I'm not sure how I haven't written reviews before, but this is the new and improved Dark Corner Haunt location! What used to be located in the National Bowling stadium is now only located at the old Carson City prison. It has been out of service for over a decade now, but this used to be the location of some executions. It is now open to the public for various tours and now this haunted house. Last year I went to the haunted prison and there were some really good scares. They played into the prison theme a lot but also came up with a jungle theme that turned out really good. There were 4 areas total where you had a small queue in-between each building. Different characters would dress up and spook you as you waited in line. Scare factor was fully there, and had me questioning my own senses. I love the one part where you're in total darkness and you have to feel around to make your way through. This is a small part of the whole experience, and it's something I look forward to after going to the old haunts at the bowling stadium. The location is incredible and really adds to the spookiness. I know a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes from Holly, Dustin, and all the crew. It's a labor of love and it's really cool to see what they come up with every year. I really enjoyed the different photo ops before the haunt and the little games area before waiting in line. My only suggestion would be to ensure that enough staffing is present to help direct the lines around this area. If the queue was long but you also wanted to play games, it got a bit crowded and some people cut the line without knowing. I don't even know where to start! Since moving back to Reno, it's been hard to find the perfect haunted house, but Dark Corner Haunts truly goes above and beyond for the community. Not only do they put on the BEST haunted attractions, but they also create an unforgettable experience every single year. This year's haunt at the prison was absolutely incredible, the entire team did amazing! I want to give a special shoutout to these incredible people who pour their hearts and souls into this place: Kat, Tiara, Kyler, Charlie, Angela, and Matthew. Just incredible! Has SUCH a good time last night at this year's event. Gave it a go for the first time after years of attending the Universal Studios Horror nights down in LA and I have to say I enjoyed Dark Corner more! We went VIP which was well worth the price for access to the incredible bar in between mazes and the front of line / bonus pin! So often these types of tickets feel like a cash grab, but we were made to feel special from the minute we arrived. All the staff were incredibly friendly and the performers put in so much effort it made our experience such a positive one. The venue was HUGE and really fun use for how the mazes were laid out. The bar and shopping at the end was also a nice touch. Overall I cannot recommend highly enough, will definitely be back and so cool to have such a high quality haunt so close to home! Finally, a haunted house with stellar set designs! We've had some okay-ish haunted houses in Reno but I was always put-off by the sets because they were low quality and too many scare-actors that they became predicable. Dark Corner put on by Junkee's has the visuals, the sounds, and scare factor. I loved it!! One thing most haunted houses under estimate is the fear of the unknown around the corner and this haunted house gave me that. There were just enough scare-actors to keep you on your toes and you couldn't predict where they were coming from...the eliminate of surprise! $25 a ticket may feel a bit pricey but it's well worth the quality of the performers and set. read more

The sheer amount of work & detail that went into @darkcornerhaunt, Reno's biggest & hottest haunt, blows my mind. You'd think you were on a horror set in Hollywood. The haunt can be found in the national bowling stadium downtown and because of its huge size, Dark Corner was able to create the biggest haunt in Reno. Grab your peeps & put on your bravest face to take on Halloween spirit at its greatest, with Hollywood-like scenes loaded with details for days & scares lurking around every corner. I must admit that I don't scare easily with haunted houses in general (I think watching every single scary movie imaginable at a such a young age has something to do with this), but the reason why I'm in love with this haunt is because it was made by, what seems to be, passionate & dedicated individuals that aim to provide nothing but the best experience possible. Rest assured, they implore effective tactics and techniques in delivering quality scares. I appreciate how they've worked year round in improving their haunt... how they've doubled in size since last year. I'm in awe with their unreal props, along with their staff's costumes, acting skills, & fun spirits, & I applaud their courage in taking on such a big task of translating their Halloween visions to life. They also have a Kingpin bowling alley that adds another layer of fun. No ticket is necessary to play at this alley. Just line up and go through security and you'll be granted access to this Halloween themed bowling alley and bar. General admission is $25, while VIP is $50. If you want to skip the line, gain access to the most amazing vintage bar, & get a rad souvenier, VIP is the way to go & it's not even that much more. I must warn that they have limited quantities so be sure to secure them fast. Should you choose to go with general admission, make sure to bring good company for the wait. They provide characters & entertainment that make the wait fun. It's not common to find a haunt of this scale just anywhere. We are so lucky to have it here in Reno. Awesome experience at Dark Prison! Total adrenaline rush! Got the crap scared outta me and loved it! Characters were great!

So I need to start this review with the fact that this is not an extreme scare attraction-which I think is good because more people can attend, even children. I would suggest 12 years or older unless you have one that's immune to mild scares. It's very entertaining and well done and the cast was excellent while always staying professional-you could tell they had been well trained in appropriate behavior concerning touching patrons, etc. There are loud noises, strobe lights and it's very dark in some areas which is something to be mindful of for your group. We've been coming for years, but not sure if we will go again in the future. The scares and production was great, but having to stand in line for 1.5 hours for half a haunted house- not so much. And then to be told to stand in line again for the other half of haunted house- didn't even do it. Also the girl at the entrance whose role was to insult people on their appearances? Amazing I loved how there was 2 parts of the haunt this year!!! I wish more people would run after you. The inside haunt was the best part once we got to the outside one it was around 10:30 and it just wasn't as good there was a good part where there were no scares. Advertised as a 30 minute tour but that doesn't include the 2 hour wait in line. Only worth it if you get the VIP tickets. They completely ignore general admission. This is run very poorly with no system to get people through quickly. If you are a very patient person I'd give it a shot but expect to be on your feet for multiple hours. read more
