Came to Long Beach for a work trip and needed a quick & quality cut, Karla did just that. Crushed it. Her and Zoe were very friendly and have a cool shop. Will be back in the future. read more

I've been seeing Zoe for many years now since the end of the pandemic. She is by far one of the best barbers I've came across in my lifetime. She is consistent, meticulous and dedicated to her craft. Her fades are on point and beard trim/shape along with warm towel and a shave has me looking the best I've looked in years. Make sure you arrive 15 minutes early to make up for the typical Long Beach parking situation. read more

Disappointing first experience. I booked my first appointment with Karla, who did an okay job. I was a few minutes late because I had trouble finding parking, which I take responsibility for. Karla called to confirm I was still coming, and I confirmed, explained, and apologized. When I arrived, I apologized again. Instead of simply acknowledging my lateness and without even saying hello, Zoe immediately lectured me in front of everyone about the salon's 10-minute grace period. Her condescending comment that there was "a spot right in front" was especially unnecessary, as it was a 24-minute parking space, not a reasonable option for a haircut, and I certainly don't want the parking ticket. I understand being 15 minutes late is inconvenient (that's on me), but kindness and professionalism go a long way, especially in the service industry. Unfortunately, the atrocious customer service and poor attitude made this a very disappointing first experience. I won't be booking again, and based on the other reviews, I am not the only one. read more

I had unfortunately a terrible experience. It was my second visit & I left without a haircut and feeling like the owners thought it was okay to make me feel like a burden. I arrived on time and Zoe was finishing up another haircut. I asked to use the restroom & she said they didn't have one and that I could go at the pizza place across the street. I remembered from my last visit where care & detail was put into my cut that the next client was waiting around 15 mins & I figured this was just within a grace period window. I go to the pizza place and about 10 mins pass because I needed to order something and Zoe calls me telling me she's been waiting and we are almost 15 minutes into my haircut now and that they run "a tight ship". I was already feeling uncomfortable by the way she spoke to me on the phone but I went anyway because I had a positive first visit. When I arrived they both made me feel rushed and unwelcome. I wanted to know where to put my pizza which I only ordered so I could use the restroom & they told me not on the couch but also not where to put it & finally I gestured to the counter and they seemed ok w that however inconvenienced. Then Zoe tells me let's just get started and I feel rushed into the chair and it was up higher so I couldn't easily sit on it and she said "ok we're already off to a rough start. These are $5,000 dollar chairs" and then proceeds to demonstrate to me how I should sit in the chair. Perhaps the chair is common knowledge but to position yourself as a queer inclusive barber shop and then to speak to me so condescendingly. I was neither accommodated for using the restroom nor for adjusting the seat nor offered common customer facing professionalism. After I began to cry & look visibly uncomfortable she offered an apology and that we should talk about it but i didn't feel comfortable with that after being made to feel so uncomfortable in the space by both of them. I wish she would have reached out afterwards. I had a good first experience and wanted to find a place I could get gender affirming haircuts. So disappointing and discouraging. read more

This was my first time getting my hair done here and I absolutely loved it! The place was clean, had good vibes and both Karla and Zoë were professional and kind. Karla did an amazing job with my cut and color! I highly recommend this place! read more

I've been getting my beards trimmed with them for about a year now. I had to cancel my appointment to day because my dog has taken a turn for the worst and is in a lot of pain so we have to euthanize her. Without any words of sympathy Zoe tells me that she's going to have to charge me a $35 rescheduling fee. She lost my business. So heartless and cold! read more

First time coming here. I liked my haircut but found my barber to be judgmental, so I won't be coming back. You'd think for a $65 haircut your barber could at least provide a comfortable environment Edit: I had an appointment with Karla in mid August read more

The Wubby has been talking about cutting her hair short for quite some time now but kept going back and forth if she should. I told her to let me look for a good spot & queer friendly barber and I'm so happy I found them on yelp. Then i checked out their IG and saw they love doggys as much as we do heehee....that was what sold us hahaha. I called in last minute to see if they had an opening for Saturday morning and I'm so happy they did. Karla was very patient with us and listening to us on what type of haircut the Wubby wanted. Karla took her time and didn't rush during the whole appt. She did such an amazing job and went above and beyond. The cut and style came out soooo perfect & nice. Zoe & Karla were also so helpful on what product to use and how to use it. Karla even demonstrated exactly how to use the product so the Wubby wouldn't be confused. The atmosphere was very welcoming and chill We're definitely coming back for all her touch ups read more

Dappers & Dames Parlour - Barbers Near Me - Long Beach, California

I have to retract my review. Karla is a wonderful barber but the business itself and the manager Zoe are cold and have poor customer service skills. Do yourself a favor and go someplace else. read more

Been coming to Dappers&Dames for years after discovering the shop on yelp and haven't looked back since. So happy I found this premium barbershop experience in my hometown! I've had some pretty bad experiences across Long Beach. But D&D Parlour from the get-go has provided the best work, most welcoming environment, and an overall relaxing atmosphere for my cuts. Zoe has also worked with me over the years to change my style, what products to use, etc. Like all shops, pricing has gone up and I would note that this is a premium haircut option. But you get a razor shave, hot towel service, and even a massage so you know its worth it! If you're typically in-and-out and just need to check a box for a cut, this place might not be for you. But if you care about your hair/look and want to look forward to your hair cuts every couple weeks, look no further read more

I have been going here for 6 years now and am super happy to see the place expanding/growing! The shop was also able to weather through the pandemic strategically which tells you how smart the owner (Zoe) is. Back to the haircuts--Zoe is always professional and cares what your hair looks like before walking out of her shop. She is very detail-oriented and meticulous--I always feel so much better after getting a cut from Zoe, or anyone from the shop. Out of loyalty I go to Zoe since she was the first person I went to, but she is completely supportive when I go to the other Barbers in her shop when in a bind for a cut. The cooler part is there have been multiple times strangers on the street compliment my haircuts. Just yesterday another stranger reached out and said "whomever did your fade did an excellent job!". Even had a couple of friends go here recently. Highly recommended if you're looking for a new longtime hair expert, I even trust Zoe enough to decide what haircut go with when I'm feeling like trying something new. What has been even cooler is seeing Zoe share her expertise with the other Barbers and even train an apprentice about her techniques. Super fun to watch and experience Zoe share her knowledge with others. I love going here and highly recommend this place for hair care. read more

I've been sitting on this review for a while. Mind you, I rarely write reviews unless the service is splendid or I felt really wronged somehow. The good: they do great cuts, take their time and it is a welcoming shop to queer people. So instance #1 I've had maybe 8 haircuts or so here, the first three times or so I came on my skateboard (this is how I get around the city, I do not drive my car around LB) it was never a problem. I set the skateboard down in an untrafficked placed out of the way and got my haircut. Then on my 4th haircut or so, they had a dog in the shop. The dog had a thing or something against skateboards and was very ill behaved in its presence. I was told I couldn't bring the skateboard in the shop bc it was a "liability." This is a lie, no such liability exists, not to mention there is quite literally a full sized motorcycle inside the shop. I was told to leave it outside, in downtown where it would easily get stolen. After seeing my disappointment they finally caved and let me bring it inside. I went back bc I did really like their cuts, this time walking. Instance #2 after visiting like I said 8 or so times I missed an appt, emergency, called as soon as I could. Like you'll see in previous reviews no sympathy for the situation and a $35 charge. I've tipped 20% or more for every one of my haircuts, I as a customer get their backs, but no sympathy in return. If you read bad reviews, you'll see how many people get gaslit by the shop in response. It seems like once they decide you did them wrong, they become hostile and rude. All respect to small businesses in this economy, but you have to get your customers backs in the same way they support you. From a small business owner myself, this is a terrible way to run a business. read more

I've been looking for a great barber-salon since I arrived a couple of months ago. This place is awesome. Karla cut my hair. Probably the best haircut I've ever got as an adult. Great attention to details. Karla was very careful to manage the little spiky hairs that usually go everywhere. No itchies for me! And what a great vibe. They opened the door and people walking their dogs got pulled in by the poocher doggos. They have regulars they know by name. Super reasonable rates. I already made my next appointment. read more

After my previous barber moved away, I was in desperate need of someone. I asked a friend who always had a great haircut where he went and I made my first appointment at Dappers & Dames. That was about 3 years ago now and Zoe has always done an amazing job with my hair. I always get compliments, which is a testament to her skillset. Also, I highly recommend a full face shave whenever you want to feel extra special, it's a great way to treat yourself and I kinda feel transported to a time when life was much more simple. Love the shop and the vibes, do try to book an online appointment as they do get busy! read more

Getting a seltzer while I wait is like heaven on a Friday afternoon. Folks are lovely. Both times I went there were ladies getting their hair colored and cut and they honestly looked so good I was impressed with the skill! It's a perfect balanced of not feeling rushed and also taking the time to make it look as perfect as possible. Guys short haircut takes about an hour which is as long as I can sit still before I need another seltzer. the folks are also lovely and prefer supporting a small business owned by folks in the community. read more

Zoe never disappoints! Yes, I love being a tad pampered with a hot towel, beard trim/shave and an open ear and suggestions and Zoe hits it every time. Dappers & Dames Parlour - Barbers Near Me - Long Beach, California

Finding a barber who listens, is willing and able to take what you say and put it into a perfect cut, is much harder than you'd expect. Zoë, the shop owner, has been that for me for over 4 years. She's kind, inclusive of all, and amazing at what she does. She even remembers my preferred haircut after weeks without seeing her. I can't recommend Dappers and Dames Parlour and Zoë enough. read more

Made an appt and I was running late called and told them I'd be 13 mins late and the woman said she might be able to cut the side but might not have time to cut the top. I even told her I'm not too picky when it comes to haircuts I just need my hair shorter. Took my chances and told her I'm on my way. Got there 14 mins after my appt and she straight up told me no. I know there's no guarantee id be seen but to just get there and be denied without any consideration is just frustrating esp when you work a lot and don't have much time on your hands. Thanks a lot! Hope the next time you need a nurse they say no to you. read more

Had an amazing experience at D&D earlier this week. I've been shaving my own head for the past 20 years (only been to a barber a handful of times during those 2 decades). Recently I grew out my first full beard so I've been learning the in's & out's of that realm. I read the stellar reviews on Yelp and decided to make an appointment with Zoe. I had walked by the shop several times and from the outside it looked so classy & stylish. Needless to say, I was blown away by the experience. Zoe & her partner Erin have created such a beautiful space. It felt great just being in there. Zoe is the real deal. A master of her craft. As a chef, I can really appreciate her artistry. I came in for a head shave & beard trim/line up. What a luxurious experience!!! Plus, Zoe was playing all the classics from the 80's as an added bonus! My wife was very pleased with impeccably groomed appearance (as was I). I've already booked my next appointment for 2 weeks from now. Can't wait! Thanks so much Zoe!!!! read more

I've been getting cuts here for 3 years now (ever since growing out the buzz cut) and Zoe still continues to amaze me with her level of skill. I like that she gives great consults to supplement my own ideas and preferences. I can't wait for my next haircut! read more

I have been coming to Zoe for over 3 years. First at a "chain" shop down on 2nd street. Then downtown Long Beach at a local owned barber joint. After that I followed her to a small, private barber suite. During this time, there was a bigger picture in play. That picture was the new Dappers & Dames barbershop that now exists on Broadway, in downtown LBC. Zoe and Erin are the best. I look forward to my appointment every two weeks. I get a great traditional shave and beard trim, complete with hot lather, and hot and cold towels. The last two trips, I tried the black mask facial treatment. Anyway, if you need an amazing shave, cut, etc., support this local business. These girls are awesome, and the constantly booked appointments show it. (Make appt.) read more

You haven't had your hair cut until you've been to Dappers & Dames!!! Erin gave me the first REAL haircut I've had in years. Not only did she fix my mop, she made it look like the picture I showed her (a cut done on someone else that got faded @Dappers & Dames). Erin was easy to talk to, the music in the shop was perfect, shop is super clean & comfy, fresh product smells wafted through while I was almost falling asleep in Erin's chair; unlike the chemical stench you get in a regular salon & the price can't be beat. Went for my first haircut here last week. I booked my appointment online with Mari. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and seated. I don't even how the words to describe how fantastic my husband's hair looks! Of course, my husband would forget to get a haircut before we leave on our cruise, so I was left scrambling to find a place close to the cruise terminal in Long Beach. As luck may have it, Dappers & Dames Parlour had an appointment available, so we snatched it up. First of all, this place is absolutely adorable, as are the two gals working. I'm terribly with names, so I am praying they forgive me! The blonde with short hair got to work on Don's overgrown, off kilter hair while I chatted it up with the awesome motorbike riding gal waiting in the wings. I watched how meticulously she cut his hair with scissors, none of that clippers bull-crap. Pure artistry going on here in this shop! Plus, they put up with my husband's slightly inappropriate ramblings. I wanted to give them all the moneyyyyy...but settled for a nice tip and the purchase of a cool branded hat. I truly thank them for their hospitality, their incredibly warm service and a fantastic hair(s) cut. read more

I can't speak on the quality of their cuts, and I was super excited to check this place out since they are supposed to be really great for LGBTQ+ and non-binary, however it says walk-in's welcome, and I called yesterday and they said they have plenty I'd walk ins available this weekend, however when I came around they looked at me as I walked in with disgusted faces, didn't ask me how I was or greet me. They basically shoo'd me out and said they do not take walk ins and are booked until Thursday..? The vibe was really awkward and rude and I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable getting a cut there. Edit: I find it very telling that you gaslight me in response to my experience of you shop and imply I am falsifying my feelings and opinion. I would never want someone to feel as I did, and made to look like an idiot in front of others as I was, then implying that I would lie on a review. I am an avid reviewer and always give an honest and trustworthy review, and unfortunately I feel your shop is just not a good energy or positive experience. read more
