork varnish below deck looked wet it was so fresh looking. My only regret is that we did not book a longer cruise. Tom H. It was a little crowded if you were fishing on the sides of the boat. The captain did his best to put us on fish, and moved a number of times. All in all, it was fun and we each caught some fish. The mates were really good - they took your fish off, cut up bait, helped with tangled rods, cleaned your fish. If you can afford to charter a captain and boat, that would definitely be more fun. And I cannot imagine taking the 3pm fishing trip if it's July or August - it would be hotter than hell. But for the cost, this was fun. Definitely a well-managed operation.

Everything from the safety briefing to hopping from spot to spot exceeded my expectations. It was one of the coolest things we have ever done, and my kids loved it. The boat was clean and comfortable, and Troy and Sam went above and beyond for the experience. Captain Troy took us to a series of spots that were just teeming with fish. The fish were hitting our baits within seconds, and we were landing beautiful fish almost too quickly for Sam to get them off the lines. Captain Troy let us know that the day we booked, had predicted winds of 22 knots and offered an optional day. My husband and I had been on Charters before that didn't care about the weather, they just wanted the money. We agreed on the optional date and it was perfect. Today was the BIGGEST day of the trip! A charter fishing excursion for our birthday boy! Birthday…read morein June but had to wait for the trip! It was a day of surrounding storms. There was so much lightning that we almost didn't get a chance to go. Thank goodness that all the Fish Gods were on our side. Enjoyed a breathtaking sunrise. I could have had 1,000 more photos but there were fish to be caught! Taking off through the bays at what seemed like 100 miles an hour, we felt so confident in Captain Chris. He avoided all the rain and we fished to the last possible second. We hands down caught over 100 fish! That is not a fish tale! They just kept coming! Some bigger, some smaller...some micro sized! Cooper loved all of the fish, just one after another. It never stopped. Action on all of our poles the entire journey. Ethan, Norm and I had the time of our lives too! Fishing or should I say, catching all morning long! Croaker, white trout, speckled trout, don't quote me on that one, pigfish, catfish, spot, drum, a crab but just missed getting him in the boat. Even some oysters! We had a lot of shark bites on our bait. It so happens that I caught the biggest catch of the day. 25 pound Black Drum. It happened so quickly. Coop suggested where I could fish in the front by him. At least when I was bringing him up he sat me down, kept a watchful eye and even wanted to hold me in the seat! If I could have changed it, I would have had him land it! I have to say I'm quite proud of my PB though! Captain Chris, a deep mahogany tan that was earned from the sea. A fisherman through and through. I could see him as a brother to Quint, the Captain from Jaws for those of you not familiar. He had just the right amount of sass and sarcasm to keep you on your toes and eventually you could toss it back to him. He told be he would use me as shark bait but they probably would spit me out! I don't doubt that! Chris could have hung out with our friends and drank beers so we could hear his lifetime of stories. Maybe he would want to fish Lake Michigan some time?! We all loved asking about charters and personal best catches, hearing his stories and other trips that didn't go according to planned. He knew the waters, incredible boat handler, extremely helpful with the fish. Locations and getting them removed with a blink of an eye. He was everything you could want in a fishing Captain and more! We all had the absolute best experience and would book again with Fins and Family Fishing! They have the tours reeled in! Pun intended!

Not really sure what they were doing because they gave us a wrist band for the water park even though we only paid for the theme park. We were as confused as they were. We went during Thanksgiving week so the weather was cooler, but there wasn't much of a wait for any rides. Our daughter wasn't tall enough to ride everything (only 38"), but we still managed to have a good time. They have a lot of rides for the smaller kids. My wife and I enjoyed the roller coaster the best. We took advantage of the low wait times and rode the roller coaster several times. Definitely worth checking out.

I traveled from Birmingham and spent a significant amount of money to bring my children to Tropic Falls for the indoor waterpark. Unfortunately, my experience ended up being extremely disappointing and embarrassing. After climbing several flights of stairs to ride a float attraction with my son, I was asked to step on a scale in front of multiple guests waiting in line. I was then told publicly that I exceeded the weight limit and could not ride any float attractions. Another guest even asked if I could ride solo instead, and again, in front of everyone, I was told I exceeded the limit. I completely understand and respect ride safety policies and weight restrictions. My concern is not that safety rules exist. My concern is the lack of clear disclosure beforehand and how the situation was handled publicly. The website states: "All Riders: Maximum Weight of Rider = 250 lbs. Double Riders: Maximum Combined Weight of Riders = 400 lbs." Based on that wording, I believed my son and I qualified for a double float ride as long as we were under the combined limit. If the policy is that no rider over 250 lbs can ride any float attraction regardless of combined weight, I feel that should be made much clearer before ticket purchase. What hurt the most was being weighed and having my weight discussed in front of strangers and my child. My son no longer wanted to ride afterward, and I walked away feeling embarrassed and unable to participate in the attractions I came to enjoy with my son. I have reached out to management privately because I wanted to give them the opportunity to address my concerns first. However, I also feel it's fair to make others aware so they can make informed decisions before visiting. I truly hope policies are communicated more clearly and situations like this are handled with more privacy and sensitivity in the future.

Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. We paid over $250 to spend just a few hours at the park before storms rolled in around 2:30 p.m. By about 4:00, the skies had cleared--but the park never reopened. With two full hours left in the published schedule, and clear weather outside, the day was over. I reached out to management, which is when the situation really took a turn for the worst. Their proposal - a rain check for a future visit. Problem is--we came all the way from Colorado. A "come back next time" credit just isn't helpful when you've spent that kind of money and have no plans to return. We've visited waterparks in multiple states--Arizona, Texas, Colorado--and have never experienced this kind of early closure after a storm passed. Most parks resume operations when it's safe. Not here. Beyond that: You're not allowed to bring in your own water, which is a challenge on hot Alabama days. Several lifeguards at the wave pool seemed more focused on chatting and flirting than on guest safety. The park itself feels a bit rundown and in need of investment. This may once have been the place to go in Orange Beach. But based on our experience, I'd suggest exploring other options for your family day. There are better values--and more responsive customer service--elsewhere. Incidentally, I made numerous attempts to resolve this issue with management, to no avail. They were unwilling to help and (eventually) completely unresponsive.
