Had our first meal here after the long overnight flight from Los Angeles. Needed something healthy after snacks on the airplane. Had one of the best açai bowls in my life as well as some tasty avocado toast. Coffee was great as well. Service was a little on the slow side. We were ok with it as we were in no hurry, but just a note to those who might be.

Gluten Free pancakes with fruit salad, yoghurt and maple syrup

I found Dare Cafe via a website called Kiss My Gluten Free when I was in Sydney. I was one very happy gluten intolerant person when I saw the number of options on the menu, but I chose the banana pancakes with fruit and yogurt. So glad I did; the plate looked an absolute picture and the pancakes were delicious. As the owner of a dedicated Gluten Free Grocery Shop and online store, with about 1.2k followers, I will definitely be recommending Dare to anyone travelling to Sydney. Sue Greene Sue's gluten Free

I have been here twice during my visits to Sydney and it has never disappointed. Great spot for brekkie before hitting the rocks markets on a Saturday. Friendly staff but there is limited seating. Seating was full when we arrived but a spot opened within a few minutes. Friendly staff greeted us upon arrival and took our order. Since it is located right on the street, it makes it fun to watch people and other activities getting ready for the market. Food came out hot and fresh. I had the big breakfast (I can't remember exactly what it was called) It was presented well and very tasty. The star of the meal was the sausage! Yes sausage! I have never had anything quite like it. Very tasty. I did not leave hungry. Plenty of people getting take away as well.

Great place for a healthy brunch, especially on a sunny January day :p Gluten free options available. I had a long black and the big Aussie brekkie board.

Dare (standing for 'Delicio us and Responsible Eating') is well placed on a sunny side street in The Rocks to haul in a good load of Sydney's tourists. Although somewhat confusingly divided between into two shops to buy food from, both of the counters exhibit a dazzling array of colourful and yummy sounding food (as well as having all the free-range, gluten free jargon) seemingly perfect for the brunch/long lunch mob. I went for a frittata with two exotic salads from the right hand counter (purely because it looked prettier) which came on a fairly miniscule side-plate. Word to the wise- ask for it in a takeaway box, the portions are far more hefty! The colourful salads were sadly quite mismatched though. They might have been a bit more exciting were they doused in dressing but the waitress only thought of that after serving the plate, bringing over a jug of balsamic vinegar as compensation. Not exactly fine dining. I left feeling a bit saddened as the shop promised so much it didn't deliver on, if that was responsible eating then perhaps I should go down the irresponsible route next time if I'm to find the flavour and quality I was hoping for.

Banana pancakes and bacon. Gluten free
    Aud A.

I really enjoyed my gluten free banana pancakes and bacon. It's probably one of my most indulgent meals this year (which isn't saying much). I was expecting to be disappointed as so many things for the digestively challenge taste... wrong. I'd even order the same item again if my prayers for digestive enzymes are answered. The bacon was delicious. I am not a rabid bacon fan but I could eat that all day long. The pancakes were very banana-ey. I'd prefer less maple syrup next time because I'm pretty sure it's not low FODMAP and it was a bit too sweet for my taste. Some other items they had looked like they'd taste like crap. Particularly the frittata.

Yesterday while I was walking around The Rocks, I stumbled upon this restaurant. They offered a Vegan Gluten Free breakfast plate on their menu. Simon, who owns the restaurant, replied "I can also make you a gluten free vegan pancake." SOLD!! Brought my cousin Rachel the following day and dined there for breakfast. Amazing! On my last day in Sydney, I arrived at around 4:00pm at DARE famished. Tables and chairs were being cleared away. Simon recognized me from last Saturday's visit. I asked if it was too late to order a meal and he said it was not a problem. "Whatever you have that is #vegan and #glutenfree I'll eat it." So he made the Veg toast this time with red cabbage and cauliflower. So delicious!! Thank you so much, Simon. Impeccable customer service!!

GF banana pancakes with bacon. SO GOOD!

For a gluten-free solo diner Dare Cafe offers the holy trinity - a great variety of gluten free dishes (obviously pointed out by many reviewers already) breakfast and lunch options AND the opportunity to people watch. Particularly if you're there on a weekend when the markets are on. Having scoped them out on the app before I ventured out I knew where I was headed straight after my market browsings. I had my heart set on the gluten free banana pancakes with bacon. It came out on a cardboard plate slash 'boat' that was functional and sturdy. Not what I was expecting. The cutlery was also biodegradable and I managed to snag a table and chair while the amount of diners steadily grew. The pancakes were delicious. Soft and mushy with a lot of banana throughout. Not as fluffy as traditional pancakes, but personally I loved them. It was served with half a cooked banana on the side of the plate for extra banana goodness! The maple syrup was the perfect amount and the bacon while fatty, was cooked beautifully. If you come here prepare to wait for a table and expect a noisy atmosphere. Staff are friendly and take orders at the counter. I highly recommend this place for a casual bite. Also don't forget to stock up on cold dishes to go! I stupidly passed on taking some gf banana bread and regretted it later.

Great place to watch people shopping at the Rocks marketplace (which is open on Fridays and Saturday). Ordered a long black and a vegan falafel plate for lunch. Dish is quite tasty with hummus, avocado, mushrooms, walnuts, cherry tomato, a beet root sauce on a toast. Dare refers to Delicious and responsible eating

    Chicken kebab

Came here for lunch and saw that lots of local type people were eating here so we joined them. Ordered curry chicken and kebab plate, very generous serving size, good atmosphere, nice staff. The curry chicken was incredible, kebab was just a little dry, but atmosphere and curry chicken made up for it. We liked it so much we hung around, received free wifi, got coffee and got some rest before continuing our tour of the Rocks. Definitely recommend it to everyone!

Really nice place for brunch and lots of gluten free options - we came back twice! The staff are friendly and the food is good. Highly recommend the banana pancakes which are gluten free.

Banana pancakes, bacon, and watermelon juice (w/ avocado smash across the table)
    Cameron C.

The banana pancakes were as tasty as advertised, if a bit on the small side. Bacon was cook right as well. And was pleased to find a rare spot that will do fresh squeezed watermelon juice. Be careful, though not to make the mistake in thinking that everything they make is gluten free (an easy mistake given their signage and marketing). If you are celiac you need to make sure you specify that so your food is prepared/handled correctly. Quite expensive for what you get, though that may be expected given it's in a very touristy area. Also not much seating.

One of my most favorite brunches ever! Amazing gluten free banana pancakes, organic juice, delicious latte. Perfect Saturday morning destination right in the midst of the markets.

There were no potatoes served with the dish, just sourdough toast under the eggs, so I felt the serving size did not justify the price. $21.00 for 2 eggs with no spice and toast. Seriously!! I would not recommend. There is no service. The whole experience did not provide value for the money.

We came in thinking it was just a coffee shop, but it's essentially a restaurant that also has a focus on coffee. We essentially only ordered coffee and one person ordered a cake slice. The lychee cake was pretty good per my aunt. A couple people ordered the Coco Loco, which is basically an espresso martini on steroids with Nutella and something like a Ferrero Rocher. I ordered a latte and their Affogato. The latte was very smooth and BI is arguably one of the best I've ever had. Is the Affogato a cheat code because they use like a tiramisu ice cream? You could argue that case. You can also buy their blends of coffee beans, subject to availability. While the latte was very smooth, I can't say it was mind blowing but it was still pretty good.
