The place was clean and had plenty of rest room facilities. The prices for drinks were reasonable for this type of venue and the selection of beers and liquors was above average.  The one complaint we had was the amount of distortion with the music that night. We've heard the band many times, but on this night both acts we had difficulty hearing the vocals as they were muffled/distorted. I'm not sure what the issue with the sound board was this evening, but in a premiere music venue, this should never be an issue.  We will definitely return to XL live in the future and hope the sound system was just a one off night.

Even though they were not officially open, the staff offered us a sample of their theme drink and took time to tell us all about the venue and the different "vibes" for each floor. The owner actually came over to chat with us and you could tell the pride he has in Karma by the way he shared information and warmly welcomed us back in the future! We liked the vibe and look forward to visiting in the future or attending one of their events.

When did they start that? Why? To kill off their business obviously. The door man told us we'd have to wait a few minutes to "clear some people out," so I'm thinking it's packed and poppin'. Cleared out, yes, poppin', no. Basically, I will return again only if: I'm too drunk to remember why I shouldn't go here or if I have a date I want to dance with alone on the dance floor. Or maybe take a dump in the bathroom since it's not too busy and I could have privacy. All three above scenarios seem unlikely, so I won't be back any time soon.

My best friend, who lives locally, told us about the place. We were hesitant leaving the comfort of 2nd street, but we followed her down Pine Street and stopped at the entrance to "Madam Knock's Pine Street Beauty Parlor." After giving the bouncer the weekly password (this can be found on their facebook /knock.hbg, twitter @knock_hbg, or instagram @knock_hbg), we went up a flight of stairs and entered the Beauty Parlor. The Beauty Parlor was set up perfectly, and after giving the password one more time, the bookshelf vanished to the side.... and TA DA! We entered the Speakeasy, a whole new world. The music was pumping, the drinks were flowing, people were dancing, the lights were low, and we were in for a good time. The entire bar/ club has a Prohibition-era style fashion with dark hardwood floors, lots of purple, and chandeliers. The bar was located all the way to the back, which is also where the exit is. There is a dance floor in the middle, and centered is a DJ. There are a few seating areas in addition to the VIP sections. I think there was a total of 3 VIP sections which ran about $250 + per a night. The drinks were fruity and presented well- I wish I could comment on the price, but I really can't recall. You can browse their drink menu on their website. Knock is only open on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 PM until 2 AM. This is a Harrisburg MUST.

The crowd was great, everyone was in a good mood and the atmosphere was full of energy from start to finish. The music selection was really good, a mix of Latin beats, pop, and some old school tracks that kept everyone dancing the whole night. The lighting and setup gave the place a proper club vibe, and you could tell they put effort into creating a festive Halloween theme. The staff was friendly and service was quick which made the night even smoother. Overall it's a place where you can actually have a good time without needing to be in a big city like LA. I'll definitely keep it in mind for future events or weekends when I want to dance and enjoy a good vibe.

If you're sitting in front, be prepared for people to stand directly in front of you during the drag show. It was frustrating to have 6-foot-tall, 300-pound women completely block our view--especially after paying $18 per ticket. Also, watch out for this one wild white lady in a black shirt and floral shorts who acts invisible and blocks multiple people. If you ask her politely to move, she'll argue with you and even try to escalate things by telling you to "step outside" like she's about that life. Overall, for our first drag show, we had fun--but if you're going to enjoy the performance, be ready to be annoyed because no one there is enforcing basic courtesy or crowd control. The bouncers are always the friendliest people there. Don't expect kindness from anyone after you walk down to the bar (unless you go to the bartender with the long curly hair- she is the best!) Other than her and maybe a few exceptions, every bartender will give you the cold shoulder, ignore you, or act overall incredibly rude as if you are inconveniencing them for ordering a drink. Also, ALWAYS ask to close your tab right away. Drink wise, they're honestly pretty good but can get pricey fast. The music is usually pretty good and on a busy night, it's good vibes. This is all coming from someone who has been here 5+ times. If it's not crowded or the music isn't good, you're essentially paying upwards of $5 just to get in and be treated poorly.
