    Veal sandwich
    Mike I.

Ordered a party size pizza and 4 veal sandwiches last Saturday night. When calling in to place the order was advised the order would take 1-1/2hr for delivery but the order took just a couple minutes under 2 hrs. Pizza was not very hot and very expensive ($40 for party size). The veal sandwiches were also expensive at $13.19/ sandwich with very little veal in the sandwich. Small pieces of veal to make it look like a lot of meat. Would not recommend as there are definitely better places at lower prices in the GTA to choose from.

On one visit, I had Dante's Fiesta: veal, spicy sausage & meatballs in tomato sauce with red pepper, mushroom, onion & mozzarella. It was pretty tasty (though the spicy sausage wasn't spicy), and was a big portion. It serves 2 (though this is not stated on the menu). I liked that there was a mix of 3 types of meat. It came with a side (I chose oven baked wedges) and some bread. Both were alright. On another visit, I had the Super Deluxe pizza. It was okay. The vegetables were on the raw side and it was kind of pricey. Ironically given the name, you're better off sticking to other dishes and getting pizza elsewhere.

Close up of the Meat Lovers side.

This is not your typical Pizzeria, the sizing are a little bit different than other pie shops. The sizes go from Mini (12"), small (14"), medium (16"), large (18"), & party (21"x15"). Decided on a small thin crust pizza with half Meat Lovers and half Pepperoni. A whopping total of $31.63. We bring the box inside the car and immediately the scent of bacon and pepperoni is whirling in the air. It smells meaty, fresh, and mouthwatering. The box is open and it presented a loaded amount of toppings including pepperoni, bacon, salami, and sausage. This looks real good. So good that I became hungry again after eating a couple hours ago. Let's move to the taste test. Taking a bite into the pepperoni pizza, I realize the strong bold taste of the meat. This is really high quality pepperoni, however as I continue to eat the pie - I realize something. The tomato sauce was not apparent to me in any way, shape, or form. BUT, let me tell you this. The dough on this pizza was incredible. Thin, consistent, and chewiness was spot on. Real addictive, that crust. On to the Meat Lovers half, this was much more oily and greasy. It was kind of hard to eat because the toppings would fall off. The bacon was soft and chewy, so do not expect crispiness. The combination of the meats overpowered the bland sauce and cheese. Left a bit of a salty aftertaste due to the concentration of meats. If there was less oil, this pizza would be a 4 star for sure. The way this pizza was cooked, it was done with care and love. It was cooked to perfection, no burnt pizza bottoms or crust. The pizza was decent, the crust and the meats were the highlights today. It was made to order, aromatic, and hot. Not a budget friendly option, a pay day cheque would be alright here. -TwoHappyThumbs

Look at all the toppings. Their super deluxe is amazing !!!

What can I say Always has been And Hopefully always will be The top spot for gourmet pizza in the gta Very pricey but worth every penny For all the toppings on the pizza The meatballs The homemade sauce And The great quality This place rocks

Very small for $11.99. Bring back the original veal sandwiches! Hard bread, hardly any veal compared to what they used to make - disappointed

I come from Thornhill, home of the original Dante's. We were customers for over 17 years while they were on Bay Thorn Drive. Imagine my disappointed when they moved to Vaughan. We ordered a few times even paying the crazy $15 delivery charge to get their super amazing veal sandwiches & pasta to our house in Markham once we moved. As delivery charges rose up, we stopped ordering. Honestly, i didn't give them a second thought until recently when someone mentioned that Dante's closed and the same family opened Paoletti's Pizzeria. I was so excited because just last night, hubby was heading home from work and after a week of craving those amazing veal sandwiches, hubby was 10 min away from Paoletti's! Our take-out order was: 1 steak sandwich, 1 veal sandwich and 1 order of Vodka Penne. The veal sandwich - WHAT HAPPENED?!?! Very little veal, bread was very hard & impossible to bite into, hardly any meat (yes, so shocked i said it twice!!!) I was very very disappointed in the portion and quality of bread they now use. The cheese was baked on so much, i couldn't see the veal until splitting the sandwich apart. The portion of meat was 1/4 of what they used to serve in their huge soft bread. Not even their super delish sauce could save this sandwich for me and how tough the bread was. Veal was still as tender as ever, but if they continue to use the same bread, i won't be back unless it's for pizza & pasta to order. Their sandwiches used to be huge - so much meat you could use the bread given with the pasta to make a second sandwich. Certainly not the case anymore. The only thing that saved the meal for us, was the Vodka Penne - as if time had stood still, still amazing as ever!

SERVICE: 10/10 PIZZA: 4/10 Despite the amazing people working there who are super friendly and nice, I was disappointed in the quality of their pizza. Margherita was flavourless and the crust was too thick. I wish they used Parmesan cheese instead of what appeared to be cheddar cheese. The medium pizza is way too big for 2 people, it's good for 3-4 people. Overall, despite the amazing service, the quality of their pizza simply wasn't adequate for me. I've tried better pizzas elsewhere in the GTA. If you want a good pizza in Vaughan/Woodbridge, I recommend Gelato Gelato Pizzeria (3650 Langstaff Rd, Woodbridge).

Medium parma alfredo was very cheesy & the cheese was gooey. I didn't notice the parmesan; maybe it was mixed in but I didn't taste it. The edge was a puffy crust & the main body had a very nice texture - light & crisp. It degraded after 10 minutes though, becoming floppy & losing the crisp. The sauce was supposed to be alfredo but was a red sauce which was decent. It came with cherry tomatoes; those & the arugula were decent. "Parma ham" was the thickest parma ham ever but was otherwise decent. The pizza came on a plate with paper which got cut up by the knife. Service is functional.

I got a whole dr. pepperoni slice with extra cheese and it came piping hot, cooked perfectly and so delicious. Also got slices of their spicy vodka which is my favourite and a full 5/5 for me. Frank's best is a great change in flavour with goat cheese, mozz, caramelized onions, rosemary, organic honey and a sesame crust. Don't forget to also get their spicy creamy garlic dip and mix it well! Overall, I love this spot and think their pizzas are so good! Their crusts are delicious as well, especially the sesame crust.

What was ordered: 16 inch Fred's Best - white pizza with béchamel sauce, goat cheese, caramelized onions with a sesame coated crust attached with honey 12 inch Dr.Pepperoni - fresh tomato sauce with generous topping of pepperoni 1 spicy creamy garlic dip The verdict? The crust was decent and pizzas are thin. We did find both pizzas a little too greasy for our preference. The flavour of Fred's Best was a combination of sweet from the honey and caramelized onions and salty from the cheese. Dr. Pepperoni was better with spicy kick from the chunks of tomatoes and pepperoni. Salty is the other descriptor I would use. Would we order again? Maybe. At these prices I would consider this special occasion pizza!

I will usually order an individual combo for myself which is 10 wings, fries, & a pop drink. This comes to $8.20, which is mind-blowing and I'll let you know why in a bit. The second option for party nights or UFC fight nights is their combo 3. It includes a large pizza (3 toppings, cheese included), 20 chicken wings, garlic bread, & 4 cans of pop. With all of this food, it will cost you $26.55. Their garlic sauce will cost you $0.25 extra. Starting with the pizza, it is not the best. However with the garlic sauce, it boosts the flavour. The dough is not too thick nor thin and is cooked well to my liking. The toppings does a decent job of holding the pizza to an average standard. This is a perfect pizza for a group of friends who are looking to save money and supporting a local business. Let's move on to the wings. I believe all of their flavours are consistent and appetizing. My favourite goes head to head between mild and BBQ. The mild sauce has a zest and a hint of heat. While the BBQ sauce has some tang and sweetness, not the original smokey flavour. Another plus, is that you will NEVER get raw wings, they will always be 100% cooked and that is a guarantee. Lastly, the sides I get are fries and garlic bread. The fries are similar to Costco fries, which is completely fine with me since I love the texture. The garlic bread gives me an old school vibe filled with nice garlicky and crispy bread. There's an option to add cheese to the garlic bread, but I believe it's best when hot - so do not save this for the next day. -TwoHappyThumbs

This rating is based on a casual dining restaurant experience…read more 3 of us came in for dinner on a Thursday night. I made the reservation in advance and wasn't sure what to expect. The place has been here for years but this was my first visit. It's located in a plaza on the south side of Hwy 7 so there's private parking. As you come in, there's the bar and the entrances to both the main and private party dining rooms. We were quickly greeted and given our choice of seating in either room, as the private party room had only a small birthday party in a little section. We could enjoy a colder temperature in the private room, or average room temperature in the main room where it would be less noisy. We chose the main room and it wasn't uncomfortable. Our host provided our menus and gave a choice of bottled, mineral, or tap water. Tap water in stemmed glasses with ice was fine with us. To my surprise, it came with a full basket of complimentary bread, butter and spicy oil. I have not seen this for years and we appreciated it. We ordered a rice balls (4 pcs) appetizer which came with marinara. They were a good size and had some cheese pull. Our entrees were a Ricky pizza (one of their 20 specialty pizzas); chicken parmigiana; and home made pappardelle with chicken and pesto cream sauce. Our orders were served within a few minutes of each other, all huge, and piping hot. We were offered additional grated cheese tableside. Besides our host, the owner (I assume) came round to serve my husband's Montecristo cocktail and wish him a happy birthday. He continued to check in along the way as well. This restaurant reminds me of being in Calabria at eateries just like this, meaning, the Italian equivalent of the British neighbourhood pub experience. There are families with children who may roam, groups of ladies getting together for a meal, singles having their pizza and beer after work, all in a space that somehow makes you aware of being connected in your mealtime. The food is what you may remember enjoying as a kid at your Italian friend's house: nonna's home made everything, from the bread and oil to the pasta and tomato sauce. It's not fancy, it's plentiful and hearty home food. The tomato sauce is fresh, exactly what all my family produces from their own jarred tomatoes. My chicken was cooked through without being dry. The pizza was nicely crisp and charred, straight from their wood oven. The pesto cream pappardelle was delicious, with plentiful pieces of grilled chicken. Both my daughter and I had half our meals left to enjoy later. You can order half portions for half the price. My husband managed to devour his whole pizza. He even ate the crust - which he never does. We didn't order wine or dessert as that was waiting at home. I didn't think to check if they offer any prosecco besides the basic wine list but their website is very well done, so I will look again, because I would definitely return. It will be like being back in my family town in Italy.
