Hhhhmmm not to sure but ordered a mushroom cheesesteak on a plain roll. The roll was a little toasted which to me seems like not a fresh roll. Second it split at the bottom which to me it was either cut to far or stale and maybe left over from the previous day. I am not sure if they make their own rolls. The steak was meaty and pretty good the homemade Wiz not really sure about yet? I was offered the choice between a seeded or plain roll maybe I made the wrong choice getting in the plain roll. Second steak was ordered as a cheesesteak hoagie without a roll and was good but I had requested hot peppers which I guess they forgot to put on my sandwich. Far from the world best cheesesteak but worth one more try. Also seems like lots of varieties of sandwiches to choose from. read more

I've grown up on cheese steaks so I think I am a good judge when it comes to consistency . The meat , fried onions, banana peppers and cheese are a five star. The bread is not up to par. We ordered white seed roll. It was more of an Amoroso roll. Not quality enough for all the yummy stuff inside the sandwich. Maybe they can get Sarcones or Atlantic City bread. Ok... vegan review here... Just ate the seitan vegan cheesesteak and just wow. The bread was super fresh and everything was so flavorful. I also ordered 2 meat cheesesteak hoagies for my parents and everything was super fresh and tasty. The owner took my order and was very friendly. Usually, a vegan cheesesteak is just chunks and blobs of fake cheese so this was extremely refreshing. Reminds me of the veg cheesesteak I used to get at Mi Lah in Philly back in the day. This place is ridiculous. I never got a cheesesteak where they want to charge me for pickles and banana peppers. I love their sign that says "Worlds best cheesesteak". I've had just about every notable cheesesteak in Philly, and this ones up there with! I had a wiz with fried onions, perfect proportions of meat, cheese, bread, and onions. Meat was cut nice, not to choppy and not just strips of steak. Onions weren't burnt or raw. I'd bet the rolls are from Del Buono's. read more

Dar's food has gone down in quality since they first opened, Their cheesesteaks are now gristly and gamey. Dar's staff members have always lacked basic organizational skills. They hand out the wrong packaged food to the wrong customer routinely. Dar's staff calls this a, "replacement". I call it incompetence. The staff members mumble, and they don't care if this business succeeds or fails. All of these failures are no-brainers to fix. read more

First time trying a Vegan cheese steak since I'm trying to eat less red meat and I am shocked how good it was. The flavor profile was really tasty and the seitan was not chewy & and it was tender. They did a heck of a job replicating the flavor of it. If I'm not full vegan and enjoyed it I think you should give it a try! read more

Ok cheesesteak. I ordered 3 cheesesteaks. A cheesesteak hoagie and the other two had american/provolone and fried onions. The meat was very dry. The best thing was the cheese fries with whiz. The cheesesteak may be better with whiz and not so dry. read more

Ordered online on Saturday. Went to pick up my food and noticed a woman walk down the street and enter Dar's returning a wrong order. She exits as I enter give my name to "Emily" at the counter. Emily gives me my food. I ask her if this was the bag that the lady who just left returned. She said "Yes. She opened it up and realized it was the wrong order and brought it back." I asked "Are you 100% sure that she didn't do anything to this food?" "Yes," she replied. "Unfortunately, I'm not. Please remake this order." Emily got an attitude and didn't understand my concern. I had to explain, "In this day and age, you don't know what people are capable of. That woman can be in here unmasked. I don't know her immunization status. I don't know if she unwrapped the food, coughed all over it and wrapped it back up. You don't know either, Emily. But for you to vouch 100% for an uncertainty is very concerning. Mcdonalds has better standards of practice. I would hope your standards were better than that." For future reference, when food leaves your restaurant in an unsealed package, you cannot guarantee the quality of that food upon its return. The Health department policy dictates that you discard that potentially tainted food. What upsets me most is that I vouched for this place. The first time I went there the food was excellent and the service was pleasant. Now I have to tell my friends and coworkers to be careful because the food may have been recycled. read more

Hands down....This was the worst cheesesteak I have ever eaten. I placed an order for two cheesesteaks and French fries. I got home to find I had no French fries. When I called the girl said she never ordered them and asked if I wanted to come back. I then opened my Philly Dilly to find NO PICKLES, the wiz was watered down and dripping out like water and the roll was split horizontally across one of the halves, obviously not a fresh roll. Best cheesesteak Ever, way better than anything in Philadelphia. This place serves Vegan option along with chicken and rib eye cheesesteak. I ordered the hot Chester seitan with vegan cheese and my husband got hot Chester rib eye steak. Both are very very delicious!! The bread was perfect texture and overall my food wasn't greasy or soggy like other Philly steaks. The two girls at the front are very nice when we ordered and ate there. This is the BEST place for any kind of steak sandwich, be it, beef, chicken or vegan. My husband had the chicken cheesesteak and said it was by far the best he has ever had. He said that the chicken was high quality and tasted as though it had been grilled (as opposed to fried). I have had the vegan cheesesteak twice now and plan on having many more! It is excellent!
