Struggled for places to dine and wanted a cheeseburger and fries. This place was highly recommended by a local so we tried it. Soooooo yummy!Amazing smash burger that tasted like a home made big mac. Delicious hot, crispy and perfectly salted fries! Just what I wanted! The service was great. The ambiance was great as well. Tables and booths are available as well as bar seats. Solid. I was walking around looking for something yummy and the guy at thr ice cream shoppe recommended it. I liked the menu enough so I went in. Both Matthew and Eduardo waited on me and they were both so nice. I started sitting on the patio, I ordered waygu gyoza there. The sauce was yummy. I appreciated their mocktail menu. I started with a stormy passion. They hey let me take a sip of a local cider but I decided to stick w the mocktails. Later I did a drivers sbagliato which I also enjoyed. I would've tried them all if I could. I got kinda chilly so I went inside. My food was served there. I did the ribs and chicken. Matthew recommended them and they got better as time went on. The place itself is very cute. Outside has great views of the city. They're in a cool area with a lot of foot traffic. Towards the end of my meal I did see someone catch my eye. The door to outside was open and a mouse was inside. I'm not going to take it as a reflection of anything other than the door being open and leave it at that. They have other things on their fresh sheets menu that look good. I like the local aspect to things. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! We stumbled into 10 Acres Commons during a snow day, not expecting much. We were met with very friendly staff, super quick service and great recommendations. The place was also so cute inside! The food itself was super tasty! I highly recommend any of the sushi, my spicy tuna roll was very fresh. My partner got the clam chowder and loved it. The prices were affordable, not overly priced. We ended our lunch with a delicious chocolate cake and some champagne suggested by our waiter. We will absolutely be back the next time we're in Victoria! read more

We just happened across the 10 Acres Commons while wandering the streets of Victoria. The atmosphere looked inviting with its chic industrial look, the menu had good options for a variety of preferences, and the workers all seemed to be smiling and happy. We decided to stop in and try it out. We were delighted that the food was delicious, service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere was just as charming from the inside. We also learned that the foods are grown at their own farm or locally sourced. You could definitely tell everything we ordered was made with fresh, high quality ingredients. The local beer and cider we ordered was also delicious! If you are in the Victoria area, you should definitely give 10 Acres Commons a try! read more

Their location was not far from our hotel (Marriott) which was handy with two toddles in tow. Myself and my husband weren't too hungry so we ordered a dozen oysters and opted to order their beef dumpling (five pieces)for our two littles. They too had a meal an hour before coming in. All were delicious, though we had to order another dish of dumplings because our kids devoured the first one. We plan to return during their happy hour because the price of their oysters are much more friendly to our wallets. As mentioned, we had two toddlers (1.5 year old and a 3 year old) and suffice to say, the restaurant is not toddler friendly. They do not offer any high chairs, though fortunately, we had our youngest one in his stroller. read more

This is a Happy Hour review We visited on a Friday afternoon late September. The out door patio was a sunny spot to look at the water and Victoria hustle and bustle. We were seated in the corner with some appreciated shade. Hostess station was quick with good communication. Our server was great. was it Georgie? She helped me with the 3 superior varieties of oysters offered. no premiums available today. 12 for $24 We ordered another six. The pickle juice was different, a drop of tabasco and slurp city. I asked the manager what movie he was in and he said "Settle Down" super funny. A beer a prosecco a mule. Drinks were good and value priced. We tried the sticky ribs vs wing per recommendation. Decent. Some of the food is more discounted vs regular some not as much. $4 off was an average but oysters 50%!! This was a good find on Yelp and lovely afternoon snack! read more

Cool place on the main strip and harbor area. Lots of fun at the bar and great service. It was slammed on a Saturday but still had seating at the bar. Lots of unique apps like Sticky Baby Back Ribs, Pork Carnitas Tacos, but decided for the Prawn Tacos. Very, very tasty with a mild kick (but I like spice). Also saw Clam Chowder and a Cobb Salad that looked good. Bold menu statement with "The Burger" (their quotes). It apparently has a secret sauce (mayonnaise base) and bacon! I'd also like to try the Chicken Burger because of the guacamole!!! Wow, great menu!! I'd love to go back next time I'm in Victoria. Give them a try! read more

Has an inviting outdoor patio along Humboldt Street that's great for warmer days and has a lively happy hour. The tables in the patio area are very close to each other, so you might need to ask the guests at the neighboring table to scoot their chair in a bit so you can sit at your table. The service was friendly. Ordered the following happy hour items: 1/2 dozen half price superior oysters - got 3 Gold Bay oysters (grassy, slightly creamy) and 3 Fanny Bay oysters (creamy and rich), the oysters tasted good and were fresh Burger - good smash burger taste, the fries were delicious Sushi platter - prawn tempura roll, spicy tuna roll and side of tuna tataki; all were fresh but nothing special Chicken wings - salt and pepper with sweet lime sauce on the side; the wings were tasty, nicely seasoned, and fried The salt and pepper chicken wings with sweet lime sauce on the side and fries were the standout items from the happy hour menu that I would order again. read more

Wow - some spectacular tacos here. We wish we ordered a third order of the recommended Rajas. We settled for the chicken and pork to start and it was packed with flavor and spice. You can taste how fresh every bit of the ingredients were. Pricy $17-19 tacos (3 ct) and no side is the only setback. 10 Acres Commons has an outdoor patio that gives a corner view of the water and the inside is fun and plenty of various seating types for all party sizes. We went for Thanksgiving dinner, and they had a special for $50. The squash soup was excellent for a starter. The turkey dinner was plentiful, with both white and dark meat, mashed potatoes, veggies, and dressing, along with cranberry sauce. The only real downside was that the dark meat was very, very salty. I'm not sure why the dark meat would be so salty, while the white meat is not. The pumpkin cheesecake for dessert was very good. read more

Came to Victoria from Seattle for a day trip. Was looking for a place to eat with my daughter. Decided to eat here as the menu looked good and we were hungry. Our waitress seemed kind of rude. I swear she semi snatched the menus out of my hand when I was handing it to her. I looked at my daughter and she gave me the look like she saw it too. When my daughter said thank you, the waitress said you're welcome with her back turned already walking away from the table. It took forever to get the check, I mean bill. I was corrected by the waitress. I had to flag down the hostess for the waitress to bring the bill. I tipped 18% when it was more 10% service. The restaurant was not busy. I gave 2 stars. The drink I ordered was a spicy margarita and it was delicious!! The best part of the meal. My daughter ordered the burger and she really enjoyed it and ate almost the whole thing. The Calamari and it was ok. It has a curry taste that we weren't expecting but it works. The Caesar salad was ok. I had to use a knife as the lettuce pieces were huge. I'm going to blame the heat for the unhappy service. Even though it wasn't hot inside the restaurant. Maybe she's having a bad day? Sucky service which made the lunch suck. read more

We've always loved this place for the quality and consistency of food, great happy hour options and upscale pub vibe. This time was a bit lackluster in terms of service. Our server may have just been overworked, however I think it was the tune of the manager that tainted our visit. We simply tried to edit the way our order was processed on the bill as it would result in a $6 difference for the exact same order. You'd think we were asking for something totally unreasonable and difficult with the hostility we were met with! In the end it was a simple fix that didn't need to have such a rough discussion during our meal. I'd also describe it as child tolerant. I get places don't always welcome kids but at an early time of day, it's pretty reasonable for them to be around. Dogs are welcomed on the patio with water bowls so this could be great for you if you wanted to bring a dog. On the plus side, the happy hr drinks are great! Great prices and include things like sangria, Bellini, Aperol spritz and more. The sushi platter has always been a great option, and the flatbread was surprisingly good too. Still a good spot, just a bit less friendly by some these days. read more

This place has some good quality food and craft beer. The ceviche was very good with a mix of fish, shrimp and clams. I liked it a lot. The haddock fish and chips were good but a little small for the fish. Same thing with the tacos very good but small. Overall the flavors were on point but I thought it was overpriced and small portioned. Atmosphere was nice and typical gastro pub. Service was just ok. I don't think I got the value for the prices they charge. read more

Great for a happy hour stopover for oysters and wine! Fab location with the harbour in the background and adjacent to the empress hotel. The tables on the deck are real close together though which I never love especially if you wanna focus on your own conversation. It can be super distracting when all you can hear is the table next to you. As for the wine, it was good, nothing to write home about but it was on special and I got six oysters for happy hour as well which was great. One of my oysters def tasted off tho and very very fishy. The service was great and really friendly! Yes, I would go back for a casual happy hour again and prob try more food on their menu! read more

10 Acres Commons - Happy hour oysters - Seafood Near Me - Victoria, British Columbia

Great spot. Service was fast and friendly and food was really good. As a table of six this is what we ate and what we thought: 1 dozen superior oysters - delish and creamy - (top tip oysters are 1/2 price between 2-5pm and 9pm- close) Buffalo chicken wings - nice flavour however they were very small and not served with blue cheese dressing/dip so lost a few marks there for us. the burger - delicious straight up delicious- classic smash burger - portion is on the large side - IMO the burger could be smaller and just as satisfying lamb burger - very good like the beef burger it is a hefty portion. steak sandwich- opened faced served on grilled bread and topped with arugula - meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned commons bowl with Tuna Tataki and a green godess(ish) dressing - this dish was delicious- I would readily order again!!! seafood cannellini- this is the only dish that was underwhelming- overly salty and very rich All in all a great experience! read more

My fish and chips were a little soggy but tasty. The pecan tart and cheesecake were delicious. The waitress tried really hard but they at least two more wait staff. The manager was excellent. Always a great setting, food is good But I had to laugh at the picture of the Farm Peach Bellini drink picture. (Name might not be exact) It shows a drink in a canning jar towering over some fresh peaches. So, if the peaches are roughly 4 inches across, the jar should be .... I dunno, 10 inches high? Don't get your hopes up - the actual drink jar is unusually small, maybe 5 inches high? Shrinkflation!! It's everywhere! Oh well, had a nice Happy Hour! read more

Been to Victoria a million times and never once stopped by here! We stopped by for lunch as they just opened and had amazing service. We were attracted by a seafood driven menu. We ordered a spicy tuna roll, calamari, and some oysters on half shell. We loved everything and it all tasted pretty fresh. Also all came out super quick. Their drink list is pretty extensive and our server was pretty knowledgeable and great at making suggestions. The items were definitely on the pricier side, but considering we were in a nicer place and ordered seafood dishes, I would say we got out with a decent check! We were visiting from out-of-town. It was our first experience eating here. The GOOD: The service, the cocktail drinks, raw oysters and the sorbet desserts. And a very slick website. The BAD: Calamari - the batter was crispy and overly flavored to the point where the squid could not be tasted at all; Clams & Mussels dinner - the tomato sauce (it was NOT a broth) was heavily oily and over-powered the taste of clams and mussels; Baby Back Ribs - over cooked, lathered in a high sugar BBQ sauce that over-powered the taste of the pork ribs. Can you see/hear the theme is this... every dish was over-powered by its "sauce". The college "kids" serving went through the motions, but really did not care a hoot. And the bill was VERY EXPENSIVE! The UGLY: The overall experience was VERY disappointing. We expected much better food. What we got was phony... a marketing pretense... it felt like false advertising. We would discourage others from going here. Don't waste your money. This an example of a lot of HYPE and low on substance. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. Ordered a Cobb salad & had it split. Enough to satisfy the appetite of two, with out over stuffed. The ambiance was casual in the corrugated steel and industrial seating surroundings with a full bar, outside seating (available), and a couple of booths. I'll prefix this by saying, generally if I don't like a place, I'll just move on and not say anything... however I feel morally obligated to say something. The good is that it is a nice looking place with a cool outside area to sit, and the people were nice. Unfortunately that's all I have. I sat at the bar and immediately noticed a large amount of flies buzzing around, door was open to the outside, so I understand to a degree... then I looked up from the bar. Every single light fixture was absolutely caked with dead gnats and flies... Keep in mind that all the light fixtures are directly above where you sit, eat, and drink... then I started looking at all the decor and fans... instantly felt sick to my stomach. Also, very young overall staff, which is fine, (I started bartending at 21) but usually there is one older/seasoned professional managing or checking on customers and staff. Couldn't find a single one. I wasn't trying to cause a scene or anything like that, I just quietly notified the bartender and he was reciprocal and said he'd talk to management. The place has potential, in a very busy area and a nice looking place. Hopefully they get a cleaning service in there asap, before someone gets sick or a lawsuit happens. read more

Y'all. This place is great. Three main reasons why I love them: 1) They have one of the best happy hour menus in Victoria. This isn't some stingy happy hour menu with 5-6 dishes and 3 drinks. Their happy hour menu consists of 10-15 different dishes and a great cheap drink list. Plus, this special is offered daily versus other places that only offer happy hour on weekdays. 2) Their food is delicious! A few of my favourites are the calamari (doused in curry powder, which is surprisingly impeccable), ceviche (fresh, fresh, fresh!), crispy chicken tacos (their happy hour menu comes with three), clam chowder, and popcorn oysters (deep fried oysters, essentially). I'm not going to lie, I could come here only for their calamari and be a happy camper, they're that good. 3) If you snag a seat on the patio, the views overlook the Inner Harbour and the Parliament building. Which, during the summers are absolutely gorgeous. I've only ever come for happy hour, but their a la carte lunch and dinner menu looks just as great. Service has always been quick and efficient. No complaints from this gal! Thanks for the delicious happy hour drinks and calamari, Commons! read more

This place is highly overrated. The food is mediocre at best and the service is poor. With plenty of other options around town, I'd recommend spending your money and time elsewhere. We came as a group of eight, and ordered drinks, apps, mains, dishes from their evenings specialty's, and dessert. Not one person could rave bout the food. Main entrees came out slowly one, two at a time. Our last main meal didn't arrive until everyone else was finished and waiting. The server ignored us and we had to ask another worker walking by for help. They ended up comping half of the price of that dish--really that made them look stingy after that. Even the service had been fantastic the menu was just blah. BBQ, burgers, steak--no flavor, fried calamari... it's a pretty boring menu, you can find this kinda stuff in any of the other restaurants in town, but better. read more

10 Acres Commons - Seafood Near Me - Victoria, British Columbia

There were four of us in our group, and we travel for seafood. Two of the people with us live in Seattle, and my hubby and I go to eat seafood since I am Pescatarian (only meat is seafood, with the occasional try of new items). I was impressed with 10 Acres Commons website, history, and farming practices. Our friend from Seattle had come to one of their other restaurants with her mom and enjoyed it. We were excited to sit on the patio and enjoy some delicious food and drinks. Their mixed drinks were not on-point that day. I got the Tilted Farmer and Her Majesty's Libation as I love any mixed drink with Prosecco, and they were both too sour and not mixed well. The rest of my table got simple cocktails, wine, or beer, and they enjoyed their drinks. If I go back to one of their places, I will stick with their excellent wine or beer list. We started our order with the seafood tower. The first thing we noticed was there there were only ten oysters, and the menu says there are a dozen on the tower. When we inquired about the missing two oysters, we were told that the oysters we got were large, so they only gave us ten. First off, that was not true. They were not significant, check out the pictures. PLUS, who has ever heard of 10 oysters equaling a dozen no matter how large! Four people can't evenly split a dozen oysters! We enjoyed the dips that were on the tower. The salmon dip went best with the crostini, and the whitefish dip was superb on the rice chips. We were happy they gave us more crostini and rice chip to finish drops. The ceviche was ok, but I've had better in many places. The number of mussels almost made up for the two missing oysters. The sushi rolls were alright, but nothing special. To add to the so-so service, please know I usually don't take off for service because I know everyone can have a bad day or a place gets slammed, and someone didn't come in or whatever, but she took our bottle of water away and didn't refill without us having to remind her a few times. I need my water!!! read more

I loveee!!! Just spent a weekend in Victoria and this was our favorite!! Mainly because it was right next to our hotel: Fairmont empress. It's a stone throw away!! And second: they let me bring my babyyyyyyy!!! My fur baby!!! Love: the oyster happy hour! What's not to love. They had regular abs premium: regular is $17 for half a dozen. Super cheap! And you get 3 different kinds! The premium is just a little more! The patio: it's all covered! Heated! Super heated. Victoria is about 25 degrees right now so it's much needed. And since my pup sat on the floor, he needed it too. It was too hot even! But he didn't mind. He got so much love from the staff! They even came out to pet him so many times! We got drinks!! We got eggs for my fur baby! Thanks for making him boiled eggs! Even got some rice and extra boiled eggs Togo for him but turns out it got spices in. Oh well! We still had fun walking back to the hotel in 2 mins! read more

First place we stopped by after checking in at the Fairmont Empress Hotel and first time in Victoria. On a non busy Tuesday dinner, the service was horrible. The waitress only came to take our order, never checks and never refilled water. Had to waive my arm profusely to get the bill and the place wasn't even a quarter full. First, it took a while for her to come take our order. Waited 45 minutes for our food, except for a salad entree that never came. finally had to cancel the salad since my whole party (5 of us total) had finished their meals and still no salad. Nonetheless I was livid. One caution... this is seriously not family friendly like at all so I wish we researched better places. However, it was the first restaurant we saw coming out of the Fairmont so be sure to explore better options if you are staying there. Food was bleh... over dressed coleslaw.Clam chowder was super small and with garlic bread (extra charge) was $17 for extremely mediocre quality. In the end, was just disappointed and shocked the location was money so thought it had to be good... read more

It will get confusing if you don't look up directions because you might just end up at 10 Acres Bistro and not the commons. We got there just in time for our table. It was quite a busy night on a Saturday but I think it is no excuse for the drinks to come so slowly. It came 20 mins after we ordered and there were 4 bartenders at the bar... And before I get into the food-- i just had ro mention that our server was quite curt and kind of gave negative energy while serving us. It was like she hated her job or we caught her on a bad day but come on!! My friend asked her if she recommends the Empress Gin (which is local to victoria) the server returns with a semi scoff (like "i dont f*cking know") and then said "I don't see why I would not recommend it, I've never had it". Like... you work at a restaurant-- this is part of your job to offer suggestions and know the menu highlights. Like I'm sorry are we a burden? Anyways she continued to make snarky comments and was salty another waiter took our order and said "Ok I'm your server, you should order with me". Anyway, we had to put in orders of more drinks even before we finished our current because we saw how slow and inattentive she was. Ok so we got our drinks and our food came. The drinks were good. I got the Luchadores Smash- a cute tequila fruity drink that came in a copper tin. I got the prawn tacos with guac added. But they never told us the guac was added on the tortilla so I had to ask the rude waitress where my guac was and she just said its on the tortilla as if i was dumb. It was an ADD ON. so i would think it is on top and plus she never mentioned that when we ordered. The food was not bad. The prawns are not prawns though, they just used the word prawns to make it fancy but in reality its shrimp taco. FOOD: 3.5/5 SERVICE: 2/5 AMBIANCE: 3/5 LOCATION: 3/5 read more
