Emporia Place has a big space and is a nice addition to the Westshore, but unfortunately, the overall experience was just okay for us. We tried the gnocchi, arancini, and salmon burger, and honestly, nothing really blew us away. The food was quite greasy and, for the price, we expected a bit more. We also noticed drinks had been spilled on the booth chairs and hadn't been cleaned properly; the residue was actually stuck to the seats. That really took away from the overall impression of cleanliness. It's also not a particularly family-friendly spot. There are no change tables, which is something you'd expect to see in a newer establishment that caters to families in the Westshore. The service was friendly, but overall, the experience was pretty meh. I think this may be more of a spot for people looking to have drinks than somewhere we'd go for a family meal. It's just okay, and unfortunately, I don't think we'll be back. read more

Now called Emporia... bomb wings! Had three different flavors- Moroccan bbq, sweet chili, and honey garlic... servers were the sweetest, friendly, and have great recommendations. I e ordered an IPA and the dark matter. It was a general nosie nothing crazy loud typical restaurant bar vibe!! Totally recommend this place as Emporia! read more

With a name like Darcy's, you might expect it to be an Irish pub but it's not. I counted 10 TVs so I think it's safe to describe it more as a sports bar. I wasn't expecting much because I thought it looked more like a drinking hole but the food turned out to be surprisingly good. I shared a beef dip sandwich with my husband and they were nice enough to split it for us. It was fantastic and a very generous serving. We had more than enough. Rude and possibly racist. Unnecessary attitude. We went in a group of 3. We had someone with us who was pregnant and had forgotten her id. We tried to politely ask that we weren't trying to enter, there was nowhere to sit, so could they let our pregnant friend sit while we waited? They wouldn't let her sit while we waited for one person in our group to get their Id and were super aggressive. Now we understand that the law is that you can't let someone enter without 2 pieces of government ID, but not letting a visibly pregnant woman sit for 5 mins, while shouting at us like we were criminals isn't a nice experience. The only regret that I have is that I didn't record the incident to post on social media. read more

So this happened - We went to Darcy's in Victoria. The pub host was pretty cold from the beginning. One of our friend who is also in her late pregnancy forgot her ID. So first we came out to wait for her husband to get her IDs. Since there was some wait, we requested the host if they could let the pregnant woman sit somewhere close to the entrance. On this request, the host started shouting that he can't let us in without an ID. We mentioned we could pull a chair and have the lady sit outside. Request rejected. One of us mentioned again that it's a pregnant woman we are requesting and went out. On that, the host came yelling outside the pub 'With that attitude you can't come in the pub'. We de-escalated the situation at least 3 times. The host was friendly with other people. This whole incident felt slightly racist, definitely inhospitable. read more

Gotta say that this little pub has tons of charm as soon as you enter the space. The staff are genuinely welcoming and attentive. Its cozy and has a great layout for hanging out with friends watching a game or fight. You should try their chicken burger with sweet potato fries!! Definitely going back. read more

Tried again one weekday evening and was met with same strange subdued atmosphere as first visit. First off, drink menu is decent for a pub but food is average and pricey for what you get so look to specials (I do hear burgers are pretty good but expensive with add-ons....see previous post below for food review)... and the service took awhile from the moment we walked in (they are obviously struggling in that department). The $20 nachos and $15 calamari were a big let down... Now heads up, this location is nothing like the downtown Darcy's. It's a big open space and oddly quiet and empty with no jolly uni students, lively tourists, or merry local urbanites packing the place and bringing it to life. Totally different customer base. It doesn't even translate as a sports bar - more like a restaurant - no busy pool tables or darts or large happy groups of people. It's not just that they are missing a huge front patio, but this place feels uninviting to a customer - it's like the neighbourhood watering hole, the local dive, the blue collar hangout. There were a couple of burly men in steel toe boots seated at the bar chewing the fat with the bartender. Their profanity echoing throughout the large space. And a couple of older ladies outside sucking back cigarettes. It felt awkward walking in, getting a sense like we were intruding maybe as outsiders... I know they host music in the evening - lots of country? But what about comedy nights or trivia/dart competitions or pulling on some popular acts from downtown? Darcy's has the perfect location here in Westshore and as the area grows and changes and becomes more traffic-locked and disconnected from downtown it desperately needs a cool, hip, vibrant hangout to attract a new, youthful energy... like The Beagle in Cook St Village or even Jack's Place on Bear Mountain, a bustling central neighbourhood hub. The owners just need to figure out how to translate some of that bright downtown energy into Langford. Or maybe that's the issue, it's Langford, a rugged family town in the backwoods burbs... hopefully Darcy's figures things out because the potential is huge. read more

Let me start off by saying I am not the type of person to complain. I am the type of person who if at a restaurant received burned food - would still eat it, and unless service is excruciatingly bad - I always tip. However, my past few visits to this establishment have motivated me to share my experiences to warn others so that they are not subjected to the same disrespectful and extremely unprofessional treatment that I have received on several occasions. At this pub I had reserved a table for a number of guests on two separate occasions only to arrive and find out that there was not enough room for everyone to sit together, when asked if we could move tables together the manager was very rude saying no, we have been served the wrong things (not what we ordered), bills split between large parties were mostly all completely wrong. Went to Darcy's for wings, beer and UFC. They don't have the TSN package, the wings were soggy and they screwed up the drink ordered. This was my last time visiting and I suggest you pass it by altogether. Very disappointed, this used to be a good place. read more

I love coming here because everybody is very nice the food is great and so are the drinks. What I have an issue with is how they deal with their tips... The wait staff gets a very small portion and the rest goes to the kitchen and rest of staff and potentially owners the wait staff should get the majority of what they make for tips. I recently visited Darcys and was very disappointed with the price and value of their nachos. They were pricey to begin with, and I asked for the usual meat addition, guacamole ($4) extra little cup of sour cream and salsa. Altogether with tax these nachos were shy of $30! And there was cheese on the top and not in the middle. So... all in all.. I would never order nachos,, and honestly with all the great food places out their... over priced under valued chips should be a thing of the past. My mistake. read more

2 out of 3 ain't bad except when lunch #3 isn't great and the complaint was handled poorly. And the server was argumentative with the customer. No discount or anything off the bill even if the customer offers to pay for a half eaten meal. It was the tuna bowl and the tuna was tasting off. The server claimed it was the radishes in the dish and they are trained to "know the food and it's taste" rookie server maybe? Lack of training? The server did mention this has been an issue before still claiming the radishes were the issue and probably only in the dish to add texture and crunch but the dish is still the same. read more

The Jalapeño Jack burger is the best burger I have had on the Island. Forget any other burger joint. I can't say I've had anything else on the menu because as soon as I had this burger I knew I had to have it again, and again... and it never disappoints. Perfectly seasoned patty letting the natural flavour through, and the crispy bacon and onions to top it all off with a great crunch. The fries have a great seasoning. It's a two-hander everyone needs to try. Edit August 2018: I'm sorry to hear that they no longer make this burger. read more

This place can do it all. It's great for meeting friends after work for a couple of beers and to watch a game but it's also a perfect place to go for a fun date night. Live music, amazingly friendly staff and an awesome menu that isn't just boring pubfare (and they do a new rollout menu every Friday). Ever since new management took over about 2 years ago this place has been getting better and better. We just did a Christmas staff party here and they catered to all our menu requests and the service was amazing. Looking forward to doing their New Years Eve party this year too! Definitely worth checking out in you're on the westshores of the Capital Region Area of BC. Their shrimp fish tacos are so tasty and only $3 on Tuesdays. They are small tacos but each bit you'll love. Their (very hot) wings, while they do have a bit of a spice to it, I didn't find it "very hot". Plenty of TV for the sports lovers and on the weeks it transform into a club like experience. Check it out! read more

Worst service ever. Server was no where to be found numerous times. Was rude to us when she finally came to our table after speaking to the mamager and we waited altogether about 45 minutes for just a menu and only got drinks. I was disappointed, the service was slow, and it wasn't busy. I watched my drinks sit on the bar for 10 minutes, server walked by twice. I finally got up and went over to get them, on my way back the server indicated she was just picking them up, I said don't bother. Our meals were delicious but our waitress, Emily, was absolutely amazing! We are in Canada for our 5th wedding anniversary and dinner tonight has been our favorite experience yet. Emily and the rest of the staff were incredibly warm, welcoming and helpful. Emily even helped us decide where to go to dinner later during our trip. The food was delicious and the atmosphere relaxed but ultimately good service will have us telling everyone. This is the only review I have ever written so that is saying something!! read more
