Nice food, poor ambience, terrible management.
My husband and I went to Darcy's for our wedding anniversary, and were placed in the upstairs room with two large parties who were seemingly having a competition to see who could be the most obonoxiously loud. This didn't just include shouting across the table at each other, but also banging on the tables and, at one point, having a screaming competition. There was no intervention from management to calm them down. The waitress apologised for the noise but was clearly powerless to do anything about it. After the main course we asked to be moved to another area for our dessert as it was so loud we could not hear each other talk across the table. We were asked to follow the waiter downstairs and were dumped in the bar area along with two other couples who had insisted on moving. I had to eat my dessert with my bowl perched on my lap, and my husband ate his crouched over the low bar table. No appearance from management to apologise, and not even so much as the offer of a complementary coffee as compensation. The manager finally appeared with our bill, and when I complained she said that "She couldn't make a table of people behave if they didn't want to". All in all we were made to feel like second class customers, probably because we weren't ordering the huge quantities of wine that the parties were getting through.
So although the food was very nice, and the waiting staff did their best under the circumstances, the attitude of the management to their customers would prevent me from going back or recommending this restaurant to anyone. read more
