From our very first meeting with Cliff (the company owner!) to the final walk-through with Sam, the project manager, the experience was exceptional every step of the way. The communication throughout the entire process was outstanding. Not once did we feel anything less than a top priority. Texts were answered within an hour, and emails were always returned within hours. That level of responsiveness gave us complete confidence and peace of mind. Mike, Pavlo, and Wade were the primary builders, and they were phenomenal. They treated us like rock stars during the entire three-and-a-half-week build. Mike, the lead carpenter, took the time to explain every phase of the project in detail, which my wife and I truly appreciated. Whitmer Decks removed our old deck and built a beautiful new 14x12 screened porch, along with a 10x10 deck and staircase. Spent an hour at my house discussing and taking measurements. Waited nearly two weeks for the quote and get a call they don't "replace" and confirmed they said they only do new construction per the "manager". Missed HOA deadline for May due to waiting on this final quote to make my decision to submit the application. Frustrating. They clearly didn't want the job or update your website to remove "deck replacement".

Craig and the excellent people he works with not only gave us a detailed, thorough estimate of the renovation costs, they also saved the lives of my entire family. They discovered that a mold problem in the basement was worse than it appeared. There were lethal levels of toxic mold spores throughout the entire structure, not just a simple basement fix as the listing agent indicated. Craig went above and beyond to help us get out of the contract. We wanted a large chain linked fence area for a chicken run…read more And as I mentioned to Joe of the problems we needed to solve, he said he could build us a little wood retaining wall, would weld a chain link fence over the top too, and build tunnel from the run into the gated area. Struck me as an eager problem solver. He really did a good job of it over all. The wooden retaining wall wasn't perfect though, like they didn't put a gravel bed down first which AFAIK is usually done. And oddly the sides were built with the angle of the hill slope vs building the side level with the back as it probably should have been (level with the back, then level up to front tapper of a downward slope). Although it added some wacky charm to it which fits our custom chicken coup anyhow. The whole chain linked fence with welded top (of crossmembers and chain link) is great, the tunnel was way better than expected (very study and solid). But I'll take one point off for: A) I wish Joe was a more communicative over the build period, and B) He charged almost double the VA legal max for the deposit. Overall he did good by us and happy we chose Joe to do this work.
