My daughter had to miss the recital because she was ill and it took months to get her costume. Every time I called, I was told that the owner would call me back. This didn't happen, so I decided to send email so that I had proof. I just wanted a costume that I paid over $100 for! When the owner finally contaxted me, I was told that everything from the recital was still in a trailer or attic and they needed to go through it. Hmmmm ok. It took MONTHS before they finally had the costume for me. So ridiculous. I should also mention that the Puyallup location I so gross! Dirty facility. Parents let their babies and toddlers run all over the place and leave trash. I couldn't believe it. No one asks them to be polite and stop talking inappropriately and loudly. It smells like dirty diapers. "Regulars" are dropped off and treat the facility like a dumpster. Yuck. Classes always started late as well.

The positive reviews must be from people who haven't been there long or something. My daughter danced there for 4 years and she loved it except for the last year and a half, which luckily was Covid so she had an easy way out. She was tired of being bullied and yelled at by coaches the owner. If you think I'm kidding, read the reviews below. This is not how our children should be treated. In addition to the unorganization, the "business model" is brilliant, for the owners, not the customer. They get your credit card and charge away. there's no possible way to track all the fees and charges and I believe it's that way by design. Just a complete mess. Stay away!!

Where do I even begin?…read more This place my second home. I feel safe. I feel loved. I feel happy. I feel beautiful. I have been dancing since I was 6, and this dance studio has changed my life for the better. You will never ( and I mean NEVER ) see a studio that is as neat and clean as The Dance Academy. The floors are swept, and vacuumed every night. Every mirror and window is sparkly clean by the time the doors are locked at the end of the night. The couple who owns the studio are two of the most dedicated people I have ever met. They are always accommodating people's needs and making sure every dancer and their family is happy and feels cared for at the end of the day. It's little things like letting the smaller children ( or in some occasions, us older dancers ) have a piece of candy at the end of the day, or rewarding them with a prize from the prize box for good behavior in class or acing a new skill. They are always open to new ideas and appreciate all levels of creativity. The wife is a dance teacher and is ALWAYS so kind hearted and comes up with beautiful choreography that send lovely messages and leave the audience in tear from time to time. The husband is fantastic about making sure everything is "ship shape", from fixing ballet barres, to organizing tangled cords, and building INSANE props for our dances, and even giving out popsicles after rehearsal on hot summer days. He is always happy and has a smile on his face. Their children dance at the studio as well, and they are fabulous. All three girls are so kind and respectful and make classes a blast to be in. The staff is phenomenal. Every single one of them has their own style, and put passion into every second they teach. They all truly care about the dancers, not just their paychecks. They are all organized and have the perfect balance of fun, and discipline. Their brains are packed full of knowledge, and though they are all young, they are so wise, and have answers to every question. Our dancers are always respectful to each other, teachers, and all guests. At competitions, we have gotten sportsmanship awards several times because we play fair, and support not only each other, but even our competitors - everyone! The best thing about The Dance Academy is the atmosphere created by each of these things. There is no other studio like this one. Personally, I have come to realize my dance friends are my true best friends, I can depend in them for anything, because that's the way we've been taught here. We all share a passion to dance and it's beautiful. We are one big family, and the studio is the reason we are so close. Thanks to The Dance Academy for forming my live for the art, I am planning to go off to Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA to study dance and choreography and maybe one day open my own studio! There's no place on earth like it, and I am blessed to have such a place to call home.

I greatly appreciate Shari's kind but firm leadership and the fact that she brings me in every step of the way. I'm enabled to be a partner in my daughter's dance journey, rather than just the wallet. Along with beautiful dance technique, my daughter is learning poise, manners, good sportsmanship, and how to carry herself as a serious athlete. I am thankful that both my daughter and I feel comfortable in talking with Shari and the other teachers about absolutely anything. We know our thoughts will be welcomed and addressed respectfully, without fear of consequence. The studio is always clean and is a welcoming environment to dancers, parents, and siblings. Most nights my daughter asks to stay long after her classes have ended because she feels so at home and has built strong friendships. In addition to the High Impact Team, we love the recitals and extra performance opportunities. It is only April and my daughter is already counting down to Victorian Country Christmas because she had so much fun dancing in the shows there. We are proud to be apart of The Dance Academy of Puyallup. It's a great home for any dancer!

I've been attending classes with Lena and Heidi for nearly a year. I've tried several other…read moreclasses in the area and this one stands out for a number of reasons. Their mix of music is about 60/40 between familiar upbeat songs from dance/hiphop on the radio and latin songs that are newer to me. As a new student I found that their routines were easy to get into, and now I still find small things I can improve to follow them better or to increase the challenge/exercise/fun. They introduce new songs fairly regularly so things stay fresh while you still get to revisit old favorites. They take class input on the song mix: if there's a specific song you want that night you can speak up and there's a good chance it will be included. The environment is very supportive..you look around in between songs and everyone is smiling and friendly. They also find a way to involve the more experienced students in the class by having them come up and help lead on certain songs. They celebrate class achievements in meeting fitness goals and feature students on their FB page. Lately they've begun to incorporate some light/toning weights into a featured song most classes, which is a nice change of pace. A couple months back we had an eighties themed zumba party to raise money for ALS that was a lot of fun. It sounds like more themed nights are planned. These are all things that make this class great. I have a blast every time I go. And I get an awesome workout. What takes it to the next level for me are three key things: (1) Childcare. EVERY class they teach has childcare available in the kidzone at the gym. It works out to something like $1.50-$2 per child per class. This is very unusal in the area, especially for evening classes. My kids have a great time in the kidzone. While there's a tv in there, my kids usually spend their time playing with the other kids...many nights they have friendly dance contests with them. They look forward to going. It's like a playdate for them. (2) Price. Classes are free for gym members. Mt Si Sports n Fitness is already a very good bargain as a gym. If I took these classes as part of a punch card program similar to those offered at other gyms in the area I'd pay ~ $5/class. I attend ~10 classes/month and I pay less than $50/month for my gym membership. And I can use all the rest of the gym facilities, showers, other free-to-members classes (there are several). It's an amazing value. (3) Proximity. Of course this won't be true for everyone, but this is 5 minutes away for me. There are other classes in the area just as close, but not with all the features that this one has. If I had to drive 45 min roundtrip to a class you could chalk up another $4-5 in gas I would be paying for each class, and that's if I could make it given the rest of my schedule. I coached my kids soccer teams this past year and I could make it back from soccer practice in time to attend classes. The only thing I think might put potential students off is that the evening classes can be pretty crowded, especially Monday and Wednesday nights. I've never seen anyone turned away, but you should get there 5-10 minutes early to get yourself a spot where you can see the instructors.

I thought our original Arthur Murray was expensive as after the initial new student specials, the prices were significantly more than other studios. Of course by then we were committed as my husband loved our instructor and the other students. Each studio has been progressively more expensive. This studio is 25% more than the base price we paid across the country (and no, rents aren't that different). The sale price here is significantly more than the sale prices there (to be fair, at least this studio does sales- our second one did not). The staff here is very talented (though they do have a few newer instructors that are definitely still learning). The students are nice as well though the overall vibe is less friendly/open than our first studio where it honestly felt like a family. Here, the shared bond is dance and you won't learn much about the staff beyond that. This isn't a bad thing, just different. Over all, if you choose ballroom dancing as a hobby, this is definitely one of the best places to do it. Just... know its going to be a very expensive hobby.

They had no theater, singing or acting experience. I was honestly blown away after 2 weeks of prep, they were signing in front of a packed house and loving every minute of it. It honestly brought tears to my eyes seeing my shy kids flourishing on stage. They have continued to want to be in every production since! They have found great comradery with other kids who really enjoy theater and love their teacher, Ms. Candace. They come out of every practice with a smile in a good mood. They just completed The Music Man Jr and are ready for the next one. I love that each production includes every student in the cast. I appreciate the teaching of stage presence and makeup and costumes. My oldest loves making her costumes for her sister and herself. I highly recommend CDT for theater. When I moved to the Issaquah area in 1978, I was lucky to find the Village Theater, first in an old movie theater then in the state-of-the-art Francis J. Gaudette Theater (beginning in 1979). Would you like to escape the news and events of today? I did. And last night for two and a half glorious hours, through the magic of the Village Theater (Issaquah and Everett WA), I was transported back to the year I graduated from high school (in NY), 1959. The cast has wonderful actors, singers and dancers. The set is primarily a high school gym from that era. An unbilled star of the show is Greased Lightning, the car. The music is timeless. The band is typical of the bands of that time: guitars, bass, saxophone, drums. Do yourself a favor and go.
