Agree with other reviews. It is a hit and miss. I've had good service and cut but the last time I went in I came out with exactly what I didn't want - a bad cut. Even though I thoroughly explained I didnt want layers, the stylist cut them and while she did a great job of styling afterward, I hate my hair now. The prices on their website must be old because I had a partial balayage from a level 5 (I have fine hair and always need an experienced stylist to work with it) and was charged $134... unless they charge extra to have the color washed out and my hair styled, it should've only been $100. I would've washed and styled it myself to save $34! I've only been here twice and have only gone to one person here and haven't had the best of luck. After the first time, I went to Gene Juarez for my next appointment - they aren't great either and charge a lot too! So I thought I'd give Daniel Ross another try... wrong decision. I think I'll venture out of the area for my next hair appointment or do it myself at home... at least then if it's screwed up I won't be out so much money and can only be mad at myself! read more

Waaaay too overpriced! After taking my 12 year old son there, he was rushed in and out of the chair in less than 15 minutes, and left with a head of wet hair. I was charged a total of $45...... for what??? The stylist seemed impersonal, (as did the whole staff). Wont' be back, sorry. Not worth the $ nor the time. read more

$75 for a 20 minute dry hair trim and sideways bangs. Being told I'll have to be charged extra for a wash because it would take to long! Really if you don't want to work that late then don't book appointments at 7:45. And then to trim maybe 1/4 inch in under 20 minutes and charge $75. Had a good experience! Very nice and spa like on the inside. It is pricey but I like that you get a paraffin hand soak with your service! I have been going to Daniel Ross for several years. Olivia is my stylist and she is just wonderful. I have very thick, course, auburn hair with a lot of gray. She not only made my color look natural, but she also did a Keratin treatment which solved my issues with frizz since I moved to Washington. I can't believe some of the nasty reviews I've seen here. I've been going here forever, my husband also goes to the same salon, I've never seen anyone walk out looking less than fabulous. As far as making sure no dye is on the skin, Olivia always makes sure I'm dye free and never have spots of color on my skin. I've learned over the years, if you know what you want, you can ask for the stylist who specializes in that area of service and be satisfied with the results. The nice thing about Daniel Ross is there is more than one stylist to fulfill those services. While I have my preferences, when schedules don't align, it has been nice to be able call in and get a seat with someone just as skilled in my hair type and style as my preferred stylist. read more

This review is for a specific hairstylist at Daniel Ross, Celeste Bacon. Celeste took my hair from way past my shoulders to an A Line, or Inverted, Bob. It had been 2 years since I had seen her and I have since moved to California. On a recent visit to the area, I called Daniel Ross hoping to squeeze in an appointment for a cut with Celeste. I was in luck...they had one for 20 minutes from the time I called. She remembered me and we caught up a bit, and I showed her the sad state of my hair. I have had it cut several times since my move to CA, and have never been fully satisfied. Let me tell you...Celeste knows hair. She discovered that the way it had been cut was more suited for a person with thick hair, and my hair is very fine. There were too many layers and the bottom third of my hair was really thinned out. I have been trying to grow it long again but have been so frustrated with the way it looks as it gets longer. She explained that I needed a blunt cut, with minimal layers only on the top, and that we needed to take an inch and a half off to get it looking thicker and healthy again. *Sigh*... My hair grows pretty slowly; an inch and a half takes awhile to achieve. But I trust Celeste, and so I let her work her magic. I was so pleased with the result that I had to sing her praises. She truly listens to her clients and is wonderful at explaining why she does what she does. I will be seeing her again when I visit in October...until then, no one is touching my hair! read more

I get my gray roots covered every 4-5 weeks so I am glad I found Daniel Ross and Jessica! The other salons kept putting on different colors every time I went in, which could be due to their high employee turn over. The front office staff is also great. When I went here my needs were not addressed, were not even discussed with me. I wanted Gwen Stefani hair and my stylist said that would be easy to do. I had my hair boxed dyed to a blonde already and she told me the bleach would take easily. But at the end it was nothing like I wanted. It was even darker than my original color! When I called to complain, they said the stylist could redo it for no charge because I was so dissatisfied. And when I came in the next time they gave me a form saying I didn't want a patch test, but I didn't receive that form the last time which irked me a bit. And when I sat back down at my previous stylists seat whom I saw 2-3 days ago, she was surprised. I didn't want to be rude so I just explained why I was back. Saying the color is not what I wanted and I wanted the bleach blonde look. ANd at this point she explained to me that it was not even bleach that she put in my hair. She said she didn't bleach it because of the box dye in my hair. At that point I explained that she did not tell me this, and if she did I would have left right then and there. Which put her in a foul mood. So she then said let me look at your hair. She put on the gown and assessed my hair and said "Let's do a patch test." And before I could even talk to her about options and see what else we could do she cut off a piece of my hair! And it wasn't even a good cut. It was choppy and you could tell someone cut it when I put my hair up. When she went into the back to mix up some bleach and lather it, I got up and left. At this point I was pretty much done with the salon, so I decided to tell the manager over the phone how I felt about my service. She did not believe me, took the salonist's side and became very rude when I asked for a refund. The best she could offer me was another stylist's service. I declined. read more

I had the worst service 2 times. When I came in to get my hair fixed because it was orange I was told it's something I should've known and blah blah blah. Was in serious need for my hair colored and cut. I live close and my regular stylist was booked way out so I thought I would try this place. I asked for a level 3 or above and got a level 1 stylist. I am very particular with my hair and spending a lot of money I should be. Well it started out fine but I left so upset. One thing I love is the wash, however she went crazy on my head, like I was in a earthquake. I asked her to please not be so rough but it was the same. On top of water all over my face and in my ears. By then I just wanted to leave but I was stuck. My stylist had no knowledge of there own products and took no initiative on telling me more. The place also needs an upgrade. The heat lamps are from the 70's. For a so called high end salon I would have expected up to date equipment. Just too bad. read more

I've been going for years. My complaint is, I find a stylist I love and they leave - or they work so few hours they might as well leave. The prices really are way too high, you shouldn't have to pay $55 for a TRIM! I mean seriously, it doesn't take that much work to snip some bangs and the very ends of hair. Insane! I can get my bangs trimmed for free, but they SHOULD do that since they overcharge to begin with. And a lot of places do free bang trims for customers. If I could find someone I trust that's cheaper I would go there instead. read more

After getting Balayage highlights from Leah (who is a level 5 and teaches hair coloring to others!), I have never gone back. I had clumps of blonde hair on one side of my head inches from the scalp. I went back to get it fixed, and Leah blamed it on me...that that's what Balayage is supposed to look like and I must not have understood. She "fixed" it by foiling highlights but when I got home I could see that the highlights were an inch from my head and looked grown out. I called the manager, who took Leah's side. kicking myself for not being more thorough in researching this place. The presentation is nice. They were friendly. But for two hundred bucks I would expect the curl to well stay curly. While I have long thick hair and i was upfront about my hair being difficult to perms. I would have expected a bit more expertise in wrapping. Usually hair stylists do a piggy back on long hair but a regular wrap was done and not well at that so almost a week later the entire curl underneath the back is straightened. I wasn't going to review this salon after my last appointment but considering how angry I was after I left I feel that I have to let others know. I came in for a waxing (this was not the problem), it was just a routine eyebrow wax with my favorite gal. As I came out from the spa to pay there were quite a few people up front by the desk speaking very unprofessionally about the staff. They didn't even stop after they noticed me! I couldn't believe my ears that this man and front desk girl were talking so bad about an employee. I asked my wax girl quietly after who the people were and was astonished when I found out the man was the owner and the girl was their manager! I left so angry that people could speak this way up front where others could hear- there was even another lady waiting in the waiting room! If that is the way they treat their staff I am sorry to say I will not be back! I feel bad for the poor girl who works there that they were speaking so awful about. I will NOT recommend this salon to anyone as I do not promote companies with poor management who treat people that way. read more

Not happy at all with my visit to Daniel Ross in Covington, WA. I was ready for a serious change - and was VERY excited to get a new look. Came in and spoke with my hairdresser and said I just wanted to make sure my hair ended up at least touching my shoulders. She did a quick cut and said she was done - not any change except 1/2" off the bottom and an additional layer or two. I said that I was hoping for a new look, did she have any suggestions - she just said "well it's your hair". I was practically begging for suggestions or ideas - she had NONE. Finally had her at least shorten my hair a bit more, and left. Didn't want to make waves, so just paid my bill. Came home depressed, when I had been so excited to go. Big waste of my money - felt like at a salon like that the girls would have at least some experience and imagination to at least offer up some ideas. Will never go back and my hair looks worse than before I came in - doesn't do anything for me now. read more

I have been going to Daniel Ross Salon for 7 years now. Not only do I rely on this salon to make my hair look fabulous, it is also a fantastic place to relax with a stone massage. I have repeatedly been pleased with all of the services. My reason for this comment, however, is not to simply brag about the quality of service I have received as a customer at Daniel Ross over the past 7 years. I recently referred a friend to visit this salon, being the computer person that she is; she decided to do a little online research about Daniel Ross before scheduling her appointment. She found this very Yelp thread containing reviews on this salon. I would like to say that rarely do customers (like me) come to post about great service. Sadly, more often than not, customers only post online reviews after a negative customer service experience. I proudly stand by my recommendation for this upscale (and conveniently located) Covington salon. read more

I had my first visit today at Daniel Ross. I looked at their website first, gave my preferences of three stylists and they were able to get me in the next day with a level 3 stylist. I am very happy with Kaylea. She was professional, polite and knowledgeable. I came for a cut, but scheduled a color for the near future based on her knowledge as we spoke during my haircut. I've been paying the same price at another salon with similar skill level, but less availability, convenience, Two improvements the salon could make which come to mind are 1. professionalism of scheduler ( probably just a maturity issue), and 2. perhaps a slight facelift in the upkeep of the cabinets/walls as well as some mindfulness with regard to the floor upkeep after the last customer. But , it is a welcoming salon, and I like the atmosphere. I had to bring my 12 year old with me due to no sitter, and Kaylea was very accommodating as she invited him to sit with me next to her station in an unoccupied chair. My experience was very good, and I tipped her well. read more
