Daniel and his team were amazing and can't recommend them enough! Daniel had great suggestions for our design. Initially I had used Yardzen and he was so much better than what they suggested. His team put in a paver patio, brickwork, new landscaping, drainage and irrigation. Daniel himself checked in often and quickly answered any questions and addressed any concerns or imperfections. He has continued to check in after installation and will replace anything that dies within the first 6 months. He was very clear about additional cost when I added a little more to the scope of the project and there were no surprises. It was all so unnecessary what DLS did and how they handled their very badly botched job. We are ecstatic with our current Landscape/hardscape Contractor. We are so pleased with our new landscaping! We were nervous as we were going to be out of town while the project was being done. Having worked with other landscape contractors in the past, we were concerned about delays & cost overruns & frankly, contractor/crew "no shows". What a pleasure it was to have our job completed exactly when Daniel (owner) said it would be and to show up to a completely remodeled yard. Daniel communicated with us every step up the way. He sent videos, photos and text messages to keep in contact with us and to document progress on our project but, most importantly, he took so much pride in his work. He did extra things like pressure wash our existing hardscape and clean up the weeds in the public sidewalk in front of our home that were above & beyond the scope of our work but made our yard looking beautiful. We showed up to a new, beautifully landscaped/hardscaped new yard! We keep getting compliments from people passing by on the sidewalk. He also has deep knowledge about plants and worked with us to completely realize our vision. The project included laying flagstone, a concrete pad, installing irrigation, a drain, a lighting transformer and then landscaping the front of the house. We are ecstatic with our new landscaping in the front and back yard and would highly recommend Daniel to anyone who has a landscaping need. He is honest, creative, detail oriented, a strong communicator, cost conscious and very responsive. Daniel had basically a blank slate to work with and was able to visualize an entire yard where nothing but sand and broken fence existed. He designed and installed a beautiful cottage wood fence in our front yard and reset our porch with gorgeous carmel stone. He designed our driveway,front gate and pathway and provided great suggestions for the plants and lighting. He did such a great job that the City inspector actually called us and complimented Daniel on the design and workmanship. When my wife and I moved to Carmel from the Bay Area, we bought a tired house in desperate need of a full makeover, including the yard. The yard had not been maintained for many years and basically consisted of weeds and overgrown plants, the eyesore of the neighborhood. He gave us a reasonable bid (especially compared to the Bay Area) and was able to work us in right away. Daniel and his crew were terrific - friendly, easy to work with, and agreeable to changes and additions. The result received rave reviews from the community. Because the backyard experience was so enjoyable, we enlisted Daniel to work on the front yard a few months later. Daniel was very unprofessional and unreliable. My first experience with him was for an initial look at my yard and to discuss what my landscaping needs were. He showed up over 1/2 hour late. After determining what I wanted and what he recommended, he was supposed to come back to take measurements. He also promised to drop off a sample of artificial grass and contact me with an initial estimate and sketches within 1.5 weeks. I waited one MONTH and I NEVER heard back from him! I e-mailed to remind him that I was waiting, STILL no response. SO unprofessional! I have not heard from him since that initial meeting. After I e-mailed him I was expecting an e-mail back explaining that he was too busy to take on the project or some other excuse or explanation, which would have been fine. But, to just completely ignore my attempt to contact him is unacceptable and incredibly unprofessional! I will NEVER use his services or recommend him! read more
