This is good southern style bbq without a doubt. I'm not sure I've had better when I lived in the south for 22 years. The ribs are good and fall off the bone when you try to bite them, but even with how good they are they're not the feature here. The feature is that smoked brisket. Whatever they're doing to cook it is absolutely perfect. You could almost cut it with a fork, the rub is delicious, the meat is just fatty enough to give it that wonderful flavor, and I haven't even mentioned the sauce yet. Their sauce is perfect in my opinion. It's on the sweeter side for bbq and is right on the money for thickness. If you want a little kick, sorry this doesn't have it. The mac and cheese was honestly amazing with a little bit of pepper in there. The coleslaw was very good. It's a bit different than your typical coleslaw but I think it might be better. It's more similar to Mississippi comeback sauce. As for the restaurant itself, this place does more takeout but it has a few tables. The people are nice when you order at the counter and it's pretty quick for bbq. I haven't even gotten to the price yet. The brisket with Texas toast and two sides would have been about $20 and add in the ribs it's $32. It's exactly what I was looking for. Now they did have a bit of a problem and had run out of chicken, cornbread, baked beans, and potato salad when I went, but all the important things were still in stock, and it was just so good I can't knock them for it. First time here: the seating area is kinda small but there is also outside seating. THE CORNBREAD IS A CAKE! AND ITS NOT A LIE! huge chunk of corn bread is tasty. Mac and cheese gets an A+ too hot to eat but too good to not eat the cheesy meaty lava. Ribs were good, all the meat just fell off the bone and had a nice smoky flavor that didn't overpower the taste of the meat, a touch on the dry side but not enough to complain about. This was my third visit to Danny's. I visit once a year when in the area for work. I have my co workers addicted and the food has stayed consistently excellent. Surprisingly the peppers were almost as good as the brisket. Highly recommend. read more

This was our second visit to Danny's, and I am sincerely sorry to write that we didn't enjoy it as much as our first visit. Our son was with us this time, and you know there may be an issue with the food when he says that the Zucchini And Peppers were the star of the show on his plate. He had also ordered the 1/2 lb. baby back ribs, and the coleslaw. I ordered the ribs, baked beans, and potato salad. My son and I found an off-putting flavor in the ribs. The quality and cook of the meat was fine, there was just a natural flavor to the meat we didn't care for. It may have been from the diet the pigs that the ribs were processed from were fed. May be it was also because, to me, the meat was underseasoned, and I didn't get much flavor from the smoke. To me, the baked beans, which had generous amounts of pulled pork meat, and the potato salad also lacked flavor. The beans were more like a bean soup than baked. I prefer baked beans to be served "dry", not in a broth. The potato salad was good, but it was just lacking. My son said there wasn't much flavor in the coleslaw either. But for him the zucchini and peppers were "amazing". And he also said he really liked the BBQ sauce that was drizzled on the ribs. My wife ordered The Brick, She said the brisket was very good but, again, she couldn't really taste the mac and cheese since it was overpowered by the brisket. She added that when she had the mac and cheese last year she liked it. She allowed me a few samples of the brisket meat. THERE were the flavors I had been looking for! Nicely seasoned and a very nice smoky flavor. It was true Texas-style brisket. Danny's has their smoker out front, and the the smoky smells should promise the flavors you're about to enjoy. Unfortunately, only the brisket fulfilled that promise. My wife and I think that the recipes for the sides need to be enhanced to provide more flavor. My son and I think the ribs, which are undoubtedly popular there, need more flavor as well. read more

Let's be honest, when it comes to the Kitsap area, with exception of a handful of restaurants the food over here is absolute crap. Locals will tell you to try this and that and it's awful. I'm convinced there's like some inherent crappy taste in food. So, this review is for you non-Washingtonians lining in the area. I moved here a year and a half ago and we gave up on eating out. It's all crap. Half the breakfast places want to dump hollandaise over your food and call it upscale gourmet. ANYWAY, Danny's was a lifesaver when we found it. I scrolled through some reviews, one guy giving it a one star saying "I know bbq. This isn't bbq." Couldn't be further from the truth. I'm Kansan born and raised. Grew up on Kansas, Missouri, OK and TX BBQ. My dad was always smoking brisket and ribs during the summer and bbq was a bit of a passion in the Midwest. One thing that good bbq will tell you off the bat, if it's drowning in sauce, it's crap. Danny comes dry but their sauces are amazing. They do it right with a small menu and their baked beans are true campfire bbq beans (sorry to the sh*t people complaining, expecting Bush's baked beans..? Seriously just crap taste in food with these people). If you want good bbq on this side of the water, Danny's is it and it's worth it. We go at least once a month. If you want other options, don't ask a local. I think the lack of vitamin d has killed their taste buds or something. read more

Really solid BBQ. Had the brisket plate twice now, and both times it's been really good. I'm a little bit of a BBQ snob - this is just slightly below top tier brisket. Brisket is a little on the firm side, but still very tender. Bark was a little crisp and really flavorful. Beautiful smoke ring all around. Really close to being top notch. But still probably the best I've had in Washington. Sides are pretty standard fare: mac and cheese is decent, as was the coleslaw. Potato salad was missing something. I had dinner as carry out, first time eating here. The BBQ food was okay I had the Baby Back Ribs 3 bones for $15.00 most places I've eaten at would have been 5 bones, really good flavor. A note on the BBQ sauce, It was good; however there was only one choice and the container was very small. It contained about two tablespoons. The sides were absolutely horrible, the beans were not baked they were dumped from the can without draining them into a pan heated and chili powder was added. Just watery nastiness. I stupidly posted another complaint on Facebook about the lack of good BBQ in Washington state and was promptly deluged with recs for this place, apparently the current Flavor of The Month. We happened to be driving by and hungry the next weekend. I'm from North Carolina and have spent a LOT of time in Texas and other Southern BBQ hot spots, so I am admittedly picky about it. This, sadly, was just one more barely-adequate simulation of what "BBQ" means in places where it has a tradition, something it has NONE of in WA state. The meat was bland, soggy, grey, and seriously under-smoked. It was either not smoked long enough or the pork shoulders were not broken down enough to get the smoke into the body of the meat. Whatever, it was a leaden, sodden pile of "Meh" that saturated the bun almost instantly and finally had to be eaten out of its wrapper with a fork. The sides were acceptable but, coupled with the almost radioactive 'Tude emanating from the smarmy counter staff, did not add up to enough reason to ever stop there again. Hey, if Washingtonians find this sort of BBQ acceptable, good on 'em. I don't. Compared to 99% of what I ate in Texas and NC and Kansas City and Savannah and Memphis and Knoxville, this stuff is barely even the same food. read more

While customers are likely to experience issues at some point, it's the way the business responds that ultimately creates 'raving fans.' Bottom line: the bbq is amazing and the owners deeply care about their customers! So hard to give a place with such great bbq 3 stars, but THE SERVICE SUCKS! Both times I chose to eat here it felt like an assault when ordering. What do you want? When responding I'm interrupted before finishing. Leading to the young woman repeating back the incorrect order and almost demanding which sides. My eyes likely signal how aggressive and rude the interaction is. Same occurrence when confirming which sides. Bottom line, food is awesome...but after 2 back-to-back experiences where as a customer you feel like you're even lucky to eat there. Good BBQ but expensive. The pork ribs were meaty, cooked perfectly with a nice bark and a savory sauce. My only complaint was that they were over seasoned in some spots, one section I bit into was like chewing on a salt lick that had been dipped in ghost pepper extract. The sides were ok but the sizing was a problem. The small size was 8oz. and large size was 32oz. Why not offer a 16oz? We got 2 small containers each of- beans, coleslaw and mac & cheese. I am traveling through and lived my life in the south, so I thought I'd try the TX BBQ. The lady that helped me was nice and recommended to call ahead to make sure they don't sell out of what you want. There's a few tables on the inside and outside. The food wasn't my taste. I got the ribs, smoked Mac n cheese and cornbread. I think the flavor would have been good, but the pepper was overwhelming. Maybe it's a regional thing? The ribs were fine and the Mac n cheese would have likely been good if not for all the pepper. The cornbread reminded me of what I expected: a solid recipe for sweet cornbread. read more

Really very good local place. The ribs were absolutely delectable and worth the 20 minute wait when they had run out. The brisket was good-- really good but not as good as the ribs! I did not care for the beans, however which were probably good if you like that style. They were watery, cumin flavored and not at all sweet or hot spicy. The portions were decent , though inconsistent. My friend got a lot more meaty ribs while my husband not so much. I placed a to go order over the phone. My friend volunteered to pick it up, this is after the 40 min wait that they told us it would be. He went to pick it up and was told that they did not have the order at all. So he replaced our order and it took over one hour. I even called him to see if he was running extra errands. He was not happy and neither was I after waiting for so long. When the food got home, there was juice all over the bag. My friend usually eats really well and he didn't even finish his halfway. I read that this place was the best BBQ in Kitsap county. I guess standards aren't so high around this area. My meat did not fall off the bone. The baked beans were overly sweet almost like candy.
