I hired Town and Country Metals to construct an 80' x 125' x 21' building for my farm and the…read morecontract was signed on May 7th, 2021 (see signed contract in attachments). The total cost for this project was $314,400. We made the first payment on the day we signed the contract (5/7/2021) for $101,358.33 and we made the second payment on 2/14/2022 for $202,716.67. This project began over 2 years ago and there have been several problems along the way. The most pressing issue was the ordering and installation of 4 steel doors that were on the signed contract and were paid for upfront. Two 3068 steel insulation entry doors (see picture 2a in attachments). One 6068 metal double insulation solid door (see picture 2b in attachments). One 6068 metal double insulation door with glass (see picture 2c in attachments). On 3/31/2023, we reached out to Nikki Carter to see if the 4 steel doors were ordered and she said yes ma'am, 3 times. Nikki told us that she would check on Monday for the arrival date (which would have been 4/3/2023). She also said that these doors are considered special as the size is not standard and that the frames have to be welded. I point this out because Town and Country Metals designed this building and accurate measurements were given to them by Chris, the general contractor, not us. We never got an update from Nikki after she checked on the status of our door order on 4/3/2023 so we reached out to her several more times (4/5/2023, 4/10/2023, 4/18/2023) and never got a response. On 4/19/2023 and 4/27/2023, we sent messages to Nikki and a mutual friend of hers and ours to see if he would be able to get an update from her and he was unsuccessful as well. On 6/15/2023, one last message was sent out to both Nikki and our mutual friend saying that we received a bid from another company quoting us at $23,823 to purchase the doors and install them for us. We gave Nikki one last chance to come up with an order invoice for these doors and no response. We ended up having to pay an additional $23,823 to complete the work with another company even though we already paid Town and Country Metals for the same work (please see new company signed contract). This issue has yet to be resolved. The second issue that we encountered was that the trim color listed on the contract was Charcoal Grey but the trim that was sent and installed was Polar White (see picture #1). We inquired about some type of restitution because we now have to paint the trim on the other three buildings on the property so everything matches as originally intended. We would not have to do this if the correct trim color was ordered. This issue has yet to be resolved. The third issue was that 10 windows were ordered per the contract but they didn't order them in a timely fashion so our building sat open and exposed to the elements for months and months. We ended up having to put coverings over the windows ourselves so that the interior of the building didn't get damaged. Also, we ended up only needing 9 windows and we asked to be reimbursed for the additional window that we paid for but that has not happened either. These issues have yet to be resolved. Bottom line, if you are looking for a company to construct a building for you, look elsewhere. From the very beginning this was not a smooth or streamlined process whatsoever. There was an extreme lack of communication throughout, tremendous delays in ordering the materials, and materials that should have been ordered and never were. Town and Country Metals left us with an unfinished building that we had to pay another company an additional $23,823 to complete. The new company ordered the doors for us as promised but we are still currently waiting for those to arrive. I have attached several pictures of the current condition of our building (see 9 unfinished door pictures). It's unfortunate that after giving them $304,075 prior to even receiving the metal for our building that they determined it was acceptable to treat us this way regarding items that were listed clearly on the signed contract.

Bruce was fantastic to work with and talked me through everything he was doing. He gave me some tips on efficiency and how we can extend the life of our unit that is on its way out of this world. I really appreciated the fact that I didn't feel uncomfortable writing the check or like they were trying to screw me on anything. I had a problem a few weeks later with my unit again after a bad storm and Bruce walked me through fixing it over the phone just out of his own kindness. I will absolutely be using them again if we have any more issues and when we get our new unit.

The tech guys got it up and running and I was happy to have heat again. The one problem I had, and still do, is when the furnace comes on it sounds like a train is in the next room. It's very loud. Later I heard a lot of noise in the furnace area and investigated and found a lot of plaster pieces on the floor and a large hole in the ceiling above the furnace. I called the Sales guy, Jim, and explained what I saw. He immediately started blaming me and said they were not responsible for anything. I regretted even calling him. I was not asking him to replace the ceiling, I just wanted someone to look at it. I then called the office and talked to the Receptionist who was so sweet and very nicely told me they would have someone come out and look at it, which they did. I was told there was a small hole, to begin with, and with all the work that was done, it probably messed with the hole. I would have liked it if they could have just covered it up with a piece of wood but it wasn't offered.

Shortly thereafter the furnace stopped working. The company that they sent out replaced my furnace but did a horrible job and charged me extra. I contacted Jade at RiteAir and he came out the next day to take a look. He had to remove the unit and redo the sheet metal work in order to make it function properly. He also made a filter tray to enable the air filter to be changed without bending the air filter. My dad was there on site during the work performed by both companies. He was impressed with Jade and the quality of his work. The other company, not so much. I have since used RiteAir Heating and Cooling on two other properties to replace aging HVAC systems. We are both particular with the contractors that we use, and we had both been using another HVAC company for years without problems, but Jade won us over.
