It's actually crazy--it looks exactly like the photos I show him every single time. He's a true professional who knows his craft. The Value: If I were rating the studio's pricing alone, it would probably be a 3 or a 4. A normal haircut here is about $90, which is undeniably expensive. I know the barbers rent their individual booths and don't set those studio prices, but $90 is a lot for a standard cut. Final Verdict: Even though the price is steep, Max does such a great job that I don't mind paying to see him. I'd follow him anywhere just to cut out the middleman, but as long as he's here, it's worth the investment for a perfect cut.

I've been going to Cratchit Dankcut's (the name is derived, in part, from Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," which the English major in me adores) for over 1.5 years now, and I can't imagine going anywhere else! My hair is pretty stubborn, and before I found Zac I was hesitant about going to the barber because I knew that whoever was cutting my hair would be imprecise, dull and probably old as fuck. I can honestly that I've been satisfied with every haircut I've received from Zac, and that the reluctance I once had for getting haircuts has been replaced with an enthusiasm for the short time I get to spend at Cratchit every month or so. It's been so wonderful to see all of the thought, time, and care that Zac has put into cultivating his business. Besides the great, stylish décor and laid-back atmosphere, what makes Cratchit Dankcut's so great is Zac's discerning eye and innate skill as a barber. These traits shouldn't be taken lightly - in fact, I'd say that all of the success Zac has had so far is rooted in his persona as a small business owner and barber. He makes it a point to establish genuine relationships with all of his clients, and his sincerity as a man is so refreshing in a place like Irvine, where it's difficult to find shops run by cool, young people with good taste... Part of the allure of Cratchit Dankcut's is that it's local - the place is only 5 minutes from my house, and you can tell that Zac has managed to successfully build a quality institution that provides a service for guys who, fed up with dull and commerical salons like 18/8 and its ilk, want a place in which they can feel comfortable and taken care of. But all of this amazing shit comes at a price, which is that the sheer volume of customers that Cratchit Dankcut's has makes it difficult to schedule appointments. However, the new addition of Lorin (a great barber, who is working under Zac's tutelage) essentially doubled the availability and Augustine is always very helpful when it comes to scheduling. Do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment at Cratchit! The reviews speak for themselves. read more

Danckuts is the TRUTH when it comes to men's haircuts. In a time where "barbers" line out shopping centers, Danckuts finds itself snuggled in the backside of a quaint little plaza. Most barbers that I've been to all give the generic cut that makes you look like every other guy on the street as quick as possible to send you on your way and take the next transaction but at Danckuts, you're welcomed by the most friendly staff who take the time to know your name and what you do. Matt greeted me the first time I went and, although I didn't have an appointment at an appointment only establishment, he tried to accommodate me the best way he could, offering me a refreshing beverage, suggesting I wait while playing some Mario kart, and frantically going through the system to see if there was any way to fit me in their busy schedule. Luckily for me, there was an opening and I was greeting by Hailey(sorry if I spelled it wrong). Now I know what you're thinking, "a girl at a barber shop?!" I was thinking the same thing but thank God I threw away that mindset. The barbers that are there are some of the best barbers/chill people that I have met. With Zac's (the owner) system, you're going to get the perfect cut every time, customized just for you. I thought it was just a hoax at first but then after I got my cut, they took pictures of different angles of my head to save it in their system so that the next time I go, it'll be just how I want it. I've actually been looking for a barber for quite some time and I can tell you that I found the one I'll be going to for a very long time. read more

I just finished up with a haircut at Cratchit Dankcuts and decided to write my review while my 5 experience was fresh in head. So I used to only go get my haircut when I couldn't stand my unmanageable hair anymore. I would either cut my own hair or go somewhere that I wasn't thrilled about going. Finally I was checking out new haircut places and found out about this place. I've been getting my haircut with Zac for a while now, even before he opened his own shop. Once the shop opened, Cratchit Dankcuts turned into more than a place to get your hair cut. It is a sweet place to hang out, grab something to drink, watch TV, have some good conversations, and get a sweet haircut at a good price. With some haircuts you need to wait a little bit for them to look good, but you will walk out of the shop looking fantastic. Cratchit Dankcuts fits me perfectly as it is not a fancy salon, but a place that really gets the job done and is very enjoyable to be at. Now I count down the days till my next haircut and always look forward to my next haircut. I highly recommend checking out this shop for your next haircut and guaranteed you will keep coming back. Do yourself and everyone who has to look at your hair a favor and give Agustin at Cratchit Dankcuts a call and get your appointment set up. read more

I've visited Danckuts for the third time now, and once again, it was an exceptional experience. Chandler was my stylist this time, and she was fantastic. Not only did she grasp my haircut vision effortlessly, but she executed it flawlessly. Her efficiency, coupled with her ability to engage in friendly small talk, made my time in the chair comfortable and enjoyable. One of the standout features of Danckuts is their commitment to documenting the specifics of your haircut. This philosophy ensures that any stylist or barber can replicate your haircut precisely, regardless of who you see. I've put this to the test over my three visits, with three different stylists, and each time I left feeling like I'd received the same top-notch haircut as before. Unlike other places where awkward silence prevails, Danckuts fosters a welcoming atmosphere where conversation flows naturally. This, combined with their consistency in delivering exceptional service, sets them apart from competitors like Sports Clips. I highly recommend Danckuts for their skilled stylists, commitment to replicating your desired haircut, and the overall exceptional service. Kudos to Chandler and the entire team for consistently exceeding expectations. read more

I have been getting my hair cut by Zac for almost a year now and I see to it that all other business is scheduled around my haircuts. I missed a flight and had to miss an appointment. Everyone know it takes 2 months and your first born child to reschedule with Zac. Nevertheless, I hit up Augie to see if by the grace of God there would be an opening in the next couple days. As fortune would have it there was an opening, but it was with Lorin. I'm not gonna lie, at first I was skeptical. Under normal circumstances I would not get my hair cut by a women, because a dude knows what it should look like as a finished product and women are fragile creatures that like fluffy things. No can do on the fluffy business. That being said, Lorin is bad ass and I would say my cut was equal to what I get from Zac (minus the world star hip hop fight reviews). She is extremely nice, but she can also bullshit with the best of them and tells it like it is. Lorin cuts a mean fade and a wicked straight hard part. Zac is a master of his craft and in true fashion he has hired someone that can replicate his signature touches. Well done good sir and ma'am. In closing, you are in good hands with Lorin. read more

This dude is LEGIT! Zac's talent and experience makes him one of the best. Some stylists just go off in their own little world and cuts away; Zac will never do that. He tries his best to give you the look you want, makes sure you know what he's doing, and also offers you his own advice. You will never get that awkward silence at Danckut's. Zac is the down to Earth kind of dude where you feel comfortable and can talk about anything. I've gone to many high-end, brand name places for my haircut; prices averaging around $50 (not including tips). I was shocked to see my haircut at Danckut's came out to 20 freaking dollars! Don't get robbed again, give Danckut's a try. Go in, grab a complementary drink (beer, wine, soda, or water), have a chat, and come out lookin' fresh. I guarantee you will be seeing Zac again. Join the cool club at Cratchit Danckut's. P.S.: Zac is trying to open his own shop so help him out guys, recommend your buddies this place. Also, click the link above and check out his awesome website for specials like I did (Thursdays = Weekend Warrior). Cratchit Danckut's = swerve. My son's hair had not been cut since summer and really had started to look like a mess. We had a family reunion this past weekend and knowing all of our relatives would be taking pictures, I figured I needed to do something about my son's hair. It was already Wednesday night and I didn't want to take him to Fantastic Sams or Super Cuts to get some uneven tasteless cut, and a friend previously had told me about this gentlemen only barber shop called Cratchit Danckut's in Irvine. She had raved about how great the prices were and how good of a job they did on her husband and how nice the place was and so on and so fourth. So I took her suggestion and called Zac; He was so nice and prompt and did an EXCELLENT job on my son's hair, i was thrilled. It was actually the best cut my son has ever gotten. The pricing was so inexpensive and the service was quick and clean as promised. My son got so many compliments on his dapper 'do at our reunion that my husband has booked himself an appointment for next week for a cut of his own. I highly recommend you take your sons' and husbands' here! read more

I have been a Cratchit Danckut's member since late 2012 / early 2013 when Zac was a one-barber show with Augustine working off shared space within salons. Prior to enlisting the duo, I would always shave my head. Besides the memories of forging stories and laughs, there is something about the establishment which prompted me to become a faithful regular. Cratchit Danckut's is consistent with archived information of haircut length and type as well as pictures of head angles, flexible with the ability to adapt and satisfy the client's needs, and intimate with amicable stoolside manner manifesting relationships for everyone to feel welcome and relax. The business has been growing, introducing novel services like a smartphone application and proposing expansion at additional locations. It is incredible but not surprising to see why the masses return for more. Step in with caution. After the first cut with Cratchit Danckut's, previous barbers may shed tears. Drink them away, lad, you will be here to stay. read more

Long story short these girls and guys know what their doing and I highly recommend them. I started getting my haircut here in middle school around 2014 at the irvine location and always received not only a phenomenal haircut but exceptional service. I stopped coming here for a while and tried alot of other barbers, some cheaper and other pricey. They were all either highly over priced or just a shit haircut. I recently went back to fix a bad haircut from floyd's and they completely transformed my hair. I cannot remember the women's name of the top of my head but bravo to her because I honestly thought I might have to go bald to get rid of that horrid haircut from floyd's. This is the best haircut place in orange county. They keep track of every single change being made to your haircut, which helps the barber give you the same haircut as before. There is definitely consistency in your haircut and you will always leave with the haircut you want. Everyone here is talented. However, Hailey is on another level! You honestly can't go wrong at Stonecreek Plaza Barber Shop--the entire team here is incredibly…read moretalented, professional, and consistent. Every barber in the shop knows exactly what they're doing, and the whole place has a welcoming, top-tier neighborhood vibe. That being said, Tina is my absolute go-to! Her attention to detail is completely unmatched. She takes the time to make sure every blend is seamless, every line is perfectly sharp, and the cut is exactly what I envisioned. Tina is a true artist who takes massive pride in her craft, and she's just fantastic to chat with while you're in the chair. It's rare to find a shop where everyone is great, but even rarer to find a barber as skilled as Tina. If you want to look sharp and feel like a million bucks, this is the place to go. Huge thanks to Tina and the whole crew! Do yourself a favor, make an appointment. Walk-ins ok but might be a wait.

*EDIT* The owner…read morereplied to me and "explained" their actions by giving me some excuse about a rotation and gaslighting me about what I heard coming from Nancy all while calling their Mexican barber, Isaac, slow and inexperienced before her PR training kicked in and deleted THAT response - replacing it with the generic one you now see here. (I know their names because she included it in the response she originally wrote) *END EDIT* Ok, to be fair, my husband and son are happy with their haircuts. The older woman who was working in there (I assume the owner) was very sweet; she offered peanuts to my daughter so she can feed the squirrel outside! The slightly younger woman who actually cut my husband and son's hair? RUDE. RUDE. RUDE. The second we walked up to the barber shop, she was outside walking in and I could hear she was already offended by us. I heard her mutter under her breath "de cho thang me lam di" which means "I should let the Mexican guy work on them" but in a very disparaging tone. As if she's too good to cut our hair so she's gonna let "the Mexican" handle it...so why didn't she let him? Oh yeah, he was busy...everyone in the shop was busy but her. Against my better judgement, we stayed anyway because of my desperation for haircuts...but we are never coming back! As one Vietnamese woman to another, we need to do better. We are never beating the allegations if you are going to continue to perpetuate a stereotype of people feeling like they are being talked about in a salon if that's all you know how to do. Also, don't rent out stations and profit off Mexicans if that's how you really feel.

Barber cut way shorter than I asked and went in with clippers and texturizing scissors on my curls. Which I later found out, a barber who knows what they're doing should only use regular scissors for a cut like this because other tools ruin curls. I called the next day to ask for a manager in hopes to get a refund because this mess cost me $50 and supposedly the one who cut my hair was the manager. An even bigger red flag. They said they don't do refunds because the work is already done and I apparently didn't tell him how long I wanted it and "he always asks how long." Which he did not. However I did show him a photo of how long I wanted AND I told him I'd like it to still be long because I wear my hair long. But guess it's my fault somehow. There was nothing they were willing to do for me for their screw up except "fix it" for free. As if I'd let them touch my hair again. So sad.
