Decided to give this place a try since I work in the area now and f*k was i let down. Older gent fcked my hair up (last chair to the back). I asked for a fade and got completely butchered. The pros were no wait on a Friday morning & warm shaving cream (blade work was terrible though as the pics will show; makes sense why he didn't even show me the back of my head at end lol). $30 on the card; didn't want to leave a tip but service is service (and now reviews are reviews)... Had to go elsewhere for the fix after i revised & took pics at home; Shoutout Padilla Barbershop in Sea Cliff ($26 for a real fade) to remove/blend the lines... read more

Updated: So I've been coming here for the past 2 years and my my original barber left. For the past year, Stan has been taking care of my cuts. He's someone that you see bi-weekly so he became more than just a barber. You want someone who actually cares. I've never felt rushed and was always 100% satisfied. I gave this place 3 chances with 3 different barbers. Today was the worst of all the experiences. I asked for an undercut & keep the top long.....he gave me a high fade & short on the top.....LITERALLY the polar opposite of what I asked for. He didn't speak English and kept nodding like an idiot (Roman). I said "the top is too short now"....he repeated "it's good right?" WHY are you hiring your non English speaking family members that don't even know what an undercut is and all they know how to cut one hairstyle.....the ugly Russian military style haircut which everyone in mother Russia has and looks horrid................Can you at least ASK if you don't know what the client is saying?? Ive been going to Romans for almost a year and my barber (who I will not mention) was not there. I asked if anyone was available and one of the barbers said he wasnt because his lunch was more important. He was a young guy, pretty tall and was rude and couldn't care less. He told me to have a seat and that someone will be with me shortly. I waited my turn and finally it came. The barber who cut my hair did such a horrible job, not to mention he didn't give me what I asked for. Throughout the whole cut he thought he knew everything and would not take my advice/recommendation. All in all they are all arrogant and do not care about their customers. Have been going to this spot weekly for a year now. Had no complaints until I went last week. My usual barber, Danny, unfortunately broke his hand and was not working. The owner said someone else will hook me up. I waited and got called by this barber named Sean/Shawn. I told him exactly what I wanted. A low fade, trim the top and trim and line up the beard. The fade came out good, but the top of my hair was cut in weird layers. Plus, he pushed my beard down so low it looked like a chin strap, which I shaved off once I got home. If it wasn't for Danny I'd never return to this shop and would give it an even lower rating. If you go here, do yourself a favor and go on the weekend and see Danny or the owner himself, don't go to anyone else. read more

I would not waste my time with this barber ever again. Horrible fade, and the barber named Stan took off my whole beard after asking for it "close to the face" apparently he doesn't know the term close to the face means. I would save the time and effort of ever going to this place. Not to mention I paid $37 for a very mediocre haircut. I know it's Long Island but come on you got to give a better cut than I got. The barber was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable but at what cost if I hated the way I looked after the cut. Overpriced and bad execution. I've never left a review until now - bad experience. For the record, this is not a review on the shop or of the other barbers, this is just a review on the one barber that destroyed my beard. Mistakes are mistakes, but my barber seemed distracted, annoyed, and more interested in a conversation he was having with other people. My advice - ask the barber trimming your beard if he has experience with beards (and if it seems like he's having a bad day, walk out). I knew I made a mistake when my barber's first cut with his clippers was a quick swipe upward, against the grain, at the thicker part of my beard. All I heard was that sound clippers make when cutting through a chunk of hair. I was very specific with what I wanted, "just a little off, just a light trim..." After leaving, my mustache was lopsided and there were sections of my beard that were uneven (I even noticed another barber look at my beard and give a subtle but noticeable facial expression, almost as if he was saying - yeah, not a good cut). Been growing my beard for months, had to bring it down to a stubble when I got home to erase the mistakes. Anyone maintaining a beard knows exactly what I'm talking about. I'm sure they give great haircuts, but the hair on your head is not the same as the hair on your face - like i said, just make sure you ask your barber if he has experience with trimming beards. read more

Highly recommend this place. Great atmosphere, play really good music while you wait, if their is a wait, which all depends on the time and day. Even if it is packed they are very quick, efficient, and proper when it comes to how they cut your hair. They also have plasma tvs so your being entertained even as you wait and not just sitting there bored waiting for your turn. As soon as you walk in, your highly acknowledged! Overall good experience. Never had a problem for when they cut my hair. They do really nice fades and tapers. Also they give really good input on how you should cut your hair when your indecisive on what you want or how you want it. I go to Adam, who i think runs the place. Nice, clean barber shop that does a decent job. Only problem is that the prices they charge are ludicrous. I came here for several months because it is close to my job, but got sick of paying the ridiculous prices. Haircuts used to be $17 but were recently (about a year or less ago) increased to $18. Seems like a selfish way for the owner to net more profits for himself while hurting the barbers because they get less of a tip. I get a basic buzz cut and to pay that kind of money doesn't make sense considering they don't do such an amazing job. I now go to a different place(South Shore Barber Shop in Massapequa) where the haircut is much cheaper, better, I can tip more and still pay less than this place, and I get treated better by a barber who is grateful for my business. read more

I went in for a haircut I had a while ago and had a picture ready to show to the barber. When he asked me if I wanted an undercut I honestly stated I didn't know and that I just wanted what was in the picture. Towards the end of the cut he asked if he should trim my beard even though it was already short since I trimmed it the day before. After the whole ordeal I exit the shop with an uneven top and a beard trim that didn't even follow my jawline, not to mention the hairline towards the back was also slanted and uneven. I got charged 30 dollars for the whole thing and when I went back to get it fixed he literally only cut off a bit more. I had to go to another barber who shaved my whole head entirely and only charged me 5 dollars out of pity. read more

It's difficult to find a good barber in Long Island. That changed until I came to Roman's. My hair is kind of complicated, but Danny managed to give me a very clean cut and beard trim. There was thorough communication throughout the haircut and he made sure I was informed at every step along the way. I would highly recommend the $35 special for an excellent haircut, beard trim, and eyebrow cleanup. It's a great deal and you'll leave feeling/looking amazing.
