My pour was 1670 square feet with 33 cubic yards 1697 that had a fair amount of complexity in terms of drainage and curbs and levels. The set up took 3 days including grading, forming and rebar with a crew of eight. I also added my neighbors smaller driveway that enlarged the project by 450 sq ft and took our pour up to 42 cu yds. On the pour day we had 14 finishers who did a quality job, and on the following day they returned to finish removing forms and did an excellent cleaning up removing all construction debris. This is a top quality second generation family company. I found the entire team to be easy to deal with, friendly, very professional and conscientious in their work. I now have them on my list of those i will choose to deal with in future. This is a top quality company that keeps its promises and works well with the customer. A+ in my book. They keep their promises.

Being a first time homeowner is not easy. From landing the house and finding things to improve over…read moretime, my wife and I knew the backyard would be a very important space for our family, especially our younger kids. When we first moved in, the backyard was all cement, the grass was dead, it had mulch/tanbark everywhere, and the pavers were mismatched. While we had a temporary "fix" by removing the grass and installing turf, we knew we needed to go big. I went through countless hours of research, hesitation, and uncertainty for whatever reason, but I finally settled on a name that, after extensive research, felt like they would be the right fit for us. Enter Black Diamond! Stephanie Driscoll was our project manager and designer and Raul was the head of the crew that took on the job of totally revamping the entire backyard and the side yards. Stephanie was very easy to work with and loved the design that was initially proposed. Instead of trying to essentially price the job with higher quality materials or trying to add more where it wasn't needed, we were able to balance paver amount/variation for the pathways and borders so that it made sense both in design and budget. Needless to say, 4 months on, we are still very happy with how it turned out and how everything was done. We started the consultation/design process and contracting in December 2025 and broke ground in March 2026. Stephanie was patient in waiting for other projects to be completed since I also had to replace a roof, install new gutters, and repaint the whole house. By April 2026, the entire backyard looked as designed and blew my family away! Our friend and family complimented on how well everything was done and what a transformation it was. We actually enjoy the backyard a lot more now and so do our children. The pavers have held up very well thus far and most of all, it's safe for anyone to walk on. No sharp edges on the step-down that was installed, no tripping hazards, and no danger of water sitting and pooling in any one area. The rocks along the pathways complement the pavers and do well to keep costs low in the side yard as no one really hangs out on the sides anyway. Extremely happy with Black Diamond, Stephanie, and Raul! Thank you so much; looking forward to getting the front yard and driveway tackled soon!

I live in Monterey and discovered Black Diamond because I really liked what they did with one of my…read moreneighbor's front area.  It pays to leave your sign out! Frances was my project manager and on the first visit I described my vision and let her know I wanted to do some of the work myself because I had a limited budget.  She was very accommodating about that and drew up plans based on what I wanted help with.  She actually did a few iterations as we talked through design and my changes after I saw the plans.  She helped with design and material suggestions but also drainage suggestions that helped me feel confident I wouldn't have problems down the line.  Black Diamond did all the hardscape of pavers and prepped and installed my lawn.  I did everything else in the pictures. I purchased all the plants, but Frances was helpful in giving me ideas about what grew best in my area which doesn't get a lot of sun.  They are a bit pricey but I was willing to pay more because they gave me the confidence that they would do the work correctly.  And Frances was amazing to work with! It came out beautiful!  Their workers were not very friendly and didn't speak much English but they knew their business and Frances visited often to oversee the work.   There were lots of little decisions to be made and Frances was patient with me as I took time to decide on some things.  They also put in piping so I could run more irrigation, if needed and electrical wiring.  They also ran pipe for my propane tank hose so it would be underground.  My only frustration is that they didn't put string through or something that would help pull the wiring or hose through more easily.  A simple thing that would have really helped.  Overall, I am very satisfied and would recommend them.  They are pricey and their contract is pretty one-sided, but because everything went well, that wasn't a problem. Apologies for the pictures in random order.  Just a side note--I also used Black Diamond for my rental in Southern California and the project manager did a great job there too.

Cantera was the most down-to-earth and realistic in terms of discussing what the job would entail AND the most reasonably priced. Others were mostly slick sales people who were big on presentation but light on actual knowledge. And they came with huge price tags. We chose to work with Isac from Cantera and are so happy we did. He was honest, reliable, and willing to go the extra mile to make sure the end result was what we expected. He didn't cut corners, and his entire crew was competent, hard-working and friendly. Isac was very responsive, always showed up as promised, and completed the job in a timely manner. Also a good problem solver! Couldn't be more satisfied!! Would recommend Cantera Masonry without reservation!

This was on behalf of our son's home in Hawaii. Mike responded to our inquiry with a return phone call within the hour. He came the next day to assess what we needed and explained a few options. We opted for the quickest fix that would enable us to safely use the carport right away for another 7 to 10 years before the day comes when a new one needs to be built. The house was built in 1945, and the carport may be that old. His bid was a very fair price. He was available to come the very next day and finished the project in one day. He repaired the ceiling and repaired the top of the roof/patio area with a new sealed top coat so it wouldn't leak through the cement any longer. Mike is a consummate professional. He telephoned us when he was on his way. He listened to our needs and advised accordingly with his expertise of the different options. He is personable, kind, and wow, what a hard worker! It was a long day in the heat. He worked in over 90 degree weather and never complained once, he was actually joyful doing the work he does. He is an expert mason and it shows. He knew exactly the materials needed and the best way to do the job. The job turned out great, it looks great on the patio and the patches on the underside of the ceiling are now safe and stronger than before. No more water slowly leaking through the old cement roof. Mike has great integrity, very professional and super nice, too! Don't hesitate to give him a call.
