As a first-time homeowner, I felt completely overwhelmed and unsure where to begin, especially when it came to choosing the right contractor. After getting some neighborhood recommendations for New Leaf, we decided to reach out. (Just to note, we had already reached out to several local contractors, but none gave us the confidence to move forward. We always had lingering doubts--whether it was about pricing, professionalism, or trustworthiness.) Javier, the owner, quickly arranged an in-person visit to check out our yard. He shared timelines, and pricing possibilities with us. He also collaborates with a landscape designer, Charlene Brum (www.brumlandscape.design.com). Working with Charlene was such a smooth and stress-free experience (everything I needed!). She created CAD plans to scale, which really eased my worries, confusion and all the unknown. Charlene was incredibly patient, clear in her communication, and so friendly. It honestly felt like talking to a friend who was just as excited as I was to help with my yard. Once the work started, there was no stopping the team! Javier has a fantastic crew that works hard and cohesively. Fernando, who led our project onsite, was very respectful and always took the time to make sure I understood his answers whenever I had questions. It was also heartwarming to see Fernando and crew mentoring a young adult on the team, teaching him about the trade and safety. My husband and I were consistently impressed with the daily progress, especially since some of my neighbors had shared less-than-ideal experiences with their own yard projects. I'm so relieved to say that our experience was nothing like that--ours was smooth! After about three weeks of hard work, the crew finished, and we absolutely love our new backyard and are excited to add our future shed and dog area. Our German Shepherd loves the evolved space too! By the end of the day I called he was walking my backyard, measuring and promised a quote the next morning. Never having installed artificial turf before I really didn't know what to expect. I was surprised, it is expensive. Tony explained in detail about every charge. It made sense from the water and maintenance savings. Then to my surprise they scheduled a start five days later. The crew lead by Jesus were the hardest working people....ever. Rain slowed the process a bit but in the end everything looked fantastic. I have been in real estate for over 50 years. I have dealt with hundreds of sub contractors. Tony and his crew were easily in the top five all time greats. After the turf I asked him to bid taking down a dead tree, 85 feet high. In the past I had chased three tree service companies, only one of the three got back to me. Once I finally got a bid they informed me it might be a month before they could get schedule a service. Tony bid the next day, was the lowest bid and had it permitted and taken down ten days later. Oscar and the tree crew were another bunch of hard working positive gentleman. So, I have worked with two different crews on two different jobs with Tony. The experience was a 12 out of ten. For those who are confused by my math, he was 20% better than great. A wonderful and friendly, crew of men arrived "early" to start the job at our home. We needed 8 , 100 foot tall, Italian, cypres trees reduced in height. The job was quickly handled, professionally, with ALL TREE STUFF removed from the yard and home surroundings. They even trimmed a few extra eyesore yard trees to make the view more attractive. What a team! I highly recommend OG's services. And I will be calling them back for additional advice, in the near future. I set up an appointment and our design consultant was Maria Emmet. She provided a ton of information regarding the company, the type of stones she recommended, information on their artificial turf, and advice on the design. Because of the mild slope, she also mentioned I would need a retaining wall. I was hesitant against this since I thought I'd be losing space (on an already small space). Maria said that I would gain so much additional seating since they would make it a sitting retaining wall. She even provided a drawing of the design she had in mind. After that initial meet, we decided to move forward with them. Dan Burnham was our next contact. Dan came out and provided a quick draw up of the yard in person. He spray painted the dirt and let my wife and I see the design. After waking us through the process, his team came out and got to work. It was only a few days of work but the end result is exactly what we were expecting. Now I have a small side yard to let my dog roll on, a bbq area, and a place to just relax. These guys are top notch. I would definitely recommend these guys.
