I had to cancel my appointment to day because my dog has taken a turn for the worst and is in a lot of pain so we have to euthanize her. The Wubby has been talking about cutting her hair short for quite some time now but kept going back and forth if she should. I told her to let me look for a good spot & queer friendly barber and I'm so happy I found them on yelp. Then i checked out their IG and saw they love doggys as much as we do heehee....that was what sold us hahaha. I've had some pretty bad experiences across Long Beach. But D&D Parlour from the get-go has provided the best work, most welcoming environment, and an overall relaxing atmosphere for my cuts. Zoe has also worked with me over the years to change my style, what products to use, etc. Like all shops, pricing has gone up and I would note that this is a premium haircut option. But you get a razor shave, hot towel service, and even a massage so you know its worth it! If you're typically in-and-out and just need to check a box for a cut, this place might not be for you. I have been going here for 6 years now and am super happy to see the place expanding/growing! The shop was also able to weather through the pandemic strategically which tells you how smart the owner (Zoe) is. Back to the haircuts--Zoe is always professional and cares what your hair looks like before walking out of her shop. She is very detail-oriented and meticulous--I always feel so much better after getting a cut from Zoe, or anyone from the shop. Out of loyalty I go to Zoe since she was the first person I went to, but she is completely supportive when I go to the other Barbers in her shop when in a bind for a cut. The cooler part is there have been multiple times strangers on the street compliment my haircuts. Just yesterday another stranger reached out and said "whomever did your fade did an excellent job!". Even had a couple of friends go here recently. Highly recommended if you're looking for a new longtime hair expert, I even trust Zoe enough to decide what haircut go with when I'm feeling like trying something new. What has been even cooler is seeing Zoe share her expertise with the other Barbers and even train an apprentice about her techniques. I've been sitting on this review for a while. Mind you, I rarely write reviews unless the service is splendid or I felt really wronged somehow. The good: they do great cuts, take their time and it is a welcoming shop to queer people. So instance #1 I've had maybe 8 haircuts or so here, the first three times or so I came on my skateboard (this is how I get around the city, I do not drive my car around LB) it was never a problem. I set the skateboard down in an untrafficked placed out of the way and got my haircut. Then on my 4th haircut or so, they had a dog in the shop. The dog had a thing or something against skateboards and was very ill behaved in its presence. I was told I couldn't bring the skateboard in the shop bc it was a "liability." This is a lie, no such liability exists, not to mention there is quite literally a full sized motorcycle inside the shop. I was told to leave it outside, in downtown where it would easily get stolen. After seeing my disappointment they finally caved and let me bring it inside. I went back bc I did really like their cuts, this time walking. Instance #2 after visiting like I said 8 or so times I missed an appt, emergency, called as soon as I could. Like you'll see in previous reviews no sympathy for the situation and a $35 charge. I've tipped 20% or more for every one of my haircuts, I as a customer get their backs, but no sympathy in return. If you read bad reviews, you'll see how many people get gaslit by the shop in response. It seems like once they decide you did them wrong, they become hostile and rude. All respect to small businesses in this economy, but you have to get your customers backs in the same way they support you. From a small business owner myself, this is a terrible way to run a business. read more

Great attention to details. Karla was very careful to manage the little spiky hairs that usually go everywhere. No itchies for me! And what a great vibe. That was about 3 years ago now and Zoe has always done an amazing job with my hair. I always get compliments, which is a testament to her skillset. Getting a seltzer while I wait is like heaven on a Friday afternoon. Folks are lovely. Both times I went there were ladies getting their hair colored and cut and they honestly looked so good I was impressed with the skill! It's a perfect balanced of not feeling rushed and also taking the time to make it look as perfect as possible. Made an appt and I was running late called and told them I'd be 13 mins late and the woman said she might be able to cut the side but might not have time to cut the top. I even told her I'm not too picky when it comes to haircuts I just need my hair shorter. Took my chances and told her I'm on my way. Got there 14 mins after my appt and she straight up told me no. Had an amazing experience at D&D earlier this week. I've been shaving my own head for the past 20 years (only been to a barber a handful of times during those 2 decades). Recently I grew out my first full beard so I've been learning the in's & out's of that realm. I read the stellar reviews on Yelp and decided to make an appointment with Zoe. I had walked by the shop several times and from the outside it looked so classy & stylish. Needless to say, I was blown away by the experience. After that I followed her to a small, private barber suite. During this time, there was a bigger picture in play. That picture was the new Dappers & Dames barbershop that now exists on Broadway, in downtown LBC. Zoe and Erin are the best. I look forward to my appointment every two weeks. I get a great traditional shave and beard trim, complete with hot lather, and hot and cold towels. The last two trips, I tried the black mask facial treatment. Of course, my husband would forget to get a haircut before we leave on our cruise, so I was left scrambling to find a place close to the cruise terminal in Long Beach. As luck may have it, Dappers & Dames Parlour had an appointment available, so we snatched it up. First of all, this place is absolutely adorable, as are the two gals working. I'm terribly with names, so I am praying they forgive me! The blonde with short hair got to work on Don's overgrown, off kilter hair while I chatted it up with the awesome motorbike riding gal waiting in the wings. I watched how meticulously she cut his hair with scissors, none of that clippers bull-crap. Pure artistry going on here in this shop! Plus, they put up with my husband's slightly inappropriate ramblings. I wanted to give them all the moneyyyyy...but settled for a nice tip and the purchase of a cool branded hat. I can't speak on the quality of their cuts, and I was super excited to check this place out since they are supposed to be really great for LGBTQ+ and non-binary, however it says walk-in's welcome, and I called yesterday and they said they have plenty I'd walk ins available this weekend, however when I came around they looked at me as I walked in with disgusted faces, didn't ask me how I was or greet me. They basically shoo'd me out and said they do not take walk ins and are booked until Thursday..? The vibe was really awkward and rude and I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable getting a cut there. Edit: I find it very telling that you gaslight me in response to my experience of you shop and imply I am falsifying my feelings and opinion. I would never want someone to feel as I did, and made to look like an idiot in front of others as I was, then implying that I would lie on a review.
