Sorry to say this is the worse Dance Studio to bring your child to! They favor families and made my…read moredaughter feel left out ! This was recommended to me. I expected my daughter to get the professional attention she deserves. However, the teachers worked with students that have been there for a long time. Over all the ballet techniques are not up to par. The recitals are on Memorial Day Weekend which is not cool. The parking is horrific. If you decide to park on Lake Ave be very careful as there are many blind spots. There floors are not good for jumps or leaps and can hurt the kids. She has since joined a new Studio where she was welcome with opened arms. The teachers are incredible with taking the time to actually teach a new student and the other students were excited to help. Remember it's not about the finances or politics it's about your child enjoying and learning at the same time. We found our home. Signed, Relieved to be gone !!!!!

I like this studio better than the one in St James. Besides being closer to where we live, parking…read moreis not as big a problem. My daughter has been coming to this studio for several years now. They offer a variety of dance programs...and the year ending recital, held at the Patchogue Theater, is very well produced. The classes here tend to be smaller in size compared to the ones over at their other studio in St James. I can only guess, that is due to the greater number of dance schools in the Smithtown area. There are two class rooms, both with one directional glass, so parents can peek in and watch their children without being a distraction. The waiting area is not particularly large and can get a bit crowded, especially around the time classes end and another is about to begin. Another nicety of this location is it's proximity to several food establishments. There is a deli, pizza, chinese food. Quite often my wife will pick up a pizza for dinner on her way back there.

I've learned a lot with the weekly classes and have made life lasting friendships within the dance community. The socials are a great way to practice what you've learned in class. I definitely recommend Salsa Sensation!

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A REVIEW OF THE INITIAL SALSA BEGINNGERS CLASS AND MY REVIEW MAY CHANGE AS I…read moreCONTINUE ON. The staff was nice and welcoming. There is ample parking in the front and rear of the building, two bathrooms, hand sanitizer, and I believe they sell drinks. When you arrive, you check into the desk, sit and wait. Once the class begins you simply get up and begin. In the first class my wife and I took, the instructor was absent and we had someone fill in. The last class went over so we began 15mins late or so, which they made up having us stay later. We started learning the first basic steps "fighter" position and basic, etc for around 30mins. Then after a short break, they separated all of the men, had us all flip the footing, and we didn't have too much time for muscle memory to readjust. So they taught everyone the female position, and the men had to quickly adjust. Just be ready for it. And after that, they let us rejoin any parters we came with for a few minutes, and then had us rotate for the rest of the class to different partners as they played the music to what we learned. For someone who has never taken a dance class before, I was taken aback by the quick change of footing for the men after learning the other position for 30mins. It may be the way this is taught, but for me, and it looked like others, my muscle memory was fighting with me when I tried to flip it. As for the rotating of partners, my wife and I went in believing we would be learning together. and didn't know we'd be dancing with other partners. For the first few minutes before making us rotate when they allowed us to dance with the partners we came in with, my wife and I were very comfortable, enjoying it, and finding a synch that we so naturally have when learning. When we were made to rotate a few mins later and switch partners, it threw both of us off and when we got home we had to try and remember and go over it together since we didn't really get much of a chance together in the class. I would say that even though they have special "couple" rates, It's not an environment for couples to learn together so much as you will learn at the same time and level. I feel this is important for couples to know since we signed up believing we would be able to dance together as we learn. It seems to be designed for singles and individuals as they will definitely never have to worry about having a dance partner. All in all, it was definitely an immersive class for a first timer, with alot covered. The switching of footing for men threw me off a bit and felt like the first 30mins that were only for the men to get used to the style of movement and not the actual footing. The teachers were nice and energized, the environment was welcoming and everyone there and attending the classes was very nice. The only negative for me is that couples will not get much time learning and dancing together. So if you're looking for that, you might want another type of school or private lessons. I don't know. But my wife and I are continuing and my review may change, though I feel that more of the positive will be on their ability to teach us the technical aspects of Salsa so we can dance together at home. And a last note that the class was so packed with people that it was hard not to bump into others. We were wall to wall packed with very little space between us all.

Keeping in mind how tough it is to wrangle a roomful of tots, the dance instructor was impressive in her focus and engagement, laying the foundation of a classic ballet experience. Music included some of the childhood classic tunes we all know by heart, as well as classical piano standards and even a lovely instrumental version of "Here Comes the Sun." Even when a few of the children began to become distracted, our instructor managed to ramp up the interest level with ribbons and participatory exercises. Getting just one kid to pay attention is a big enough challenge, so I was in awe to see what a pro could do. Immediately, we felt like we had been welcomed into a little community. All the staff members we encountered were friendly and helpful, which I especially appreciate in such a chaotic situation as a herd of families arriving and a little bewildered. My only wish is that the space were larger, but otherwise this is a wonderful neighborhood dance school. Well done!

I've been extremely pleased with both the adult and the children's classes/programs. My three year old has loads of fun in her afterschool program with ballet, tap and hip hop. I enjoy adult ballet and modern. I've only been in classes a few months but I've improved tremendously due to the supportive friendly environment. No more knee pain! Adult classes are truly a bargain taught by current and former professionals, the owner Lakey was with Alvin Ailey. You get a ton of personal attention and the routines are modified to your abilities.
