Wow. This place is honestly so fantastic. I have been searching for so long for a new barber shop that actually cuts hair well. When I first arrived I was greeted with a smile and the place was very welcoming. All of the people are so nice and helpful. While I was waiting I was observing them do their work and they all cut hair so well. Something that really made me happy was to see how GREAT they are with kids ! There were a few little ones in there getting hair cuts and they talked to the kids, made them laugh and beat of all this kids felt comfortable in this place. If you have a kid who is scared of haircuts or you want to try a barbershop where they will actually smile please take a visit to dapper cuts. They will tend to any need you a The person I went to was lazar (hope I didn't butcher his name). He was so funny and he treated the kids before me so well. First off, I was coming in with my toddler and baby and was trying to navigate the stroller getting into the place. Lazer (The owner) left his client and came and opened the door for me. That was a great first impression of the place. Second, I meet with Stanley and tell him that my son 2.5 has had some terrible haircuts in the past and that he might scream and not sit still. He educated me about my sons hair how to part it and how to maintain it. Lazer and Stan were just so friendly, professional and really great with kids. I highly highly highly recommend this place. Yes the cost of the haircut is much more than a normal kids haircut, but after weeks of contemplation I was disappointed I didn't go with my gut and went in sooner. Will definitely be back. I went into Dapper Cuts today not knowing what to expect. My normal barber was on vacation and I was in need of a haircut so I figured I'd give the shop a go. When I walked in, I was promptly greeted by Lazer who waisted no time sitting me down in one of their vintage barber chairs that dated back to the 40's. After taking my seat, we got down to business and asked me what I was looking to with my hair. Now, when I've had this conversation with other barbers throughout the years, the typical response I hear from the barber is something along the lines of "yeah yeah yeah, I got you buddy" or "Oh yeah, I can definitely do that for you" and I've been left with haircuts that weren't exactly what I wanted. With Lazer though, he actually listened to what I was saying and was knowledgable of the style I was aiming to achieve and was able to discuss, in detail, what would work best & what wouldn't. You can really tell he has a passion and a vast knowledge of his craft just by the way he talks about barbering. I left the shop more satisfied with my haircut than I have in a long time. Lazer was friendly, attentive, and professional. I've been through my fair share of barbers through the years but the experiences were nothing close to this. Where do I even start?!? Clearly you can see I'm huge on yelping. I just moved to this part of town from queens and after all the unpacking (still much left to do). Me and hubs were in much need of a sprucing up!! I found a Facebook post on this barber opening up close to my house. After stalking this establishment I finally found put they were opening the next day! I said I would be there. Why not support a local new business right? When I walked in I questioned the year lol it's like walking into the 1950 era. Lazer welcomed us with a hello and a smile. I received my undercut shaved perfectly. Hubs got his cut and a part line done EXACTLY how we wanted it. Water is offered and my guy even got a hot towel wrapped around his head. Yes i was jealous. Lol it smelled like eucalyptus which I use for my asthma. Lazer explained it was a anti-fungal as well as had wonderful breathing elements. SAY WHA????? Lol Anyways, the bottom line is, if you want hospitality like you've never had before or basically how we are supposed to treat each other you want to go to dapper cuts. There's a reason why Dapper Cuts came up in a google search for "Best Men's Barbershop in Long Island". After a brief stint in Brooklyn, I moved back to my home town of Massapequa in June, 2017. I was in desperate need of a new barber. Growning up in the area, I've frequented the many cheap barbershops that treat you like cattle. I would often find myself in front of my bathroom mirror fixing my hair after a crappy haircut. I've since gained wisdom when moving back to the Island and immediately found Dapper Cuts and I've never looked back. Lets set the scene: you walk in and are immediately immersed in a space that has been carefully curated in an homage to the "old school" American barbershops of early/mid 20th century. Lazer, the proprietor, hand-picked the various artifacts, posters, font/style, etc.. The place is Cool! All the barbers in this 4-chair shop are welcoming, friendly, and accomodating. They constantly sweep/clean to keep the space looking immaculate. While all the barbers are very skilled in their own regard, Lazer is my man. He is a master at all styles (I currently sport a wavy pompadour fade.) I completely trust his judgement. He will even listen to customers against his better judgement if they are "particular" about their style. I am one of those particular people and Lazer had been extremely patient with my constant questions and suggestions. I recently let him freely do what he thinks is best and was EXTREMELY impressed with the results. My wife LOVED the new look. As they say, "Happy wife, Happy LIFE." There is always great conversation happening at the shop. The barbers maintain a perfect balance between professional and casual. And they are FRIENDLY (yes, I know I said it before, but I mean it.) Dapper Cuts is a very inclusive enviroment. Women should definitely check it out as an alternative to the traditional salon experience. They also have sinks at every barber station. The place is 100% kid friendly. I will take my future kids here for their first haircut. My wife got me the Dapper Me Up special as a Christmas gift. I highly recommend it if you like being pampered. A note on the price: I truly believe you get what you pay for. As an Accountant, I definitely did my research when selecting a new barbershop. When you consider the caliber of their service and overall experience, the price is actually a STEAL. Aside from a major life change, I have No intention of switching barbers. This is my favorite place to get a haircut. From the time you walk in to the time you leave, these guys make sure to give you the best experience ever. They offer you a cold water while you wait and a massage at the end of the cut. Lazer and Stan know how to run a successful barbershop. Each barber In the shop, take their time with each individual client and make sure they leave with exactly the hairstyle they wanted. Lots of jokes, fun and laughter every time I'm in there. Steer clear of Maria in the third chair. How did I let them rope me into a haircut in the third chair? Asked for a skin fade and 3 on top. The fade is lopsided and she shaved part of the back of my head totally bald with a straight razor, but left patches of hair around it. The top definitely isn't a 3, it's more like a 5........ l'm going in there tomorrow and shaving her goddamned head. I went back and spoke with Lazer, what a great dude. He redid my cut about a week after the original and explain to me that the person who had originally done my hair was doing more of an audition. My husband and I brought our three year old in for his very first haircut last weekend (aside from home haircuts). The woman who cut his hair did a great job. She was nice enough and did great job on his hair. The reason I don't think we'll be coming back is because of a barber there named Stan. Not only did I hear him say terribly rude things to a father regarding his son; basically telling him his son talked too much and would hopefully stop talking as much one day. He was also talking about being happy that he didn't have to cut the little boys hair because he cried last time. All of this in front of the little boy. In addition, he kept pushing my husband to buy the beard oil they sell at the shop. My husband said no thank you numerous times and he just continued to push. I never do this but feel compelled. Never before have I received such an awkward experience in a barbershop. My barber was Stan. It started off bad and got worse. Within 15 minutes of the service he asked me for an advance on numerous haircuts at a discount. He said that he only wanted cash. He then proceeded to tell me how much he hated working with everyone in the shop and that he, and he only, could satisfactorily cut hair. From there, he moved on to his brother, which he despised as well, saying that the barbershop is not run well with him as an owner, and that he should run the shop. I didn't know what to say, The dude was just halfway into my haircut. I told him I was just in town on business and that I don't live here. I lied of course. Its too bad, the shop looks nice.
