I've been a beef jerky connoisseur since I was like 5 years old (haha!), so I know GOOD jerky when I encounter it. The jerky here is overall AMAZING! In fact the array of jerky here and its taste probably rivals the jerky found at Baker's Alien Fresh Jerky in California. My go to jerky here at Daniel's are all the intentionally hot ones! - the Habanero Mango, the Carolina Reaper, and the XXX HOT. Out of the three, the XXX HOT is my absolute go to! It is hotter than anything I've ever tried and remains the King of Heat! This flavor of hot was formerly known as the Colon Cleanser about 4 - 5 years back. I like this one mainly for the taste... however, the taste behind the heat coupled with the hot-kick is addictive! Not to mention, the therapeutic properties of this jerky is medicinal. :D For you to figure out what flavors to pick up, you are offered samples to help you out. The staff here are all friendly and helpful. Please note that the jerky does taste a whole lot better out of a freshly opened bag. For example, the XXX HOT kicks harder out of a freshly opened bag than a sample. Moreover the establishment is clean, and well kept. Even more, there are a lot of other things to choose from here besides jerky. Other meat base jerkies are found here. Novelty-like sodas, candies, hot sauces and even Chocolate Rocks (which are AMAZING!) are found here too. There is something for everyone here to enjoy. I recommend this business, especially for those who love jerky. The price for bags have gone up and don't look like much in a vacuumed package, but the taste and quality IS THERE... I came in for some jerky... and walked out five minutes later. They only sell beef jerky in 3.5-ounce bags--for $11 a bag. That's right: one tiny bag, one measly piece of jerky, and a price that makes you wonder if it's sprinkled with actual unicorn dust. I get it--prices are up thanks to inflation--but this is ridiculous. At that rate, you're basically paying for air with a side of chew. After inspecting a few flavors and seeing the laughably small portions, I couldn't justify spending a dime here. Ironically, I went across the street to Terrible's for gas and found their jerky counter (Mahogany smoked meats). A full pound for $43 later, I walked out much happier--and much fuller. Moral of the story: unless you want to pay a fortune for one sad little snack, skip this place. Other than the jerky disappointment, the location has some positives. The customer restrooms are convenient, the showroom is clean, and the parking lot is easily accessible with electric vehicle chargers--a thoughtful touch for anyone stopping by. read more

Really cute, fun pit stop to pick up snacks for the drive back from Phoenix to Los Angeles! The young lady working the whole store was so friendly, patient and knowledgeable. Stopped by this shop driving back to California. They were super friendly and had the yummiest beef jerky's and pickled goodies. Lots of spices with funny names and labels. Staff were super nice and would provide samples for jerky's. I should have read the reviews before i gave this store my business I bought some Ghost Pepper chili powder on October 24th and didn't check the date of expiration which was 09/15/2023!!! When we called the store to let them know to check the dates, not only did they not apologize or offer a refund (which we did not ask for) They denied that they even sold the item at their stores. We will not be back nor recommend this store which obviously does not care about their customers by our experience and other reviews as well. read more

We stopped here on the way to CA. We love jerky and figured why not stop. There is plenty of parking, the lady working was super friendly and the bathrooms were clean! They offer lots of different types of jerky (tuna, chicken, turkey, and your game meats), and at 3 bags for $30 is a good deal. We got a chicken jerky and two different kinds of beef. The chicken jerky was not great, flavor was good but it was not a chewy jerky. The kippered beef was the best and was like steak bites. Great flavor and a good texture jerky wise. Store was impeccably clean and well organized the samples were great. The jerky that I actually bought were disappointing. It seems the jerky that was in a single layer was good but possible when the meats are stacked upon each other the vacuum sealing is not as efficient so there's a weird taste to that jerky it was a bit moist and off-tasting, I ended up tossing in the garbage. read more

Hello! I absolutely LOVE Daniels Really Good Fresh Jerky, BUT the delivery time is absurd. Im not kidding you, I ordered online, and quite literally forgot about it until 4-5 weeks later, when I received a "letter" from someone named Daniel. I was entirely confused until i opened the package which contained the jerky I ordered. I was absolutely dumbfounded though, considering that I basically considered my order to be a "field loss". The jerky took NO LESS than 4 weeks to deliver. This is absolutely absurd. I would rather DRIVE to arizona than wait that time again. Daniel's clearly has no sense of direction, motivation, or knowledge required to run a business with the online functionality. I would NEVER recommend this jerky to ANYONE, unless you're willing to wait 1-2 months for delivery. It' absolutely sickening how this company operates with 1-5 people (yes i've been to their stores in person in Arizona, where workers confirmed this). I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. The jerky is good, but not worth a 1-2 month wait, knowing that a 85yr old woman is doing most of the heavy lifting for Daniel (ask me how I know?). This place is absolutely disgusting. I came here and got some amazing jerky after Crystal Hill. This place reminds me of Alien Fresh Jerky out in Barstow except with fewer selections. I felt that the cowboy jerky here didn't really match up to Alien Fresh however their jerky is delicious! The jerky here does contain high fructose corn syrup (just an FYI for health nuts). I still remember those road trips during the 80s when my brother and I were stuffed in the back of the station wagon as well traversed from Northern California throughout the United States. I also remember some of the roadside stops along the way that sold gems, packaged candies, fruits, and souvenirs. When my brother pulled into Daniel's as a stop between Los Angeles and Phoenix, those memories came flooding back to me. Daniel's has quite the selection of candies, dry fruits, hot sauces and of course jerky. The very friendly lady behind the counter was offering samples and I politely declined as I don't eat meat. She chuckled and asked if I was offended. I told her absolutely not and I also told her that I wasn't bothered by some of the light hearted t-shirts and sayings. My brother continued to shop for jerky as I browsed the sauces when I came upon Dave's Gourmet Vegan Bolognese Pasta Sauce. If there's a vegan option in a non-vegan location, i can find it. It was superbly hilarious that a road stop jerky and sauce place has jars of Vegan Bolognese Ready for the twist in the story. I purchased my jar of Vegan Bolognese, thanked the cashier and ny brother and I continued ti drive to Phoenix. I was telling my sister-in-the-law the story the following day when I checked the expiration date. Much to my dismay, it said, 08-08-2022 I decided to call and let the team at Daniel's know that the other jars maybe expired too I spoke a friendly but very inquisitive woman who said that she would be in contact with the owners and let me know. It will one week from tomorrow that I was supposed to get a call back. While I like to have my eight dollars refunded, its more important that the expiration dates are checked on slow moving items. Stopped at this place on our way to Los Angeles from Arizona. We are always down to try new jerky place and this spot claims it's really good. There are a numerous amount of selections, but the best deal is going for three bags for $27. It is expensive, and that is the one knock I have on it, but it is so good. It's hard not to finish everything in one go. Also, the best part is that they have a testing station. You can test as many jerseys as you'd like to make sure that you are making the correct purchase. I also have a whole store with other Road trip snack options, and array of hot sauces, and some fun drinks. If you're looking for something cheap I'd recommend going to the gas station but if you're looking for something with a little bit more quality, that comes with a price, this is a great place to start. read more

I sent my fiancé an order on her way back from lake havasu. She returned with some nasty gas station jerky. One was even dusted in sugar... eww! She said your location was closed and you were moving to a larger store. I was disappointed I didn't get my jerky fix but now she's on my list finding out the new store has been open for months. This is a relationship killer. Do I give her a second chance or has that jerky dried out and needs to be sent out to pasture. Pretty awesome place. The nice old lady running it was very friendly and gave us samples. I got 3 packs of jerky and boy they were delicious. Didn't last long because they were too tasty. Love this place! Excellent tourist stop. They have all the jerky, bbq sauces, hot sauces, and candy you could want! Not to mention fun and unique sodas. The two women inside were very welcoming and nice! I got to try a fair few samples of the different jerkies. I never buy any because i could eat the whole bag in one sitting and it's a bit much to pay. But i did get some chamoy gummy bears, jerk sauce, bbq sauce, and chili lime popcorn. And 4 honey sticks. We started to see their billboard signs about 50 miles east of LA. Kind of like an I10 version of Wall Drug. So we had to stop. When we got to Exit 17, there it was. Gas too and lots of other stuff. We bought the three for $25 package and had maybe 15 to choose from. By the time we arrived in Mesa, we had done a great job on all three.
