My first visit was good, owner was helpful and I found great shoes, leotards and tights. Second time around ;not so good. A younger girl was behind the counter and seemed that she couldn't be bothered with me, in fact was border line rude. She dismissed my inquires quickly and wasn't a salesperson at all. The size 6x-7 selection was minimal and I was told, and I quote "We don't have a lot because it takes like 4 months to get anything in, so that's all we have, sorry" I get its a smaller privately owned business, but wow...missed sales for sure. When looking for a place to purchase new tap shoes, a dance friend recommended Dance Threadz, so I called on a Sunday to find out hours. They are usually closed to the public on Sundays, but had ballet shoe fittings all day--the woman said to come by and they would take care of me. The girl I spoke with on the phone knew who I was the second I walked in, and immediately helped me find the perfect tap shoes within my budget, all while happily discussing tap classes with me. My daughter has been in dance for 8 years and this is by far the best dance supply store we have been to. The owner is so nice and always remembers us. All the girls that work there are always happy to help and so encouraging of my young dancer. They have all grown up dancing so they are very knowledgeable about all the ins and outs of the products. Because of their experiences they are also so encouraging to all the dancers who come in their store. They have a great selection of leotards in all the different colors that our studio requires based on level. They also have a wall full of tights labeled by the studios who use those types in case you forget which pair you need for a performance. They have a great inventory of shoes and take the time to make sure you are fitted correctly, give advice to non-dancer parents like me, and order any sizes they may not have in stock (e.g. extra wide pre-point shoes). I am looking forward to my daughter's first pointe fitting with them. I cannot recommend them enough. read more

Very competitive pricing and the ladies here are all super sweet and helpful. The other day, I came in looking to get fitted for a different kind of pointe shoe because the ones I was wearing were giving my feet problems. All three ladies working in the store were incredibly patient and sweet and helped to find the new perfect shoe for my feet! They even offered to hold the shoes for me for a few days until I got my next paycheck! Their selection is pretty extensive, but if you're looking for something they don't have, they will offer to order it for you! I came by to get my almost 3 year old daughter ready for her first ballet class. As a former dancer i was impressed with the selection in this small store. We found many leotards to choose from. Unlike the rest of the complaints I have seen on here I watched and listened as the two workers assisted several clients with pointe shoes and they seemed extremely knowledgeable as dancers themselves. I have been to 3 other stores that specialize in pointe shoes and pointe shoe fittings (not including Discount Dance). I much prefer Dance Threadz over the other stores. The other places recommended different pointe shoes that my daughter couldn't stand. Dance Threadz made a recommendation for shoes that my daughter danced very well in and she loved the fit, too. I like to have fittings with the owner, she is highly knowledgeable but her employees also seem highly competent. They have never been snotty or unfriendly, so I have no clue what that other person was complaining about. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about dance wear and will go above and beyond to make sure I get what I want every time I visit. She keeps her store well stocked with dance staples but also has a great selection of the current styles - both in shoes and clothing. Dance Threadz carries the most beautiful selection of leotards and skirts and specializes in pointe shoes. I've been taking my 2 girls there for over a decade and we will never go anywhere else. No one fits point shoes as well as they do. Everyone in the store is kind and knowledgeable. The staff always goes above and beyond. They communicate with local dance studios to make sure they will already have what you need. They even have a system where they will order your pointe shoes automatically so they will always have your size. They also have a huge selection of leotards. Although I did not find what I was looking for I was very pleased with my brief experience here. I walked into the store about 20 minutes before closing, and was greeted by the owner who was also on the phone giving someone directions to her store. Once the phone call was done I had her complete attention and asked for a particular brand of ballet shoe. Unfortunately she did not carry it in her store. You would think that my experience would end there, but she was kind enough to call another dance store in the area to see if they carried it, but unfortunately they also did not. She then showed me some possible substitutes and I was so pleased at all the high quality dance brands that she did have in stock. I did leave empty-handed this time, but I will absolutely return. There was a large variety of tights, tutus & skirts that I know my girls would love. The owner spent almost an hour fitting my 13 year old daughter to make sure she had the best shoe. I love this store. I took ballet for a few years as a young kid and have decided to start it up again. I walked into the store and I told them I was just beginning ballet again, and right away they started trying different flats on me. All of the ladies working there are very nice and knowledgable on how things should fit. The selection for leotards isn't huge but it's enough that I found several I liked and the choosing process wasn't overwhelming. All the leotards are very nice quality material and flexible to move around in. The staff is very friendly and patient when it comes to answering questions. They all made polite conversation and gave me some advice about the class and wished me good luck. I would definitely recommend going here for those who are just beginning, this small and well staffed store is great for making sure that you have everything you need and that your questions are answered. read more

humm sounds like Jenifer W. might be sabotaging Dance Threadz with her advertisement for another dance wear supplier. I have an issue with that. The purpose of this review is to share information about Dance Threadz as a store not give others another option to shop first. I have always had excellent service in Dance Threadz since it open years ago. It is very difficult to give customer service to (what did you say) 3 people in the store as we all know purchasing point shoes is a long process. In this economy (especially a small business) cannot afford to hire people to stand around hoping three customers will all show up at once. That rarely happens! I'm sorry for those that did not get service when the store was slow, I cannot answer to that, however my experiences have always been favorable. I'm all about supporting small business, because I know how hard it is to run your own! Give sound advise..don't advertise for other stores! Not cool..... Although, I must admit I have not been in the store in a while, it's sad to hear there are young girls that are not interested in customer servcie! I'm sure the owner hires these girls because there is not enough profit to pay anyone more knowledgeable. I think the owner is going to have to find a solution to the problem to help her with the reviews she is receiving. read more

Some of the people who work there are very self-centered and don't seem to care about the customers. I was there today and mentioned that my daughter's dance school allows leotards with attached skirt only. One of the girls told me that we should get separates because it looks the same. Why in the world would we do that if the school has a dress code? The owner was busy waiting on customers and the two "girls" at the register were too busy chatting to really help us. I felt as though my questions and search for sizes for a petite 6 year old were an imposition. Brunette with dark tan was extremely condescending. There is a nice young lady who was working alone early in the week, she probably won't last there. Will not be shopping here again. As we walked to the car, my child said that the lady at the other place (Paradise Dancewear on Brookhurst) is always so nice and asked, why don't we just go back there?? read more
