    Soy Garlic

We came here for dinner with some local friends while visiting Victoria. I wasn't expecting much at first. I mean it's just oven roasted chicken, but the experience was great. We were seated right away when we got there, and there were 8 of us. I got the soy garlic. The sauce absorbed by the rice roll was so good. The chicken was delicious, cooked to the right tenderness, not dry. Our friend also suggested the Gimmari, so we got some to share. Those were interesting and good as well, but I enjoyed the chicken and rice roll more. The server was attentive, and the food didn't take long. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a casual dining place.

New location in Victoria BC "Good Ovening!" I saw this restaurant in Yelp and decided to dine here randomly just for its catchy name. LoL! wait, what... over 200 photos and no reviews? This was our last evening in Victoria BC...let's try it We were given menus... hmm, looking, looking... what to get. I decided on the Bulgogi and hubby chose the Beef Udon. Shortly after placing our order our server comes back and says that they are short of the Bulgogi beef and have only enough to fulfill one of the orders. Bummer. My hubby loves his udon so I chose something else. It took me another minute to choose their Creamy Oven Pasta. I could use a little more delicious in my day... Omgosh... best pasta meal experience I've had in our entire 4-day Victoria BC trip. I know what you're thinking... eating pasta in a Korean restaurant. I should've ordered soy garlic chicken or something but I don't regret one bit trying their Creamy Oven Pasta. So delicious! Good Ovening is a fusion restaurant located in the heart of Downtown Victoria BC. Review #3172

First restaurant I tried in Victoria, BC. Pretty amazing store and so cute too. They use their spaces really well. Super nice people, and LOVED ALL THE FOOD! Below in the picture I posted is what I got and OMG!! Pair it with a side of rice and mix it in and it's amazing!!!!

Oven roasted chili chicken & brown rice snowy chicken

Weird. But perhaps that's my ignorance of Asian cuisine speaking. First, the chicken is delicious. My wife had the brown rice Snowy Chicken and I had the oven roasted Chili Chicken and both were cooked wonderfully. Point of clarification - "brown rice" indicates breading, which means "oven roasted" has no breading. Both dishes came with cole slaw (which I believe is prepackaged) and "mashed potato salad," which means cold mashed potatoes. In other words, sides are a pass. Also, both entrees came with some kind of tasteless, textureless carrot-shaped food mixed in with the chicken. If there hadn't been enough chicken I could understand their inclusion as a filler, but there was more chicken than I could comfortably finish, so they could (should) have been left out of the meal. Lastly, the "snow" on my wife's chicken was (we're confident) cheese powder from boxed mac & cheese. Unappetizing and distracting. In summary, the chicken is prepared wonderfully, but everything else is...weird.

Bacon Poutine and Oven baked chicken

Great service, the waitress was attentive and polite. Nice little corner restaurant with a good selection of dishes. We tried both the bacon poutine and the original oven baked chicken. I would give the poutine a 7.5 out of 10 and the chicken an 8.5 out of 10. Good sized portions with a short wait for the food.

    Beef bulgogi

When the service is outstanding, you can expect the food to be of good quality as well. The owner was so thoughtful and made our eating experience very enjoyable. We did not have to wait for our water to be refilled- a service that you don't see much where most would just leave a bottle of water on the table. The oven-baked soy garlic was a tasty variation from the usual deep-fried. The bulgogi had a good amount of beef unlike other places where there are more extenders than the meat itself. The highlight of our dinner was the crsipy pork belly with fried garlic and onion toppings. It was crispy on the outside but soft on the inside with just right proportion of meat and fat. The serving was good for 2-3 people and you won't break the bank for their prices. Definetely check this place out if you are visiting Victoria.

I was honestly shocked by how good the food was. I had initially assumed it might be a spot primarily for tourists, but a dear friend of mine who is a local mentioned that people in Victoria actually love coming here. She even noted that some friends from her children's school were there just the night before for an alumni weekend. The menu absolutely exceeded my expectations. I was blown away by the fish and chips; the fish was moist with a light batter and wasn't oily at all. The burgers, Irish stew, and shepherd's pie were all delectable as well. The real standout, however, was the sockeye salmon in a pesto preserved lemon broth--it was so addictive that I wish I could replicate the recipe at home. It is very easy to see why this spot has received so many accolades, and I would love to return the next time we are back in Victoria!

The bun was incredibly fresh, light, and pillowy, while the pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender with the perfect balance of richness and tang from the kimchi. The pickled vegetables added a bright crunch that tasted incredibly fresh. We started with the salmon tartare, and it was phenomenal! Rich, buttery, bursting with flavor, and so good we were literally fighting over the last bite. And the scallop? Order one for each person. Seriously. It's far too delicious to share. It had just the right amount of heat, leaving the perfect lingering warmth that immediately made us want another. Do yourself a favor and give yourself enough time to work your way through the menu, because every dish we tried was outstanding. Each plate was thoughtfully curated, beautifully executed, and cooked to perfection. I like to call it the C³ trifecta: curated, created, and cooked. Without question, this is some of the best food we've had in a very long time. We can't wait to come back (when visiting) and continue eating our way through the rest of the menu.
