Working in the dental field myself I have worked with and seen my fair share of dentists. There's a reason why I see Dr Nam for my cleanings and other dental needs. My whole family and a bunch of my friends continue to see him. Living in San Francisco I have no problem driving to Oakland to see him. He's that good! If you didn't know he also sees patients in San Francisco's Embarcadero but finding parking can be hard. Dr nam is awesome person, dentist and has a passion for helping the community. He's honest and won't up sell you like some dentist! Give him a chance and I promise you'll love him and his staff. read more

Love this place! What an Amazing staff and experience! Everyone is so nice and Dr. Nam knows his stuff. Look for the black building. Very nice and new place!! I highly recommend coming here. I just had a great teeth cleaning and trays made for my TMJ/ teeth grinding. They are knowledgable and want to help, so don't hesitate to come on in! You can make your appointment online or via phone so that's definitely a perk! read more

I'm not a huge fan of going to the dentist, but Dr. Amy Blake was very personable and had great bedside manners! The cleaning was super easy and painless! The dental assistant, Mai, was very upbeat and professional as well. I'm really glad I found this dental office and will be coming here for any future dental work. read more

Really appreciate the way Dr. Nam explains everything and in a way that's easy to understand - from billing to what's going on in the mouth. Dr. Nam really took the time to listen to my mom's concerns and let her lead the way. The staff is so friendly. I didn't get everyone's names, but Jasper was so kind to my mom and really put her at ease when she was feeling very nervous. Truly great dentist and office. read more

Dr. Nam is incredible. He's the nicest dentist I've ever met. Despite his busy schedule, Dr. Nam and his staff does charity work to help the poor. When I was in pain and needed an emergency root canal, Dr. Nam took me in even with a fully booked schedule. I recommended all my friends and colleagues to Dr. Nam and they were all happy with his service. read more

I chose Dr. Nam's office after moving to Oakland largely based on his Yelp ratings, and because he is an in-network provider under my insurance. I was happy with my previous dentist, but Dr. Nam's practice is truly fantastic. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes for an appointment. All of the hygienists and office staff are competent and kind, and Dr. Nam himself is both knowledgeable and cool/normal. The office is quiet and relaxing and makes going to the dentist seem like a pretty ok thing. read more

Dr. Nam and his team are AMAZING. Super clean, efficient, friendly staff. Always very happy to accommodate my crazy schedule and work with me via phone/text/email etc! Cleanings are easy & painless & Dr. Man pulled a wisdom tooth of mine in (no joke) about 10 minutes. I overpaid the meter by 2 hours . I've never had to wait and they are super organized & on top of it! I didn't like the dentist until I found this one. Really really good! read more

Staff is super friendly. Very clean environment. Dr. Nam is nice, caring, and great bedside manners. Would definitely recommend.

Is it weird to say that it was fun? Amazing office staff, lovely surroundings, and Dr. Nam is great. I hadn't been to a dentist in 10 years and he made me feel great and did a great job. Just go. read more

I have been a patient of Dr.Nam's for many years now. He inherited me from the previous dentist when he took over the Oakland dental office. In fact, I was in the process of searching for a new dentist when he called to inform me that he was new and the dental practice was now his. I decided to give him a try and have been his patient ever since. He is very informed and knowledgeable about his industry; he is also aware of patient apprehensions and their need to be comfortable and relaxed and given an explanation prior to procedures. He does a wonderful job. read more

Everyone I encountered today did an amazing job and I could tell they are all truly passionate about helping people. read more

Like anyone I was scared to go to the dentist, but I hadn't been for SEVEN years so I was seven times scared. Dr. Nam and his team made this visit super pleasant and relaxing, so I felt ok about skipping yoga later that night. I didn't have any cavities and barely any plaque (honestly now I'm just bragging), so it was a very mellow visit. Had I had any trouble, Dr. Nam seems very chill and professional and like a really cool guy. Best dentist! read more

Thanks Dr. Blake! I have never been one to loathe visiting the dentist, but some are definitely better than others. Dr. Blake was efficient, friendly, and took the time to explain what she was doing (and why) as she was doing it. I appreciate the professionalism of Dr. Blake and the rest of the staff. I was only in for a cleaning, but will definitely be back. Thank you again, and keep up the good work! read more

Dr Nam is fantastic. As much of a pleasure as it can be going to the dentist, this is it. Thanks Doc!

Everyone in Dr. Nam's office is kind and gentle. As someone with a great deal of dental anxiety and years of neglect due to being uninsured, I have found them all to be amazing. In addition, both dentists in the office do significant community service. This is also beautiful read more

Dr. Nam & his staff rate 99/100. Dr. Nam is simply first rate! Not enough positive adjectives in the dictionary to describe Dr. Nam. In accessing dental care over the past 20+years, I have never encountered a dentist who is as competent & knowledgeable in providing dental care. Not only does he explain what he doing, but just as important, why he is doing it. Every member of his staff is professional--courteous--competent--whether handling insurance billing, scheduling appointments, providing cleanings, taking x-rays. It is quite apparent the staff enjoy working with Dr. Nam. .some adjectives to describe Dr. Nam: outstanding, terrific, professional, down-to-earth, unpretentious, teacher, mentor, gives back to the community, recognized by his peers, read more

LOVED Dr. Nam! I was referred to him by a co-worker and they fit me in the next day (as a first-timer!)! He was gentle and kind, didn't make me talk while I had the xray pieces in my mouth which is a plus. His assistant, Kate was great too. They were fast and easy to work with. So glad I found them! read more

Don't get me wrong, I hate teeth and getting dental work. But never have I felt so genuinely welcomed from every single staff member in a medical office before. From beginning to end, visiting Dr. Nam's office is always an amazing experience. Taylor always goes above and beyond and is so comforting! Bravo Dr. Nam, you and your staff deserve a standing ovation! read more

Dr. Nam is very thorough in everything he does, and always takes the time to clearly answer any questions or concerns that I may have. The new office is fantastic. Spacious, inviting, and modern. Can't go wrong with the complimentary nitrous too! read more

Dr. Nam and his assistant at the SF office are awesome! I have had mixed experiences with dentists, some better than others, but Dr. Nam has been the best so far! His casual and friendly style puts you instantly at ease, and it quickly becomes clear that he is a professional that is skilled at his work. They are very sensitive to "dental trauma" and go above and beyond to make sure that you are doing well through the procedure and they manage your expectations well by telling you ahead of time what sensation you may feel. There are many great dentists in the area, but they generally have a 6 month or so wait. It really disturbs me when my medical offices are more difficult to get into than the hottest night club in Vegas. Dr. Nam's office is different, they are definitely get you in within weeks even as a new patient and I'm grateful for that. read more

I heart Dr. Nam! He and his staff are prompt and quick. If I have an 8 am cleaning, I know that I'll be in the chair at 8 am and out by 8:30 - 8:45. Dr. Nam tells you what he's doing so there are no surprises and he's so friendly and chill. He makes going to the dentist as painless as possible. Whenever someone mentions Dr. Nam my instinct is to say "I LOVE DR. NAM!!" That's weird right? Oh well, he's that good. read more

I recently switched dentists and Dr. Nam was highly recommended by my sister (who is also a dentist in Texas). The office staff is friendly and helpful. Taylor was my hygienist and she was gentle and easy to talk to. Dr. Nam and his team are amazing! I had a horrible dentist growing up and did not actually go to see another dentist for 11 years. Everyone in his office is sooooo friendly and extremely professional. I recently had a full set of X-rays taken, my teeth cleaned, and night guards made. Taylor, who did my cleaning, was so gentle and thorough. My teeth felt great afterwards and I did not experience any discomfort. My night guards fit perfectly. I highly recommend Dr. Nam. read more

Dr. Nam and his staff are incredible! I've been seeing them for the past 2.5 years and it's been great every time. Dr. Nam has extracted a wisdom tooth as well as fixed a botched extraction from a previous dentist. The procedure went smoothly and even after having to sit there for 3+ hours, there was hardly any pain afterwards and it healed up nicely within the first week and a half. Taylor is also wonderful and has cleaned my teeth since they moved to the new location. I've learned a lot about how to take care of my gums and what areas to pay close attention to. I highly recommend Dr. Nam's office for your dental needs! read more

I have been going to Dr. Nam as long as his Oakland office has been open. Twice a year, I have been going to his office to get my teeth cleaned and until recently I was lucky enough to not need any other work. I thought about leaving a review on yelp for Dr. Nam before but I really couldn't judge just how good of a dentist he was. I mean, he is a nice dude and all my cleanings went well but that's like judging an electrician on his ability to change a light bulb. About six months ago, he spotted a cavity on one of my upper wisdom teeth that had erupted above the gumline and was coming out crooked. Whenevern I brushed my teeth, I always knew it was difficult brushing the two wisdom teeth so I wasn't surprised that I got a cavity there. He had always recommended that I get these two wisdoms removed and the cavity was the tipping point. Honestly, I wanted to delay the extraction procedure as long as possible and set a date that was another half year out. That day was yesterday. I will be honest and admit that I was a bit nervous going into the office simply because I didn't know what to expect. He had assured me that the procedure would be routine and quick but still, I was nervous. I arrived at his office. Two x-rays and a few anasthetic shots to numb the areas that he was going to work on, he quickly went to work. Within 30 seconds, one wisdom tooth was out and I didn't even realize that he had pulled it because he was so efficient. The second one took a little bit longer and I did feel the a tiny bit of sensation but that one was out within a minute too. When I think about it, a lot of dental work is a combination of brute force AND delicate touch. Simply put, he's got skillz. As I am writing this, I am pretty much pain free and have not had any need to take pain medication, which also suggests that he pulled those teeth out without ripping up parts of my gum. One more thing, as I was sitting in my chair waiting for the anasthesia to kick in, Dr. Nam was attending to a toddler patient for his first dental visit. Dr. Nam was awesome with the kid and the kid could be about as comfortable as he could be. After that kid was done and was leaving with his mom, I actually heard Dr. Nam dismiss some of the charges because the mom didn't have insurance and was paying out of pocket. I could actually sense the gratitude and relief in the mom's voice as she thanked Dr. Nam. It's really ironic that I decided to post this today and I see the 1 star post claiming Dr. Nam is about $$$. Absolutely untrue. 5 stars. read more
