Classic beautiful hall. I enjoyed a comedy show here and a concert. I just wished they had more comfortable seats and more space in the box seating that's my only critique.

Great venue for concerts we went last night for a concert and really enjoyed the venue. Great seats and amazing acoustics. Definitely will be back again soon.

A beautiful venue in the heart of DC. I saw Hassan hares Ronny Ronny hates Hassan. It was a cleverly done show. The venue has tons of bathrooms!!! So there wasn't a wait at all even though this show was sold out! I love that! Getting to my seat was seamless and there was extremely attentive staff every step of the way to help. It was crowded because it was a sold out show but it was very well staffed and orderly. They had food options in the basement level and drinks on the main level. Looking forward to attending more shows here!

I came here last Saturday evening to see Distant Worlds Live, they were fantastic! However we are here to review DAR Constitution Hall itself. My first complaint is there's no indication where to go so you just have to assume that if there's a line you're in the right place. It'd be nice to just have a sign out where you can let others know you should be waiting right there before the show starts. And let me tell you about just walking in itself... yeah it's a chaotic mess. I'm not sure who thought it was a great idea to try to get 100+ people in all at the same time to buy merch/drinks/food in such short of a time span. That's just added unnecessary stress but it'd been a bit easier if we had more staff to help keep the line more organized. Luckily I was able to find my seat easily and I sat down in Row BB, in 103. It was a nice spot close to the front and overall I had a pleasant time. If you can get past that initial rush of people trying to get in before the show begins.. it's an overall decent experience.

Came here to see Colin Jost and Michael Che while they were on tour. It was my first time at the venue. Very cool to be surrounded by so much history, but the seating arrangement is very strange. We were on the side so we basically had to turn our entire bodies to sit sideways on the seat bc Althea seats don't face the stage (they're almost perpendicular). I didn't get a drink or food or anything, but they had a whole area down in the basement for that sort of thing. The bathrooms were pretty nice (there were a lot of them). My biggest complaint was the line to get into the venue. They were making folks put their phones into those lock bags so we couldn't record the show so it took almost an hour to get into the venue. We were lined up around the block and not given a whole lot of communication. Not sure if I'd be in a hurry to go back, but it is kinda cute and quaint

Wow. Chicken Fingers, beer and chips. This place reeks of fried chicken. Hotter than hell in there. Why is the water in the restrooms freezing cold? Can't we have nice things? Clean this place up. Yuk.

The place is clean, but I have to say the service absolutely sucked. The ushers sent me to the WRONG place 3 times. I swear I wanna cuss. There is no food smh. I just knew I could have some popcorn. Smh. I'm hungry and annoyed they had me walking up and down and around the darn place. The service absolutely sucked. I can tell they did the same thing to someone else bc she is walking back and forth apologizing too. Last thing we need is someone falling down these stairs Al because the ushers sent you the the wrong side. Smh annoying.

Have been here atleast twice before (each for a comedy show) and each time was a great time. The staff is courteous and the venue is a decent size so that even seats to the side of the stage are still a fine view. The line for drinks always look long, but you'll get to the front in a reasonable amount of time. Tip: if pre-show it's too crowded for you upstairs, head downstairs where the bathrooms are; not only is there another bar down there but there's always less people Looking forward to my next show at the DAR!

Trevor Noah!!! Witty, clever, HILARIOUS!!!

Great concert venue for sit down performances. Tips: Arrive early so you have time to get through the security and metal detectors. Staff is friendly, prompt and courteous. They want to get everyone in to see the show, quickly. Do not try to sneak in with your ticket at the Will-Call entrance to try and skip the ticket holders line. They will send you away, to the ticket holders line and you will have to walk to the very end!! Cash bar only for beverages and cocktails. There is an ATM money machine, but there is a long line to use it. BRING CASH!!! Drinks are about $8 - $10 each. Downstairs, they serve a few appetizers like chicken wings, maybe other items, not certain. I've been here about 6 times in my entire life for either award ceremonies of some sort, comedy shows and live concerts. If you are afraid of heights and don't like climbing stairs, get tickets on the floor or not too high up. The seating goes straight up, and the climb is steep. I took my mom to a concert once and wasn't aware of the climb to get to our seats so they helped us out and gave her like handicapped seating, no climb, which was close, but semi-obstructed view. Keep that in mind when purchasing tickets, carrying your drink up. I would prefer to arrive early, find my seat, put my jacket down, get situated, go to ladies room, get a soda or drink, then return to seat and enjoy the show. If you don't arrive early, it's like rush hour. Everyone arrives at the last minute and the show will start with or without you!!! Parking...there are plenty of parking lots nearby. However, many blocks away. Prepare to walk at least 6 city blocks, or .25 of a mile or longer. Closest metro is Farragut West, about .75 of a mile. Or, you may get lucky and find parking on the street.

Who's going to see Trevor Noah!? This guy posting this!

Date Night part 2! Tix to see Trevor Noah which is the highlight of our week! He did not disappoint. As for the venue itself.... let me explain. Interior and exterior have a classic traditional look that fits being in the nation's capital. The stage area itself is spacious with a lot of seating on the orchestra floor and then upstairs on both sides. Sound reverberates due to the structure so you can hear what's happening. Makes laughing easier when the comedians do their material. Both bars (lounge and entrance) are cash only. This is the 2010's, no one carries cash anymore. Learn to take plastic! They could maintain some of the bathrooms; the men's lounge bathroom was missing soap in some dispensers and the air dryers didn't seem to work. That lead to wet door knobs which sounds the way it sounds as I typed it. Give some updates and renovations to this venue and it could be a must-visit venue. I'll come back to see shows here if the artist is worth it. But please no wet door knobs!

Ted G.

Excellent venue and easily accessible. The security and metal detector lines moved very quickly. We attended an event here, the wait was literally nothing and the layout is excellent. Unlike other venues we attended events at they have easy access restrooms and plenty of them. This is a very comfortable venue!

We ordered the tomato and pepper choka bara, hamachi crudo, smoked chargrilled chicken, fire grilled branzino, and mocha Smith Island cake. To drink, I had the Old Money and Fancy Pants. I was most looking forward to the chicken and it was inedible. Absolutely dry and flavorless. I was shocked. Hamachi was also a bit disappointing. Everything else was delicious. I enjoyed my drinks. The bara is addictive. The snapper was perfect and I love chado beni, so the chimichurri was awesome. The mocha Smith Island cake was my favorite. I already love this cake and the espresso ice cream made it fantastic. I'd return to Isla, hoping that kitchen issues are resolved.

Although they do not validate, there is a spacious parking garage on the lower level. I arrived here a little earlier than my party so I sat at the bar and ordered the passion project. I believe the cocktail prices are pretty standard for DC ($20+). I was not impressed by my cocktail or interested in having another one. Thankfully, my bartender didn't bother to ask if I wanted another one - just handed me my bill and sent me on my way. I'm a spicy marg fan, but something about this drink was too adjacent to a savory spicy dish. At the price point for the dishes, I was expecting to be blown away, but most dishes were just ok to me. The stars of the show were the oxtail patties, fried snapper, and brussel sprouts. The pepper sauce that came with the oxtail patties was delishhhh. The fried snapper was unique in that it was already picked off the bone for you which made eating it way easier. The lamb chops were cool, nothing to call home about. Branzino was not memorable. The restaurant and decor is beautiful! It was quite noisy in there which made it hard to have conversations at the table. The service was quite lackluster (no one to refill water, no one to check on the meal after receiving it, took a while to get our order in, no knife to cut my lamb chops, no offer of dessert, took a while to close out our check) which is annoying when there is auto gratuity built into the bill. For food alone, I'd give the restaurant a 4, but the poor service brings this review to a 3. I hope I get to try it again in the future to leave a better review.

We spent several weeks looking for the perfect location for our big day, and the Arts Club met all of our criteria. The house boasts loads of unique character (including original artwork), the staff are professional and hard-working, they offers chairs, tables, linens, and cutlery/glassware at no extra cost, there are multiple floors available for guests to roam, their garden/courtyard is the perfect setting for a ceremony/dinner, and the venue even offers in-house catering (a rare, cost-saving find in D.C.). The only piece of advice I would offer anyone looking to host an event at the Arts Club is to be as proactive and organized as possible. At times the staff are difficult to connect with, but as long as you are persistent and make clear exactly what you want/need, you should be fine. Also, I would highly recommend taking advantage of the Hotel Lombardy next door. Their rates are fantastic, and the hotel offers a unique European charm. Of course my friend is a member and if I'm lucky, someday I will be too. It started off as I walked up the sidewalk and approached the club, the doorman was standing on the sidewalk. As I got closer, the doorman greeted me by name! I was taken a back for a minute wondering how could he possibly know my name! I was escorted in and asked to wait in the main reception while they went to get my friend. I went into what they refer to as the "Correspondence Lounge" which is sort of a small library with some incredibly old literary works. They have very strict rules and one of surprise is no use of cell phones... period. How refreshing! You can go into the Correspondence Lounge if you need to use your phone but otherwise you cannot use while in the dining room or other public areas. So make sure you "check-in" on Yelp when you are outside. Naturally they have a dress code, but really, if you have to ask what the dress code is, you probably aren't going to this place. Another rule I was surprised is they try to keep business limited so you cannot bring out a bunch of papers, laptop, etc... The only papers you can hold would have to be a newspaper or a book. Once seated, the service is impeccable. Extremely polite and not overbearing. They knew when we were engrossed in conversation and didn't interrupt. I had the lump crab cake for dinner and it was without a doubt the BEST! I lived in Virginia for five years and went to college at George Washington so I'm quite familiar with East Coast seafood and I can honestly say the lump crab at the Metropolitan Club is the BEST! I could go on about this place but simply put, if you have the opportunity to go, don't pass that opportunity up for what will end up being one of the greatest dining experiences of your life.

Hard to believe, but almost a year ago I turned in my Single Girl Membership Card and got married…read more Getting married was not something I was looking for. Something in my female DNA might be defective or something because I've never dreamed of my wedding day and how wonderful and romantic it would be. I never thought of it at all. Until my heart was captured by my now husband. My hubs is the romantic one in our relationship. I'm the practical one. I've attended many lovely weddings over the years and completely respect that choices about weddings are intensely personal. To me the money spent on a big lavish wedding could be put to better use elsewhere, such as a new car or down payment on a home. So I was all like "hey, we'll go down to the courthouse and do this thing! I can get on your health insurance! And we can both go back to work afterwards." Hubs, who possesses good sense, said "no way". This was his 2nd marriage and it was important that his young son be a part of the ceremony. He was absolutely right on that point, the kid stays in the picture. But I still didn't want a whole wedding hoo-ha experience. I wasn't going to get sucked into the Wedding Industrial Complex, with its ice sculptures, junior bridesmaids, rehearsal dinners, and custom printed cocktail napkins with our names and the wedding date "Find someone to marry us," I ordered. The hubs found our wonderful wedding officiant, Jodi Arbor Johnson of Waterfront Wedding Services. Jodi was immediately responsive, letting us know her available dates, sample vows and the required procedures in Virginia to get married. Because we were doing this on a budget of nil, we asked Jodi for suggestions or free parks or other areas where we could do the ceremony. She suggested some excellent options, we checked them all out, and fell in love with a small, quirky sculpture garden in Tide Lock Park on the waterfront in Old Town. Mother Nature granted us the most exquisite weather possible on our wedding day. Jodi was there on time and ready to go! I really thought I might faint or something because I was so Totally Freaked Out About Getting Married, but Jodi's high energy and warm likeability immediately eased my nerves. Instead of being nervous I laughed my way through the ceremony. It was fun - and having fun took nothing away from the solemnity or seriousness with which I took my vows. Our ceremony was non-religious and informal, but Jodi does larger weddings and can officiate weddings in VA, DC, & MD. Overall, this was a fun experience and I am glad I got to enjoy it in such a way.
