East side

I started off skeptical because they adjusted our reservation time from 8 to 9pm against our will for a private event. BUT they offered my group of 8 a free round and honored that promise. We appreciated the gesture. When we got in a few minutes after 9, we had a total blast. Live piano karaoke is a concept I hadn't experienced before! It's very cool! The pianist was great and has a large repertoire (make sure to pick something in the song book or she can't play it!) we liked the East Side cocktail a lot. Service was fantastic and everything was great. I definitely want to go back.

This is the perfect date night spot! Whether a solo date, friend date or romantic date, Sid's is it. As you walk in you're greeted by the host, you have the option of chilling at the bar (there's ample seating) or stepping behind the curtains and entering the request room. Once you enter the request room, you have a 2 hour seating limit, with a $15 drink minimum per person for a party of 2. The seating is intimate and welcoming, with a few seats around the piano. The drinks were decent and typical DC prices, our server was very swift and took care of the entire section without a fuss. What I really loved about Sid's is the atmosphere; it's welcoming, elegant and sexy. Some brave souls got up and sang songs of their choice, you have the option to choose a song from the pianists QR code or request your own. It was truly an experience and I can't wait to go back again.

The bar area passed the vibe check. Nice atmosphere but can get pretty loud since karaoke is going on in the other room. Theres a 2 hour limit and $15 min per person when you reserve a table for karaoke. I wasn't impressed with the song selection but I enjoyed people watching. My drink was good(whiskey sidecar). There's no food service. Service was really good. This is a place to grab a drink with friends.

What an experience! This place doesn't offer food, but the cocktails are A1! The hostess was so pleasant and gave me the sweetest compliments! The ambience is very laid back, city vibes if that makes sense! The pianist had such a heart personality and was willing to play songs not on his request book. Overall great experience. I will be back. Order the espresso martinis!!!

such a unique and fun way to spend a weekend night - the energy was ecstatic in the piano room, one of those places where you really feel the community of dc - a solid cocktail menu with average to high prices. espresso martini was perfectly sweet, needed those 3 beans on top though! - only food is the "sid snack" tray so come satiated - the piano room is small and closed off from the entry way room with the bar. get a reservation as this place is packed from wall to wall and they do not like walk-ins!! - the pianist, John, had a large selection of songs you could choose from. after submitting your name and song, he call our randomly names of submitters. - annoying a bit how he allowed the same people up multiple times, but the energy was positive and everyone joined in singing and clapping along

Dan Neustadt makes this for me the most enjoyable karaoke experience. The servers - waitresses - waiters are calm and courteous. Good manners are so soothing. I would imagine that Paul is the manager or franchise owner and he infuses a unique stability, gravitas of gaiety. Many of the singers have gorgeous voices. Some want to be, others are, and some will be professional singers. We are all on different measures of the song of our life, and everyone who wishes will have a good time. There's a large variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. I like the ginger. Something warm and soothing will be suavitas per la voce. Sid Gold's D.C. -- haven't yet had the pleasure of the NYC and Nashville--because strangers, if there is such a thing, cheer and encourage one another as we sing, taking turns, and this results in actual voice improvement as a particular song progresses: hermosa experiencia. I've been blessed to sing in karaoke places coast to coast in a bit of California, Arizona, Utah from Los Angeles and Kern Countiesthrough Maryland, Prince Georges Montgomery County into the District of Columbia, Las Vegas in Salt Lake City. I know there's a lot more to enjoy but among those this singer has experienced, Sid, Dan, Paul, are my favorites. One bonus re Paul, as you will feel, hear, and see is he gets excited when the singer or happy couple or trio or quartet or the sextet starts to click. He gets energized. He enjoys playing the piano, he plays very well, and he enjoys people singing well or even not singing well. It's not about being graded. We come to have fun, escape loneliness, and have some communion with other pilgrims on this adventure of life. So go up there and sing. Our companions want us to do well, i.e. have fun. Haven't experienced yet one bad side effect of singing.

I am so happy I found this piano bar! It was such a rest time from the moment I walked in. The espresso martinis are delicious! The hostess who greeted us upon arrival was such a sweet heart. The piano player is so talented and everyone in the room was having a great time. Definitely somewhere I'll be taking more of my friends!

My husband and I stopped in Sid Gold's just to grab a quick drink but we ended up really loving it!! The piano player was excellent and it was so fun watching people request songs and go up for karaoke. Our bartender was really nice and my espresso martini was great! The ambiance was very vibey and I loved all the art on the walls. This would be such a fun place to go with a group of friends. Overall, such a good unexpected experience and I will definitely be back!!

They were very accommodating and prompt in communication. I was a long-distance bride, so having their punctual responses to emails / phone calls was very important to me. They showed up early on the day-of, had everything set up on time, and even set up an outdoor sound system for my ceremony music (my family performed, but they came through with a full sound system, keyboard, and speakers). My family isn't really a DJ family, so I was looking for something more unique and personal. I listened to a few multiple-piece bands, but I couldn't really tell them apart. Then I found Cutting Edge - they were exactly what I was looking for. I really appreciated that they were interactive and read the audience very well. They played piano renditions of whatever songs were requested, which made it even better. There were songs that I never would've thought could've been played on the piano - but they were awesome versions, even better than the original! They did a lot of fun dueling pianos-things, and even made my husband stand up and sing the chorus to "Let It Go" from Frozen, because one of the toasts mentioned that he knew the words to the song. They played and sang, then put him on the spot when the chorus came and just stopped singing. Everyone loved it! You could never do that with a DJ! I got so many compliments on their performance, and really, I can't emphasize enough how different it was that even my aunts and uncles were out on the floor dancing. It was so unique and fun; I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who's interested.

The space feels so intimate, which makes the whole experience more personal and memorable compared to larger, more crowded venues. The atmosphere was great from start to finish, and everything felt well-organized. The service was also a highlight, our server was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made us feel really comfortable throughout the night. Even though the food was just alright, the overall experience more than made up for it. Between the vibe, the quality of the show, and the excellent service, it's definitely a place I'd come back to again and recommend to others looking for a unique night out/date night!

The entry process into the venue was really straight forward and smooth - we arrived about 40 minutes ahead of the concert and were led very quickly to our seats at the bar. They were very well prepared for the event - there were alot of staff, bartenders, and waiters catering to guests needs. The food and drink options were really nice. I had the burger, which was GREAT, and my girlfriend had the brisket sandwich which she really enjoyed too. The fries might've been the highlight of the meal though; they were wonderfully seasoned and fresh. I kept it simple with a bottled beer and she had a reisling - no complaints at all on our drinks. Shoutout to our bartender; she was very attentive even though the space was completely sold out. I like that the majority of the seats in the venue have at least a partial view of the stage. For those seats that are out of stage view, there are plenty of TV screens scattered around and above the bar to give everyone a chance at viewing the stage. I do think that the sound quality could be improved - we sat a little ways away from stage and definitely fought through some distorted or unclear sound. Maybe a speaker or two in the back of the venue would help. Perhaps it was because Destin's show was very popular, but we had ALOT of trouble buying our tickets online. Their site stalled or crashed several times while we were trying to purchase tickets. Would've loved to have a smoother purchase experience. This place has alot of soul; it's a perfect date night spot. Would happily come back again to see other artists, musicans, and vocalists.

OVERALL: The music is great, the vibe is great, the service and food are fine. It's just all about the ambiance at the tables (which is the entire club) and talent on stage! The tricky thing with venues that have a minimum order requirement is I feel compelled to rate them also then on what they're making you do, not just what the venue's real heart and soul is about. FOOD AND SERVICE: I've been here a few times now and the food and service are consistently 3 stars. It's a limited menu with entrées averaging around $30, apps and cocktails generally about $15. Some of what comes out doesn't actually match the description on the menu, which is further disappointment. But that's not why you go: It's all about the ambiance and the jazz music. I've been to some venues that require a minimum order and some that don't. My biggest issue is if it's a rule, it NEEDS to be communicated when you're paying for your tickets. It's currently not, and that's one of my biggest gripes. We first found out about this req only after paying $200+ for our non-refundable tickets, specifically, at our table when we opened our menus to order. (We'd bought 4 tickets as a gift; our friends were on a budget; and half of us weren't drinking, so we'd just planned to share an appetizer or two. None of us walked in expecting to drop an extra $40/person--an unpleasant surprise.) FYSA they also have a silence policy during shows, so if you want to chat, plan to arrive in advance of the show. Wasn't an issue for us and is very reasonable to expect, but noting here since it's also not actually mentioned on the website, and if you're new to the scene, you may not realize that. Just another helpful note to know before you go!
