Wanted to love this since I was excited about this place opening up but I would stick with the ribs and that's about it. Chili is not good.

I would definitely eat here again!! The food is so good! My grilled honey bbq chicken wings were delish! The mac n cheese, so good! For dessert i had "The King" that was fabulous! Everyone was so nice and if you order a pepsi, dont forget to ask for cherry syrup in it. You wont regret it read more

I'm pretty picky about my BBQ but I was born in Texas so it's in my DNA. Had the pulled pork and sliced brisket combo with the cilantro line slaw and the onion rings. The pork was tender, full of flavor and juicy. The brisket was tender, soft and no knife was needed to cut it....literally just used the side of my fork. The cilantro lime slaw could have used a little more lime in it but overall it was good. The onion rings were crispy and made fresh. I don't know how the other person wasn't able to notice the onion running through it because it was obvious to me. My only complaint is that it could use a little more salt to bring out the flavors a little more but I'd defenitaly be back again! read more

Dang, it was good!! Yummy decadent comfort food at its best with some healthy options available too! We devoured the chicken bacon ranch cheese fries. So I wouldn't feel totally guilty, I also ordered a house dinner salad topped with bbq pork which was healthy and delicious. We'll be back!! read more

Tried this place for the first time and we liked it. The food was excellent and big portions. The staff even checked our take out order to make sure everything was there before we left. Samples of sauces were good portions and all the sauces were delicious. We will definitley be back. Hope they do well. Nice change for the area. read more

I came to Dang yesterday night (the super bowl night). The only reason I came was because my brother has ordered food around 12pm to take to a party. I came here about 5:20ish, once my bf told them the name and that it was a pick up they had no idea what he was talking about. Apparently my brothers order was NEVER PROCESSED, it was written on a ticket in the back but never done again he called at 12 ! So we decided to just order two more things since what my brother ordered wasn't even prepared. We ordered 12 wings and 2 sliders (with the bbq on the side) due to the fact that I get hives sometimes when I eat it. We stood there for 45mins ! We didn't get a discount or anything extra for the huge inconvenience all we got is an "I'm sorry" and not even by the manger. So we left and once we got home the bbq wasn't on the side it was in the sliders, thank god my bf took a bite first. I was HIGHLY UPSET. Also I don't think it's so hard to update your website or put a sign outside the door about you not letting people in to dine for the game that you guys were only doing pick ups because you have a friends and family event for the game. People were coming in with their families and you just kicked them out. That's embarrassing. Overall this experience with Dang was horrible, will I go back ? Been to dang bbq couple times and seems like every time I go, I get more disappointed! First two times was amazing, but just recently ordered a pull pork sandwich to go and the bottom bun was so soggy that I couldn't even hold it up, maybe they should get better quality of buns and or toast them so it is not soggy. Hope dang realizes what potential they have if they start actually caring the meals with some passion and dedication. read more

Been here a hand full of times! This place is amazing! It's me and my boyfriends new Friday night thing! The brisket is so tender it falls off the fork. They have insane monstrosity shakes filled with everything you can imagine. The pulled pork is filled with flavor and is so amazing. I high recommend this great place! The general manager louis is amazing makes sure everything comes out great and everything is running smoothly. Visited on a Friday night, about 8:15pm. Tables are small for 4 guests & uneven when cutting food or lifting beverages. Now the food: I had a peanut butter and raspberry bacon jelly burger, which was yummy. I would probably make it crunchy peanut butter rather than the smooth...lol. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich and said it was delicious, (he picked the spicy but it didn't have much spice). Tap beer was cold. First time we ate the food here. I loved it! The BBQ potato chips were very good. My pulled pork Sandwich was very tasty and juicy. My husband had the double stack burger and he really enjoyed it. We shared an order of the chicken bacon ranch fries which were also very good. We tried the mac and cheese but I felt it lacked cheddar flavor but my husband disagreed. We ate too much but we enjoyed all of it. The only downside is the wait. We ordered it to go. They told me 30 minutes and when I got there I had to wait another 15 minutes. I just ordered take out from Dang. I'm very disappointed. The fries had the whole jar of salt on them and they were not edible. They forgot a side order (and charged us for it) and forgot a sauce that went with an appetizer. I mean, the food is pretty good but I'm not going to lie, they sort of over do it. The first time I went I spent a ridiculous amount of time just reading and understanding the menu, trying to figure out what I wanted. There's just too many similar options. Last night was my second time eating their food, first time for delivery. The AJ's Italian sandwich my boyfriend ordered was squished from the heavy mac and cheese container above. I got the Cincinnati Kid mac and cheese which comes with a "heaping portion" of their homemade bbq chili.... well, when it says "heaping portion", take it literally because you couldn't even see the mac it was covered in so much chili. Overall the food itself was tasty, but if there was any advice I had to give them, surprisingly, just do less. read more

This is a tale of 2 reviews in one. First the service was average, but our waiter seemed to be about 18y/o and not very experienced as far as we were concerned, but it isn't a difficult place to be a waiter and everyone starts somewhere so we cut him slack, he was trying. Putting that aside our empanadas, we ordered for a starter, came out with the middle still frozen. I took about 3 bites before hitting ice. We of course complained (politely) and he apologized and took them back to get us, what we thought would be, new properly cooked empanadas, wrong; we got back the same two even the 1/2 eaten one! True they were now hot all the way through, but come'on they couldn't replace the 1/2 chewed one?!! Even as a courtesy for giving us a frozen appetizer?! Second, after all that, the food was very good. So even after a rocky start the food itself sold us on the place. I had the Wolf's Revenge and my wife ordered the pulled pork w/Mac and cheese. Even though we now know some of the food is frozen and pre made it was still pretty good. So give credit where credit is due. Will we be back? not anytime soon, but we would. I will add this: their custom Milk Shakes looked amazing and might be worth another trip to at least try them for dessert. This is your basic sloppy, good (not fresh) food bar-B-Q that needs some attention to details to bring people back again and again (like freshly made food cooked right the first time). Mac and cheese was good and for the price it was worth it. Pretty filling. The ribs were ok, a little burnt. The fries obviously were frozen but still good based on the seasoning. Shake was good. Only reason giving 3 starts is the horrible customer service experience. When I first walked in it wasn't clear where to order once I found the area I waited about 5 minutes with 3 people behind me because the girl who takes the order was sitting on her phone and never noticed anyone was waiting. Definitely overstaffed since all the employees were just standing around. Would come back for the Mac and cheese though and the shakes. Just hope they get better service or trained better. read more

Had a great experience! Staff was nice and accommodating. We came with 2 young kids and they did everything possible to make us feel welcome and comfortable. As a family of 4, we shared the 3 meat platter with ribs! It was plenty of food and extremely tasty. My youngest love the mac and cheese and basically ate the whole serving. Wait an hour for our take out 6 meals.....go to pick it up and the man, George, who walked in after us, was given our HUGE order. They actually called him to bring back our order!!! As an Islip local, I want you to be successful. That said-a few suggestions. Please simplify the menu! Do less, but do it great. Menu is a bit confusing-shouldn't be that hard! Need to have great pulled pork-(it is) great mac n cheese (pretty close to being great); cole slaw (needs a little work); baked beans (very good) knowledgeable staff ("Let me check")-needs a little work; but tries hard. My boyfriend and I ordered from here tonight. I never write negative reviews, but we were so excited to try this place. Firstly, while ordering the girl on the phone asked what kind of cheese my boyfriend wanted on his Idaho bbq potato- melted or cheddar? He said melted, then she goes "oh wait, we ran out of that. So cheddar?" Ok cheddar is fine. She responds with "oh sorry, we don't have that either". Then she asks what sauce he wanted?? We were a little confused about that... but anyway as he was on his way to pick up our food (mind you the wait time was 45 mins to an hour), which he left our house 40 mins after the order was placed- they called him and said they didn't have the baked potato. Ok..... he gets home with our wings and there is no ranch, bleu cheese, celery... or any of the things the wings are advertised to come with. Wings were undercooked and pink on the inside.. even after we asked for them crispy.... very disappointed.... read more

Newly opened in Islip, NY - food is fantastic & staff seems very helpful but being new they are still finding there way when it comes to serving their customers in a timely manner, especially when they find themselves busy. For now if you are going to take out call ahead - ordering to go on site has taken the better part of 20-30 mins -- again they are ew and things are a little chaotic but the food they put out is worth it. Hard to get my 7yr old to try other places than her favorite Chilis. We passed by and I asked if she wanted to try Dang BBQ. She said sure so we pulled in. She opted to dine in as she likes the full experience. We chose stool tables against the wall. She wanted chicken wings which surprised the heck out of me as she has never EVER asked for wings. We opted fried no sauce as we wanted to sample the selection of sauces at the table. We also each order a burger. Hers cheddar bacon, mine monster with chili and jalapeños. The wings came out and I often worry that they will be rubbery. These were cooked perfectly! Crispy, not greasy, and piping hot. We both sampled each sauce and my daughter who does not like any other sauce than ketchup was enjoying sweet bbq. Our burgers arrived. I ordered both well done which again can be hit or miss. They either come out still pink which turns me off or a hockey puck. Both cooked all the way thru and still juicy. Both loaded to the gills with our respective toppings on what I consider the best burger bun Ive had when dining out. I ordered onion rings as my side as Im not a potato person. The batter they used was pleasantly light and crispy compared to other places Ive tried. It didn't feel like you were eating a loaf of bread with each ring and you could enjoy the onion inside. And again beware piping hot!!! Temp not spice LOL. In the end we found ourselves full to the gills and still picking because it was that good. We opted to take our left overs home which will make for a second meal. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. More than you'd expect in this laid back atmosphere. The only reason I would come back is to try the shakes! They looked amazing. Food was garbage. I ordered the spicy q-rito burger. The burger was like a slab of shoe leather topped with microwaved bacon that was covered in blubber, barely any pepper jack cheese (couldn't taste it) and a mound of lettuce that made the entire thing cold. I requested no tomato which they left off, but along with that they forgot the fried onion tanglers, and pickles. I would have rathered a snack wrap from mcdonalds, way better in my opinion. So I sent that back and figured I'd just get the smoked piggy poppers. They came out under fried, no crispiness, soaked in grease. Once again the bacon was completely fatty and the jalapeños themselves were actually soggy. The Gouda to pork ratio was completely off because I honestly don't even think there was any pork in it, if there was they sure fooled me. Only ate one of the four and packed the rest to go-- probably in the garbage. I was completely disappointed in my experience here. read more

To sum it up in one word-Disappointing. I read the menu online and was torn on what to order because everything sounded appealing. Upon walking in the front door I knew I was going to be disappointed. There was no hostess and an employee shouted at us from behind the bar/counter area informing us we could sit wherever we liked. My first thought is this restaurant looks like every single dive bar that I've seen on bar rescue. I was actually waiting for Jon Taffer to burst through the door and start screaming at the employees. Well that didn't happen and we took a seat and a waitress came over right away. The service was good throughout but the food was absolutely terrible. I ordered a "gourmet" mac and cheese which completely lacked cheese. The food tasted as if it was microwaved and then thrown on a plate without thought. Zero flavor and zero satisfaction. Like I said earlier, the menu sounds great but the food failed to live up to any standards. Even the cosmic milk shake that I ordered for $9 was all about looks and nothing about good taste. Really disappointed in this place. I was super excited to see it and waited for it to open with enthusiasm- mac and cheese, what? Mm I was so ready. But dude. Stop with the canned and frozen reheated food. The meal was SO disappointing. The beans were canned, so obviously canned- very sad actually. The waffle fries were reheated frozen bagged ones and soggy, and the onion rings soggy too with no noticeable onion in the middle- you know, the frozen bagged kind. Again. We threw both our waffles and onion rings away after a few bites. Waste of money!!. The corn bread was a store bought corn mini muffin. The meal was SO disappointing. And my daughter called the mac and cheese disgusting and didn't touch it. The burger patty was cooked right, so that's a plus I guess- but the rest of the burger was blegh, and the brisket was also eeh, at best. All in all a huge huge disappointment. And I disagree with the last post that said these are bumps on the road because the restaurant is new, that's inaccurate- this is because they are cheap and are trying to make the most profit with the least amount of investment- food and energy wise. I just love good barbecue and have had some of the best so when I heard from family about this place I had to get here to try it. Well, to start with #1...No Ribs!! How can you call yourself a barbecue joint without ribs? OK...barbecue is all about the meat so I ordered a two meat combo plate with sliced brisket and pulled pork. Both meats came out looking very grey, loaded with fat and dripping grease. The brisket was loaded with fat which was hard to cut away because the meat and the fat were both the same grey color. The pulled pork was like mush. Both lacked any of that good smokey flavor I was hoping for or any flavor at all for that matter. The sauces, which appeared to be homemade, were equally mediocre. I've had better sauce from a grocery store bottle. Sides I tried were chipotle lime cole slaw, beans and a corn bread muffin. The chipotle lime dressing was rather blah. The corn muffin was about the size and shape of a small meat ball and basically a waste of effort. The beans were actually the most flavorful but still nothing to write home about. My husband had a smoked turkey sandwich on a roll he said was"ok" but could have "used something". Our son-in-law had something called a jurassic which was like a barbecue meat burrito. He called it "rich" which I interpreted to mean loaded with grease. Daughter had waffle fries with shredded brisket, sauce , sour cream & green onions...sort of a take on nachos...that looked like a heart attack in a bowl to me. Grandkids had milk shakes, mac & cheese, waffle fries and pulled pork sliders. Our youngest grandkid loves her food very, very soft and she loves the pulled pork. This is my second time visiting this restaurant. The first time, I ordered half a rack of St. Louis style ribs. They were terrific. I am a huge bbq fan, and I have had the best out of state. Dang's ribs were meaty and flavorful. This is coming from a guy who orders his ribs dry and only adds a bit of sauce here and there. My daughter ordered the Big Wild Mac n' Cheese. Indeed, it was Hog Wild. The best by far was the pulled pork. It was so exceptional that today I have returned to just get a big plate of pulled pork! That said, the Hog Wild Mac n' Cheese's illustrious combination of sweet smoked sausage, pulled pork, onion strings, and superb mac n' cheese was over-the-top delicious. My daughter opted to have the bbq sauce on the side, and it still tasted amazing. For dessert, ohhhh....we ordered huge, homemade shakes, each decorated with candy and other toppings on the side of the glass! We both ordered THE COSMIC: Chocolate milkshake (here we go): mixed with chocolate brownie and crushed Oreos, topped with another brownie, whipped cream, and more crushed Oreos, and the glass was "painted" with m&m's and chocolate frosting!! Was happy to see a place close by open up, considering these were the owners of port royal I had high hopes from this place. Unfortunately as soon as we ordered things went down hill. After ordering our food 25 minutes prior on the phone, had to wait to pay at one counter, and then go stand at another counter for another 15 minutes. Ordered the farmagedden sandwich..for $15 could not feel more ripped off. The 2 giant onion rings took up about 40% of the sandwiches space to begin with... the meat was dry and had no flavor. The only reason for 2 stars is because the BBQ sauce was good...had to drown my sandwich in it for it to become more appealing to me. A lot of this is big plate catering-like orders and not really custom to single ordering. Not much verity on the menu. Not everybody loves mac and cheese...out of the 2 of the 4 sandwiches they had mac and cheese inside.. they most certainly need to expand menu to add some verity to their sandwich section. Won't be heading back until the menu has changed and new things are added. read more
