Live music and cheap drinks. Everyone should visit here at least once. Went on a Thursday and got a beer and shot for less than five bucks. The band was great and pretty funny too. Only down side was the cover charge but it was worth the five dollars. The patio was perfect, we could still chat but listen to the band. Great intimate venue for seeing live music...not a bad seat in the house (although you will probably end up standing, if you purchase general admission to a ticketed show). Good service at the bar, drink prices seemed reasonable, and I love that this spot is non-smoking. They don't sell food, but they will let you carry in take-out from one of the neighboring restaurants. Next time I see a show here, I will definitely purchase my tickets in advance and spring for the "VIP" seating, which scores you a reserved table for only a little more. In any event, I would be excited to return to this spot. read more

Dan's is one of my favorite venues in Denton. They have a lounge/seating area for chatting or watching a show, a funky bar set-up, and a roomy back patio. Even when they are at capacity it does not feel stuff because the indoor section is smoke-free. Check it out! read more

Dan's Silver Leaf is probably the single best spot in Denton for seeing live music. The atmosphere is otherwise ok, with acceptable drinks and pricing. I don't often go here when there's not a show I want to see. But, let me tell you, these guys book some amazing groups, and it's also the first pick for most of the traveling bands that come through Denton. They have everything from the local gods to national wonders. Keep an eye out for when there's something worth listening to at Dan's, you won't regret it. read more

This place has music almost every night. Beer prices are reasonable but not the cheapest around. One great thing I love is that they don't allow smoking inside so you don't stink of smoke afterwards. Smoking is allowed in their outdoor seating area. Great place to chill with good eating places right around it in case you get the munchies. read more

Too loud, too hot, way too expensive. Like ridiculous, if you have to ask you can't afford it level drinks, and I'm talking about just beer, god knows what a mix drink costs. Prices not posted anywhere. I went for music and it was so hot from body heat I thought I was going to pass out from exhaustion - and there is no sitting in the main room. Not that you couldn't hear from the patio, or miles away. I had to put ear plugs in just to get it down to deafening. I couldn't hear the music at all through the noise. Not to mention, the stupid expensive price I paid to get in in the first place. I have no clue how people can say this place is cheap and there is literally no seating but the patio. Terrible, just horrible, and I don't care if my favorite band in the world is there, I will never go back. read more

The best dive bar/venue in Denton. Dan's draws better bands than any one venue in Dallas, and it has more kinds of music than most venues as well, western swing, rock, blues, jazz, soul, bluegrass, rockabilly, and on and on. Decent drink prices, great waitstaff. If you go on a night when no one is playing, Dan's fits the standard dive bar image, grizzled regulars lined up at the bar, a haze of cigarette smoke, rag tag decorations adorn the walls. On nights with bands (most nights) the crowd fits the show, with two stepping in front of the stage, or standing room only, or all tables. Oh, and Kate is the best bartender in town. read more

Worked at this establishment for a year until new management arrived and within months was fired by this new manager for not being "beneficial to the company" and later found out from unemployment office that he's been dragging my name through the mud and telling folks I'm a thief and stole from the company. Kind of not cool. Especially since that was not the reason I was given for having to "part ways" with the company and lied to prevent me from receiving unemployment. No method to the madness there. Everybody has a different recipe for their drinks. No drink menu. Tap lines are never cleaned and basically everything is half-assed there. Thankful I no longer work there. Also, don't think that your review is going to matter on here or anywhere unless you're a regular. They don't give a damn about you otherwise. read more

Great live music event. During NX35 2010 I stayed planted at Dan's and was not disappointed. Eclectic works hanging on walls and overhead. Above-average sound. I usually park at the lot near the wells fargo building. A short walk from the square. Good venue. read more

Without a doubt, the best live music venue in the DFW area. The layout makes you feel like you are sitting onstage with the performers. Drinks are reasonably priced as well. The owner is usually there and the bar staff has not changed much in the last ten years that this place has been open. Truly a gem in Denton! read more

Walked up to the door to go in and listen to live music there was no sign for a cover and a guy who didn't even look like an employee stops me tells me he talked to me yesterday I thought he was a screwing with me I told him you don't know me and proceeded to try and walk in then he stops me and tells me there is a $20 dollar cover and I thought he was trying to scam me because the bar was empty. I tried to walk in and he stops me and tells me it's $20 I still didn't believe him so I called the bar to confirm it and it was true but I'm not about to hand my money to a random guy and pay $20 when no one in town is charging that much half the time it's free. He then seemed to chase off the next people that walked up. So I went harvest house it was $2 there was a sign saying exactly what was going on and there was a very obvious area to pay the cover. The door guy is losing the silver leaf money. read more

Not sure what to say is good or bad about this place since its more of a venue than a bar but definitely not a restaurant. The food and watstaff were awful, because they have neither :) The bartenders were polite and speedy and told me i was welcome to bring food from elsewhere as i did. Badically eat before you go and go early if youre a barstooler like me, there are only 2 stools for what lolks like a 6-8 top bar, the outside area was nice and has barstools for the whole bar. The patio door is glass so you can still see the stage if you want to smoke on the patio. I was able to see world class jazz players from a top music college with only about a crowd of 10 people, well worth the visit and cover charge. read more

Dan's is a great place to catch a show and on balmy days/evenings, they have a nice patio. You never know what kind of act will appear, mostly local acts perform but acts from outside the area regularly perform here. If you are the type to be persuaded by the opinions of journalists, the New York Times gave a high rating to Dan's. read more

Love this place, laid back, casual and always great music. Staff is awesome! I love that you can see bands that are more original and have some talent, and not just what is popular at the moment. Malcontents who whine about Dan's are very often: (a.) pretentious, narcissistic, witless automatons from North Dallas, Plano, Frisco & various clone-breeding localities who should probably be staying at home looking at porn, and/or; (b.) wet-behind-the-ears trust fund dullards who won't be listening to live music at all once they start pulling down a paycheck and workplace environment with embellished tales of their glory days in college until they are finally laid to rest for a few peaceful moments before another thousand or so reincarnations on this increasingly wretched planet. Neither demographic can be expected to recognize a true Texas institution featuring an eclectic stew of some of the finest musicians in the zip code, county, region, state, country and world - which means they damn sure aren't capable of appreciating a neighborhood hole-in-the-wall that doesn't rob you blind at the bar. May the eternally just hand of God safely guide them back to the House of Blues or whatever amusement park, laboratory or conformist suburban facade these tribes call "home." read more
