You will not find a better experience! Have used this place for a large wedding party and also a funeral. I recently had a suit for my wedding and unfortunately DanDan was not the best place. While looking for a suit he quickly called me back so I went with his option. However there were a few red flag. Dan does not Rent but instead of telling you that he simply says "You dont want to rent". So my Groomsman were confused. From there I made the mistake to continue on with Dan. All of the Groomsman were told to get measured. We all went to the local Mens Wearhouse which some of us were afterwards blamed for going to them and others were not. Regardless I had to travel to their store several times going back and forth. Delivering money, trying to get clothes that fit and overall Dan never took out the measuring stick to do what we paid him for. To be a tailor. This lead to even further issues such as many of my guys suits did not fit correctly, undershirts were never measured so none of the neck buttons closed or they were simply too long, prices were paid for things such as belts and shoes which he does not supply and other places would. Even someone such as myself who visited more than 7 times had a suit that was not idea. I don't think Dan is a bad guy. You can just tell this is a business to get customers in for as much money as possible without care for what they need. Again I would recommend not to go here. I wish their family business the best but for something like a wedding it is not your best bet. read more

DON'T COME HERE!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR YOUR WEDDING. Go to Men's Warehouse or order/rent suits or tux online at theblacktux.com. Way better! Dan SCAMMED us. Came here last summer for our wedding. Didn't get an invoice of what we paid for ahead of time. Should have just left after knowing we wouldn't get a break down of what we were paying for. Lesson learned! We paid for suit (jacket and pants), shirt, tie and vest in ADVANCE. Each would be $200 each. He later said that the shirt and vest was extra!! He messed up on 3 of the guy's pants and jackets. Barely would fix them. Had to go to Men's Warehouse to get a bigger size for my husband's Dad cuz Dan all the sudden said it would be extra $500 more for bigger size. UH NO. He wouldn't refund anything to us after he messed everything up. His shop was so unorganized and messy too! Papers everywhere, I was afraid he was going to lose our info. He wrote everything on a piece of notebook paper. So unprofessional and little rude if you didn't like something. He would argue with us and others. World class service, even after I moved out of town. They know my size and tailor perfectly my suits and shirts and shop them to me quickly. The styles are solid, the quality is on point and the personal care/ follow up is unheard of. Dan is genuine, he cares and wants to ensure you look good and will give great advice on what does or doesn't look right. You can see the passion they have on wanting you to leave happy and beyond satisfied with your purchase. Highly recommend. I had a really bad experience with Dan and would never go back. I came in and dropped off several shirts to be tailored. I'm a skinny guy, so the necks of the shirts fit well, and the sleeves were long enough, but the body of the shirts were too big. I wanted to have the the sleeves and sides tailored and made more fitted. I must have caught him in a bad mood, because he acted as though my arrival in his shop annoyed him. While having me try on my shirts so he could measure the alterations and pin them, he took a phone call on a Bluetooth headset and proceeded to yell at whoever was on the other end of the line in a foreign language with no apparent concern that he was also standing within a foot of my face while doing so. He also criticized my choice of dress shirts, which was tacky. I left the shirts with him for over a week, longer than he requested to do the work. I called and checked if they were done, he said yes. When I arrived, he had to rush around the store to find them, and they were sitting, unfinished, on a pile in the back of his shop next to his seamstress. In full view of me from the front of the shop, he then yelled at the seamstress, bumped her off of her machine, and proceeded to just zip the sides of the shirts through the sewing machine. It's kind of hard to describe what he did, but rather than properly altering the seams to make a nicely finished result, he basically just ran a single stitch up the sides of the shirt, leaving a big flap of fabric on the inside. He also didn't touch the sleeves, making the sides of the shirts fitted, but with ridiculous-looking, disproportionately poofy sleeves. His half-assed work ruined a couple of hundred bucks of dress shirts in the process. read more

Mine is apparently the second "groupon" horror story about Dan's on yelp. Dan's is literally down the street from my house and I would gladly support this local business if my first foray here wasn't one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. My father in law bought a groupon for me for christmas about a year ago for a "custom Italian shirt and tie combo." I brought the groupon in about a week before it's expiration date expecting a proper tailor where customer service is king. wrong. I walked in, groupon in hand, and before I could say hello dan bursts out saying "oh my god, another groupon. i've lost my ass on these." he proceeded to tell me how bad his experience was, how much money he had lost, and why he didn't want to honor them anymore. this should have been my cue to walk out the door. alas, I stayed and was quickly measured only to find out dan didn't have the size in stock (16.5 32/33 isn't exactly uncommon!). he threw a notebook on the counter, scribbled down the size, my name, and phone number, and said "i'll call you." i never heard back from dan "the tailor man." honestly, i wouldn't wear the shirt and tie if he had called. "custom italian shirt and tie combo" should have read "cheap imported italian shirt suitable for wear at Touche' (read the yelp review) with ugly 1980s tie conveniently coupled together in a BOX." i've seen better combinations at walmart. stay away from this place. you are better off finding a suit at goodwill. read more

I can't begin to tell you what a complete sham this guy is. Disorganized, chaotic, rude, and to top it off, a terrible tailor - which is his one job! I'm not sure he even does the tailoring. I'm convinced Stevie Wonder could have sewn a straighter hem. And Ray Charles taking the measurements. To start, I took my son in to get a suit altered. In a what was initially perceived as a playful, jovial way to say 'this suit won't look good...let me sell you one of my suits' it turned into more of a berating of why I would waste my money in the first place going to Men's Wearhouse or Macy's. Why I would buy a Ted Baker sport coat or shop anywhere else but his shop. He convinced me that to take in the suit I brought in was going to be way too expensive and besides "the color washed out my son". So, for $615 he sold me two custom tailored suits and two custom tailored shirts. Threw in a couple of ties and a pocket square. Said my son would look like a million bucks. Promised to have them done in a week. A week goes by, doesn't have them back yet. I told him I really needed the shirts and the suits could follow. He assured me I would have them in a few days. A few days go by, I have to call and he says he will have them later in the afternoon. I take my son in to get them and they are not slim fit shirts, they are regular cut shirts. The quality was so inferior, the tailoring job was terrible. Different color thread, different stitching from sleeve to sleeve. He even had the original tag from the shirt removed. Why? Good question. The arms were sewn incorrectly that my son looked like a pirate. He promised to fix it and to come back in the morning. Mind you, the event my son needed this for was in the morning. We show up, the place was pure pandemonium. There's a guy getting ready to go to a wedding, his suit didn't fit. People were scrambling to help him. There's a contractor in there with a skill saw cutting boards to put up shelves. FedEx guy with 5 huge boxes that were COD waiting for his money. Another guy tying up the only fitting room for an emergency fitting. Dan is nowhere to be found. Assuming the second time around, he got it right, I took the shirts and the suits that were now ready and went home. My son tried them on at home and it was laughable how they were sewn. He tried on one of the suit jackets and the sleeves were not of the same length. One was at least ¼" shorter than the other on the sleeves. The pant cuffs were rolled under with about 6" of extra material tacked up. The waist in the pants were still about 1" too big. This guy missed on every measurement. Custom tailored suits? This guy had one job and he failed miserably. I had to run to Men's Wearhouse to get shirts for my son's event. I went back to Dan's and returned all of the items. They were useless. Demanded my $615 back. He said he hadn't charged me for the shirts anyway. I told him he was mistaken and he in fact charged me and I was going to get a refund for everything. He promised me I would have custom tailored product in time, what I had was worthless. He got very confrontational with me when I questioned his quality and told me that ¼" variance from sleeve to sleeve was within his acceptable tolerance. Seriously? Did he just tell me that to my face? I told him that was probably the worst thing he ever could have said and the fact that he believes that was an acceptable measurement tells me this guy really doesn't care. He provided inferior quality product and elementary school level tailoring and he treats his customers like they owe him something for even coming in. He has zero diplomacy skills and is an all around slob, judging from the way the place looks and how he keeps records. I wish I would have seen these reviews before I committed to him making the suits. Initially, I felt good. He was a straight shooter, seemed to know what he was talking about. But, anyone can BS anyone. And that's exactly what this guy has made a career doing. I would run as far away from this guy as you can. Dropped off a pair of new jeans to get them hemmed the right length. I was supposed to pick them up on a Tuesday evening, but I couldn't make it and went in Wednesday instead. They weren't ready and I had to wait while someone finished them. When I received the pants, the hem was not even nor consistent around the pant leg. In some parts the hem is thicker than others. In general it looks like it was very poorly done, and when you look at it, it looks like it was done by an amateur. When I confronted them about this they kept telling me that it was too thick or stiff to go through their machine properly. So their solution was to force it through even though it looks terrible? They didn't even offer to fix it. Absolutely terrible pant hem. Even worse customer service. read more

I have purchased several suits from Dan. All the suits are higher quality than anything I would have been able to get from any of the retail chain stores in that area. And the prices beat those same competitors as well. I work in an industry where we are expect to look professional all day every day. I have sent several friends/coworkers to Dan and they all have also had a the great experiences I have had. His selection is great. The suits are high quality. I have some beautiful Italian suits that that again, the local retailers could not touch on quality. I plan to buy another half dozen suits this year and they will all be from Dan. read more

This guy is awful. First he tells me that I overspent on my suit and that it fits poorly. He starts preaching to my family about how bad of a decision I made. None of what he said was true. I needed the arms to be let out and sides taken in. The shoulders fit well. I tell him that it is really important that it fits well as my wedding is in a week. He says he'll take care of me. The next week I pick it up and the sleeves weren't even touched. There wasn't time for further alterations and I end up with short sleeves. Then he acts like it's not his fault. My advice is to stay as far away from this store as possible, that is unless you want to invest in a suit (s) which will be tailored so poorly, other tailors in the area are speculative as to whether or not they can even fix Dan's work. Most recently, I bought two suits from Dan. I waited about a month for them to arrive which was frustrating to say the least. When i went it for measurement, it took all of about 10 seconds. He did not even mark the second suit. When i asked him why, he replied to me as if i was stupid..."Because I don't need to". After two weeks, I was finally able to pick up the suits and think they were tailored but still not sure. the sleeves on one suit are almost right but the hem is crooked. The pants are way to big, and the hem is so crooked is looks like a 2 y/o sewed it together. Both sets of pants will not even hang on a hanger straight. The black jacket was never tailored and there is about a 7 inch gap between the top button and my abdomen...too big. I honestly think both suits are beyond repair. Sadly, I feel as if I just flushed $700 down the drain. I can honestly say Jos A Bank does a better job at tailoring than Dan. What a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I believe this business is only surviving on a successful past. After calling 3 other tailors, I finally found one who is at least willing to look at a suit that Dan has tailored and even he is speculative that he will be able to fix that 'mess" as he referred to it. Another tailor immediately said"Oh Lord no" we cannot fix his tailoring. At this point, both suits are unwearable. DO NOT USE THEM!!! I called when they opened and asked if they could take a few inches off a pair of pants. They said yes they could. I told them I was leaving for Canada the next morning and it had to be today and they guaranteed that it would happen. I took them in at 11 o'clock and they said to come back after 4 p.m. I sent my assistant in just aftet 4 and they could not find them anywhere and said the girl that took my order went home sick and didn't tell anyone. All they did was cussed at him and said it wasn't their fault. So I went up there and all they were saying was "relax relax it's just pants it's just pants". It's not just pants when that is your only suit and you were going out of the country the next day. They will not be in business long acting like this. He has been back multiple times since for free alterations, new pants, and new suits. My husband has lost a little weight since our wedding, enough for new suits. I will never forget the most horrible experience I have ever had with customer service from Dan. I wanted to surprise my husband and have his 100% cashmere coat re-lined and Dan (very insultingly) said "That is not cashmere". After reading the other three reviews of this place I felt that I had to write something. My experience with Dan was everything I wanted in a tailor. It was fast, inexpensive, and very friendly. A few weeks ago I went (for the first time mind you) in at the same time another group( looking to get suits for a wedding I think) was there, and we were all bantering back and forth while they measured me up in a matter of minutes. Dan is hilarious. If he comes off as rude or brash I'd say lighten up. The place IS laid back and fairly small, so if you are looking for a tailor with no sense of humor or personality then look elsewhere. I had five shirts to get tailored, and they had them all done, to PERFECTION, less than two days later. Including measurements, time shooting the breeze, and picking up the shirts, I was in and out in maybe 15-20 minutes. The longest part of my wait was when Dan asked me to help him fix his internet. As for being "overpriced", I didn't get a suit or anything so I'm not sure, but 12 bucks for shirt alterations is cheaper then anywhere else I've seen, and to get them back in two days (before the weekend) was fantastic. I will definitely be going back for any other tailoring I need. read more

Dan is an absolute artist with creating a suit that fits you perfectly. If you are looking for something quick, Dan's might not be the place to go. I am a tall man, with broad shoulders and tried other stores that sold more expensive, ill-fitted suits, then I would need to get it tailored. Dan made my new suit and it fits wonderfully. If you want a personally tailored, quality Italian suit, at an awesome price, Dan is the man to see. I will definitely go back in the future. read more

My good friend recommended this place because apparently, he has a good reputation in Overland Park, so I drove 30 minutes to see what my friend was talking about. I guess Dan is busy enough not to need new business. I have seen many shops like this around the world, and I have to say that this is THE WORST establishment for tailoring and clothing, not because of the product, but because of the really really bad service. Nobody really tends to one client at a time, and the shop really is disorganized. When Dan or someone else takes measurements, they usually are not accurate, or just assume you are a certain size. They had to redo a few articles I had altered and they were not only overpriced, but they had to redo some things, and almost lost a whole suit, which was "not on the ticket"... did I mention them being disorganized? Best to come in after lunch, because everyone is cranky when they're hungry and sometimes just rudely ignores you. read more

I am super happy with my experience with Dan Dan the Tailor Man! I went to 2 places before this, who both got my size wrong on all accounts. I'm 6'3 46L with 34 W. The suit came in and fit my shoulders perfect. It was huge around my torso, and as she was pinning it for adjustments saying it was gonna be hard to get it small enough around my mid section. I came back 24 hours later, and this suit fits better than any other piece of clothing that isn't spandex and stretchy. To top it off, the dress shirt I got with it fit just as well straight out of the box. He ironed it on the spot and I was gone in 5 minutes. I could not be happier! He came recommended by my Dad. Both of Dan's assistants for lack of a better word, have 20 years experience each. To top it off, all 3 are very nice and normal people. Nothing fake about them, and you have to respect that! This place is gross, but more importantly, I purchased a women's tailored suit at a charity event and never even got it!!! When I first went in I was told that the owner was having health problems. Fair enough. But the lady assured me she would pass along my info when he returned. After months of hearing nothing I went back into the store. Owner was back, great! But he shoved the cheapest, tackiest suit catalog in front of me. Not wanting to offend him I chose one. And he never even called back with the order!!! He's dishonest. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I ordered a custom fitted suit on July 23rd, which he promised would fit like no other suit I own. He wasn't lying. He said he would have it ready in a week. I should have know it would go bad when he took NO measurements. NONE! After a little over a week, I called him. He said the order seemed to have disappeared. He then stalled and said he remembered me and it would take another week. I was to wear this for an event on August 9. He said, don't worry you will have it in plenty of time. He called me on August 5th at 12:06, while I was at work. By the time I got off, he was closed. I worked Saturday and he is closed Sunday. I went Monday early, He again, didn't take ANY measurements. He grabbed the pants and said, "That feel OK?" He folded my pant legs, marked them and I was on my way. He asked I come back after 5 pm and it would be ready. I showed at 5:40. The suit fit like one that you rent when they don't want to actually cut the material. The arms were too short, the legs on the pants were too long and the jacket was big. I told him I thought that he had ordered a size too big. He said I didn't know anything about suits. He said had been in business for 40 years and this was the first time anyone had complained (not true, look at the reviews) and he was stumped. He said he didn't know what I wanted. He said this as he was raising his voice, with another customer in the store. He kept telling the customer that the suit was perfect (as if he was paying for it and not I) and that I had no clue what I was talking about. He said there he had fitted over 2,000 suits and I he knew what was best. I told him I would bring him one of my other suits for him to measure. The arm inseam fit AWFUL!! He said that was normal. I couldn't put my arms in front without the whole suit moving. I left as he was complaining that he was late to his appointment, even though according to his store hours, he wasn't closed yet. I told him I didn't meant to upset him, but the suit simply did not fit. He said I could pick up the suit on August 9th (Day of my event) and he would have it done. Would you have been pleased? I left the store and proceeded to watch him through the store window complain to the other customer about me. He was mad. I decided to call him and inform him that what he did was rude. I told him I wouldn't be coming back and he had lost a customer. Hopefully he will think about offending customers and their tastes to their face and to other customers. He has a big ego and acts like he doesn't need your business. He may not, as he kept bragging about his yellow corvette and how he just got the wheels painted to match. I told him that just like his yellow corvette, not everyone has the same tastes. I was paying for a suit that fit my needs, not his or his other customers. He tries to talk over you. That's part of the problem. He doesn't listen to his customers. He is good at telling you how much of an expert he is and how your tastes in suits is awful. What a way to sell. I encourage you to look elsewhere for a suit, unless you want to be talked down to, offended and want a suit that looks like you rented it. He may have 40 years of experience, but his work is not good and his customer service is almost non-existent. read more

This guy is a hack!!!! Bought three suits from him and had to wait 3 months for them to arrive. When they finally did arrive one was not tailored correctly and the second fell apart at the waist within two weeks. When I called to complain he said he would send me a fourth suit, which he did. When it arrived it to did not fit, when I attempted to get my money back he refused and indicated that there are no returns on altered suits. There is no sign that says that and it is not written on his receipt. I found Dan to be rude, arrogant and not friendly at all. His tailors in the back of the shop are even worse than Dan. I have been a customer of Dan Dan's for over 20 years. And while there have been times where it took a while to get my suits or had to have something re-done because too long or some other reason, he usually made good after a while. But, can't take it any more. The more i think about it, I wonder how I continued to buy suits from him. This last time, I ordered a suit and a sports coat. After he left, I realized that I didn't give him my charge card to pay and just thought that I would catch up with him when the suits were delivered. But to my surprise, my AMEX was charged for the suits. He is storing credit card numbers from past sales. I let it go and waited for my suits like I have several times in the past. After 3 weeks, I called him to see where my suits were. He said he had them and would bring them over later that day. Didn't hear from him or see him. Two weeks later, I called him again because the event that I wanted the suits for to begin with was coming up in a couple of days. He came by and asked which suits did I order again????? I showed him and reminded him that the meetings I needed the suit and coat for was in two days. He said no problem, he would get them to me the next day. Guess what? You guessed it, he never showed up, never called. I disputed the payment on my AMEX. And, I still haven't heard from him. Not even to ask why I disputed the charge on my credit card. Like I said, I have been a customer of his for over 20 years and he has made hundreds of thousands of dollars from selling suits to others in the company I work for. And this is how he treats good customers. How will he treat you? My advice is to stay away. read more
