Ooh, I wanted to try all of the flavors, but I limited myself to just two (vanilla and turmeric and the coconut seeds one).

So after meeting her local in person (and following her story for years before) I started going to whole foods again! This time in Reston location was to pick up more Unami sauce and some burts bee lip blam (cold season). While there, they have amazing fresh meals prepared and it allowed me and my lil to each choose our own meal for the day something we'd both love. I tried the spicy salmon on top of rice with side of veggies. The lil... well choose a pizza slice... then proceeded to eat half my rice and complain my salmon was too spicy lol. Memories to remember :) Will be back!

This meant that we…read morecould now walk there, so we wouldn't have to deal with the horrible parking situation at Plaza America. Like others who have also reviewed the new one, I, too, envisioned it would be like the ones in Fair Lakes and Ashburn. But, alas, no :( Still, it is far better than the old location. While this one doesn't offer any seating areas where one can order food, it is more spacious. Thus, their produce section is larger than the meat and seafood sections. Although they brag about having a huge cheese selection, it's about the same size as it was before. The problem regarding the size of the place is most likely because Reston doesn't have a spot for a huge store. Unless they were to find a plot of land in a good location, then build a free-standing one. That would be pricey! We think the aisle signs could be better labeled. For example, we wanted to get some tofu, but despite wandering around, I couldn't find it. Finally, I saw an employee and asked him. He directed me to a refrigerated case that was near the bakery and sushi counter. Otherwise, we found everything we wanted to get. So, yes, we will return...but not to do all our shopping there. They don't call it "Whole Paycheck" for nothing.

Every culture has their own interpretation of taking the basic ingredients of flour, yeast, salt and water and transforming it via various baking methods into their version of "bread." There is a long history of using circular oval shaped ovens in Asia and the Middle East as a way of both conserving space and to efficiently cook foods with even heat distribution and small footprints in otherwise cramped kitchens. In India these ovens are called tandoors while in Japan they are referenced as kamados. Sauson International Grocery has been in operation since 2011, and the owner, who everyone knows as "Mr. Rashid," is of Persian descent having emigrated from Iran. He is always super friendly and willing to answer questions I may have about the wide variety of Middle Eastern spices and foods this place stocks. Don't be surprised if you strike up a conversation with him, and he offers you a cup of wonderfully spiced tea and a cookie or pastry from the delectable dessert case. As some of the reviews have noted, parking is tricky. There is a small covered garage under the building. But you may have to park at the nearby church or on the street and then walk over to the store. This place is well known for their bread, which is being made throughout the day. I came a bit later today, so they had just finished making a few batches. But it's not uncommon to witness skilled bakers kneading and rolling, and then slapping the dough onto the circular metallic oven for a few minutes, before piping hot fresh bread emerges. The bread is amazing. It is pliable, without being overly chewy. It is slightly salty, with a great smoky almost charred flavor. I've had it cut into pieces and then dipped with hummus or rolled into gyros or used to sandwich kabob meat. And believe it or not, it's even pretty good as a PB&J. Everyone, and I mean everyone, I've introduced this product to usually asks: (1). What type of bread is this? and (2). Where can I buy it? Note: As of this review, the current price is $8.05 for FOUR large round pieces of bread. Apart from the bread, there is also a small butcher shop in the back, and a kitchen where hot foods like kabob platters are made. There is also a small seating area in front of the store, where folks can sip tea and relax while enjoying sweets from the display case. Sauson is a really cool place and while I usually go with the intention of only buying bread, it's not uncommon for me to walk out with a few bags of unique Middle Eastern groceries.

Impressive variety of selection and wonderful hospitality. Can't wait to go back soon.read more

This was number one on the list when I searched best restaurants in Reston and it did not disappoint! Heirloom is tucked away in the distillery and has a cozy speakeasy feel with green velvet booths and an eclectic seafood forward menu. Cocktails : Manhattan - top notch My sweet side piece - fun presentation with table side bubbles! Feels a bit like a fall drink. Warm spice. Very tasty and too easy to drink fast lol Apps: We got the baked shrimp and the beef carpaccio. Both outstanding and so flavorful. Just needed some bread to soak up the sauce in the baked shrimp. The lemon rind in the shrimp was a perfect compliment to the sauce and the carpaccio was perfectly seasoned and the thinnest slices I have ever had which made it delicate and delicious. Entrees: We got the sea bass and the short rib bolognese. Blown away by how good both of these were and so very different. The short rib bolognese had a rich but not heavy flavor with fresh pasta and a delightful velvety spiciness - not heat though. The sea bass was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked with a carrot ginger puree that was sublime with the spinach and fish. We loved both of these entrees. Really wanted dessert but sadly not more room which was better for our stomachs and our wallets. It's not a cheap endeavor here but worth the cost for a fabulous meal out and a very cool vibe.
