Left early from work to catch part of my daughters ballet class. She has been going to the Chorus…read moreLine studio in Smithtown for years, but the ballet class at this location sit the schedule. The parking area for this location is smaller than the Smithtown location and on days where they have observation performance I can see it become very chaotic very quick. This was a regular lesson night and I was lucky enough to get the last open spot. The lobby is very narrow, with seats lining the walls for parents to wait for their children to finish class. The classes are held in two rooms, one on the 1st floor and another larger room upstairs. The room downstairs has a small window where curious parents can peek in watch their child dance. The room upstairs has a video camera set up and the lesson is displayed on a large flat screen TV in the lobby. My wife usually takes her to class...so I don't usually get to see what it's like...but it was mad house. My advice...sit in your car and wait.

My daughter felt judged there, she would do a leap and the other girls would look at her weirdly and stare at her. My daughter then went somewhere else and loved it! The recital is way too long and the prep and nonsense for the recital is ridiculous they expect me to pull my daughter out of school so I could bring her to the dress rehearsal. They are way too expensive and I have to work extra hours to pay for one dance class! As the only parent in the house hold it was not my favorite place either. So happy we switched!

Being that the studio was 20 minutes from my house I was hesitant to make the commitment. We decided to try it out for the year and see how it went... Now, 9 years later, I have to say it was the BEST decision I've ever made for my daughter. My daughter has learned so much more than just how to dance. She has learned about hard work, commitment, setting goals and doing what it takes to reach them. We have made friendships that will last a lifetime, as everyone at the studio has become a second family. To make it even better, the new studio is AMAZING!

We performed there on 8/30/25. We are the Soul Jam Revue. The venue is full of that same charm that was there back in the 60's, 70's and on. I walked around taking in the movie shadows boxes (micky mouse) and this brought back so many memories! The seating there is all brand new, comfortable and spacious! I highly recommend getting there for a show in the future. I can't wait to see when they put up the new marquee!

So finally , the big day came, I put on my blue shirt, my black shoes and attended Newsies!! It was FANTASTIC!! GREAT SHOW! Great Dancing and singing moves. Such great talent! Over the years we've seen some incredible performances over the year, from Vic DiBitetto - Tara Cannistraci, Christmas performances to various concerts. Did I mention free parking? I mean, you have free parking at Westbury Music fare but its a nightmare once the concert is over. At The Staller Center, everyone leaves in an orderly fashion, there's no rushing after you leave the performance. Hey, we're polite in Stony Brook! The Staller Center has a very nice seating arrangement. The seats are positioned where you aren't contorting to the side if a giant sits in front of you. The acoustics for the theatre are also of high quality, I heard iLUMINATE rock this theatre with their amazing sound! We're all proud of our town and The Staller Center for the Arts is the crown jewel of the neighborhood.

Now..... let me explain how amazing..... we did a 5 minute.....yes!!....!!!... FULL 5 minute choreographed dance to our wedding song. It took twice a week for a full 6 months. They came to the venue multiple times weeks before. I can't even explain how unbelievable Giny and her crew were. I mean they committed and we committed and it was truly amazing!! THANK YOU!!

Next time I think I would like to sit in that section. It's a little smaller, less seats and closer to the stage than where we sat. The play we saw was called, Half Time. It was a true story about older people who auditioned for the half time show for a basketball game. It was funny, entertaining and sad all at the same time. The actors did an amazing job. As far as the singing, some were better than others, but I think part of the problem was, some of the microphones were not as loud as others. It was still really awesome, and made the reality of getting older sobering and funny at the same time. I am not sure how long this show is running, but if it is still at this theater, you should go see it. I was able to only sneak two photos, since we weren't allowed to take pictures. I would go back to see other shows here. It's a great theater located in the great town of Port Jefferson!
