I've been ordering from Dantes for over 45 years and never experienced an issue. Until now. I am from out of town now so when I'm in Toronto I always get a dantes pizza for myself. I ordered a party size pizza on Wednesday, had some for lunch, then had some for dinner. On Thursday I had some for lunch and dinner again. We'll Friday morning is when it all went down hill. Diarrhea, sweats, hi temperature, nausea and vomiting from about 1am to 6am, it was terrible. I went to a walk in clinic and was told it was food poisoning. The doctor asked what I ate and I told him what I wrote above. He told me to drink a lot of water and rest. So when I got back to where I was staying I called Dantes and spoke to the lady who answered the phone. I told her what the doctor said. She said nobody else called about food poisoning and she said she finds it hard to believe that I only ate the pizza. I have over half the pizza left and I will be discarding it after I provide the health department a sample. Like I said earlier, I've been a Dantes regular customer for over 45 years and all I wanted was a refund. She apologized to how I felt but said no to the refund. It's a shame that this is how they chose to deal with a longtime customer. Now I see more clearly by other reviews, all is good unless you have a problem and if you do they will not do anything because they believe they are prefect and never make any mistakes . Foras long as they are staying open, I will never order again. Food poisoning is an awful experience. The lady also said that I don't have to order again from Dantes. I have been eating at Dante's / Paoletti's / Dante's for about 20 yrs now, and no matter what the name or location they've remained friendly and flavorful! The pasta's are always delicious and authentic, as the busy phone lines will attest to. Usually a 5-10 min wait via phone during dinner hours, but certainly worth the wait! I recommend the Penne ala Vodka and their Lasagna which I'm now addicted to. Both come with a fresh panini and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Chocolate cake for dessert followed by a nice nap! They only have a few small tables so be prepared to take-away if you're not able to get a seat. I come all the way from the east end of the city to feast on Dante's family recipes, definitely 10 out 10 read more

Ordered a party size pizza and 4 veal sandwiches last Saturday night. When calling in to place the order was advised the order would take 1-1/2hr for delivery but the order took just a couple minutes under 2 hrs. Pizza was not very hot and very expensive ($40 for party size). The veal sandwiches were also expensive at $13.19/ sandwich with very little veal in the sandwich. Small pieces of veal to make it look like a lot of meat. Would not recommend as there are definitely better places at lower prices in the GTA to choose from. read more

On one visit, I had Dante's Fiesta: veal, spicy sausage & meatballs in tomato sauce with red pepper, mushroom, onion & mozzarella. It was pretty tasty (though the spicy sausage wasn't spicy), and was a big portion. It serves 2 (though this is not stated on the menu). I liked that there was a mix of 3 types of meat. It came with a side (I chose oven baked wedges) and some bread. Both were alright. On another visit, I had the Super Deluxe pizza. It was okay. The vegetables were on the raw side and it was kind of pricey. Ironically given the name, you're better off sticking to other dishes and getting pizza elsewhere. read more

This is not your typical Pizzeria, the sizing are a little bit different than other pie shops. The sizes go from Mini (12"), small (14"), medium (16"), large (18"), & party (21"x15"). Decided on a small thin crust pizza with half Meat Lovers and half Pepperoni. A whopping total of $31.63. We bring the box inside the car and immediately the scent of bacon and pepperoni is whirling in the air. It smells meaty, fresh, and mouthwatering. The box is open and it presented a loaded amount of toppings including pepperoni, bacon, salami, and sausage. This looks real good. So good that I became hungry again after eating a couple hours ago. Let's move to the taste test. Taking a bite into the pepperoni pizza, I realize the strong bold taste of the meat. This is really high quality pepperoni, however as I continue to eat the pie - I realize something. The tomato sauce was not apparent to me in any way, shape, or form. BUT, let me tell you this. The dough on this pizza was incredible. Thin, consistent, and chewiness was spot on. Real addictive, that crust. On to the Meat Lovers half, this was much more oily and greasy. It was kind of hard to eat because the toppings would fall off. The bacon was soft and chewy, so do not expect crispiness. The combination of the meats overpowered the bland sauce and cheese. Left a bit of a salty aftertaste due to the concentration of meats. If there was less oil, this pizza would be a 4 star for sure. The way this pizza was cooked, it was done with care and love. It was cooked to perfection, no burnt pizza bottoms or crust. The pizza was decent, the crust and the meats were the highlights today. It was made to order, aromatic, and hot. I come from Thornhill, home of the original Dante's. We were customers for over 17 years while they were on Bay Thorn Drive. Imagine my disappointed when they moved to Vaughan. We ordered a few times even paying the crazy $15 delivery charge to get their super amazing veal sandwiches & pasta to our house in Markham once we moved. As delivery charges rose up, we stopped ordering. Honestly, i didn't give them a second thought until recently when someone mentioned that Dante's closed and the same family opened Paoletti's Pizzeria. I was so excited because just last night, hubby was heading home from work and after a week of craving those amazing veal sandwiches, hubby was 10 min away from Paoletti's! Our take-out order was: 1 steak sandwich, 1 veal sandwich and 1 order of Vodka Penne. The veal sandwich - WHAT HAPPENED?!?! Very little veal, bread was very hard & impossible to bite into, hardly any meat (yes, so shocked i said it twice!!!) I was very very disappointed in the portion and quality of bread they now use. The cheese was baked on so much, i couldn't see the veal until splitting the sandwich apart. The portion of meat was 1/4 of what they used to serve in their huge soft bread. Not even their super delish sauce could save this sandwich for me and how tough the bread was. Veal was still as tender as ever, but if they continue to use the same bread, i won't be back unless it's for pizza & pasta to order. Their sandwiches used to be huge - so much meat you could use the bread given with the pasta to make a second sandwich. Certainly not the case anymore. I've been a big fan since the Baythorn location in the 80's. Nothing comes close to their pizza. Pricey? yes, but they back it up with quality. I lost track of them for a number of years , but happily found them again. In fact , We'll be making the trek today from downtown Toronto. I get a little extra and freeze the slices since we're too far away to just pop by all the time. Support these guys , they are the last of the great independent pizza shops in the city. The veal sandwiches start with a freshly baked bun and their amazing tomato sauce. Loaded with made to order veal and all the good toppings like cheese, mushrooms and peppers. I've been dining here for longer than I can remember.I had issues with the last pizza I ordered I thought because I neglected to order a thin crust. We didn't care for it at all. Today I went by and ordered a thin crust pizza and guess what? It had the same terrible tasting crust. The toppings are the usual high quality but the crust is completely subpar. Tastes to me like something that was previously frozen. I can no longer recommend this establishment for this reason. I have loved Dante's for as long as I can remember, but will not be returning after today. As I was placing an order, I politely asked why there were staff in the kitchen, handling food, while not wearing masks. Rather than taking responsibility, the man advised "it's okay, they are double vaccinated". When I explained the reason for my concern, having had covid a few months ago, being hospitalized, and still battling some lingering effects, I turned around to leave. As I was walking out, 3 other staff members came out to the counter, one demanding I leave, another calling me a "fat cow", and an "ignorant b****." No customer should ever be treated this way! God quality pizza, quality fresh and abundant toppings. Ordered the large which is a greater size than other pizza chains extra large. Pricier than the pizza chains, however I believe you get better quality/quantity ingredients and therefore good value. This will be our new go to pizza place. read more

Although I have only been here once, I have been thinking about their pizza ever since.... I built my own pizza - white base, goat cheese, roasted red peppers. I didn't get many toppings but this was enough to fill me up. I felt full and satisfied after having 2 medium-sized slices, even though I typically can finish half a medium/large-sized Pizza Nova pizza on my own. My friend and I believe that their crust was heavily infused with olive oil. In comparison to your general chain pizza store, Dante's takes the extra step to ensure everything from the dough to the sauce, and toppings are well-seasoned. To be specific, the crust and sauce were adequately seasoned with oregano (I think) and garlic, key elements of Italian cuisine. The only downfall was how the roasted red peppers were not roasted long enough - they were still on the crunchy side. But hey, at least I know they were fresh! read more

Walk in Special for a slice of either Pepperoni or Vegetarian Pizza ($4.99) and $1 extra for a pop. I highly suggest to come in during busy hours or just order a whole pizza baked fresh. My slice has rubbery cheese instead of gooey ooey and the pizza bottom was hard. Luckily the pop selection was really good and I really enjoyed my San Pellegrino Aranciata Rossa (Blood Orange Soda). My original overly-generous 3-STAR REVIEW ( yes, three stars, it's still archived below) apparently bruised the delicate ego of one of the proprietors, (Apparently because I said a $7.50 delivery charge was too high for what Yelp says is a 9km delivery distance, and despite saying that their pasta was very good), so in a blazing display of Paoletti-style customer service, he told me he decided to never deliver to me again. Let the record show, this is the fastest meal to review transition I've ever done. Dante's Pizza reigned supreme for years on Thornhill and Richmond Hill, then some where along the way the owners were forced out by an unnamed corporation and Dante and his brothers swore they'd be back. And back they are - literally a stones throw away from the old location. But they're a little hidden so be sure you're on the look out for the Greenpark Homes plaza - they're in there hidden off to the side. They're really really new and the location is still working the kinks out in terms of organizing the interior. But the pizza... The pizza is just lovely!!! I nabbed a slice and a pop for about $6 taxes in. The slice was super wide, dressed thick with sauce and toppings as Dante and his brothers became known for. The slice was so hot that I've got burnt skin hanging from the roof of my mouth as I write this in the parking lot outside debating whether or not I should go back in for another slice... Come here. I was looking for a good pizza place in the area and I found it thanks to yelp. This place was amazing. I got delivery and the ordering was easy and had fast delivery. The pizza is not cheap but boy is it loaded with toppings. It set a new standard for how bacon should come on a pizza. The pizza war over Dante's has finally ended with the original owners now using the Dante's name. Don't know how that was settled, but it is clearly over. The back door to this business is still labeled Paoletti's, but the front door and packaging are all using the original branding from Dante's. The good news is that the pizza is still the same. One slice of a pie is still a meal, justifying the higher prices. Last night was Halloween so I grabbed a large pie for our teenager and her friends. More than half the pizza was untouched, despite it being delicious. Leftovers! :) Only thing I would warn is that the bacon is quite salty, in case this matters to you. The store was clean and the service was friendly. It was before 5pm, but there were several of us getting our pie to go early. We were offered original or thin crust, but nostalgia made me choose original. So happy to have Dante's back for good. read more

It's fairly good pizza. I'm not rating it as high as the other reviewers... I never went to the old Dante's, so I have no nostalgia for this place to impact the rating. Large size is huge. Easily will feed over 5 people. And there is a generous amount of topping. At just over $30 (for the meat pizza), I thought that it was decent value. I didn't like the crust much though. My main issue was that I ordered "thin crust", but it's not thin at all. It may be very slightly thinner than a regular crust. Also, I thought that the taste itself was fairly standard... def not 5 star. read more

Been wanting to visit for a while, and I've got to say, it was worth the trek! The pizza here is really good and they use really fresh ingredients. We got two 'small' pizzas for three people, the Deluxe and Mediterranean, and we were completely stuffed. It was so much food. Both of the pizzas had tons of really fresh ingredients on them. It shows in both the presentation and taste. The crust was really tasty and crispy at the bottom of the entire pie. Yum. However, I think they were both missing a little *something*. There are a few tables inside, but most people just seem to do take out. Paoletti's pizzas are super hearty and super filling. Unless you really eat a lot of food, I think their portion recommendations are accurate (as in... ONE small pizza for three people, ha!). Will definitely be back some time! read more

We went on a Saturday afternoon, so there wasn't much in terms of a crowd. We ordered our pizza and about 15 minutes later, it was ready for us to consume. There were 3 tables there, so we figured we might as well stay there and eat while the pizza was nice and fresh. We ordered a super deluxe pizza, but I can't remember if we ordered a mini or a small. Looking at the picture doesn't really help me remember. The pizza came topped with a very generous amount of pepperoni, mushroom, onion, salami, red peppers, and tomato. I wish there was a bit more colour to the pizza, it was just all so red. Everything was very fresh! The downside, it was a bit salty for me (may be due to all the meat), and also, I wasn't a huge fan of the crust. I like a chewier crust, this was a bit more bready. I love to eat pizza, but i'm not too familiar with the different kinds of crust and what regions they are from. read more

I am more than willing to pay the hefty delivery fee they used to charge but I guess they do not want me as a customer any longer. I used to go there a long time ago and then all of a sudden they were gone. Then I was driving by and saw their sign in a small industrial plaza. Woohoo!! I ordered the lasagna and it was big enough for 2 people. Only complaint is that I didn't like the bread that came with it. Weird flavour and texture. Been meaning to try a pizza from Paoletti's for quite some time and finally ceased the opportunity last night for Boyz Night with my son, and we weren't disappointed! We ordered a large pie with the traditional tomato sauce, pepperoni and half mushrooms - it was seriously delicious. It was just the two of us, so there was plenty. The size could have easily fed a family of four. Nice large sized slices and they weren't shy on toppings. Of course we also ordered some wings (they offer one style - baked versus fried medium/hot Buffalo), and they were a very tasty addition to our night after hard week of work and first week back at school. We'll be ordering again from Paoletti's - definitely two thumbs up for Boyz Night. Great local pizzeria (and much more) that left us feeling completely content!
