I don't recommend studio 6 ballroom. The instructor was consistently late to many of my private lessons. I caught her talking bad about me to her employee, Alex and then walk away. That was very unprofessional. Her employee was giving me dirty looks which was very rude and made me feel very uncomfortable. She never really changed or improved. I would recommend a different ballroom like Tacoma dance studio Auburn Pacific ballroom. read more

This is the only place I was able to find that provides a wide range of ballroom classes. Natasha, the owner, is welcoming, friendly and easy to follow. I especially enjoy, samba, salsa and bachata. Natasha announces local events, concerts, live music and organized a group from class to attend these events so we can practice what we learn in class. My fiancé and I decided to take dance lessons so that our first dance in front of everyone at the wedding isn't too embarrassing. My fiancé searched dance instructors in our area and found Studio 6 with convenient availability the weekend he was visiting. Parking can be a little difficult in this area in Tacoma, but after we made it into the studio it was as if we were transformed to another time and place. The studio opens into a huge low lit ballroom with high ceilings, a wall of mirrors, and bistro tables and cushioned seating. In fact, as we explored the studio we admired the many different nooks of comfortable intimate seating they had created while still maintaining the glamour of the large ballroom. Natasha was so easy to work with. Both my fiancé and I are pretty introverted and can even be a little off putting when thrown into situations where we're uncomfortable or think we might make fools of ourselves... ahem.. dancing. Natasha made us both feel at ease immediately. I was really surprised to see my fiancé laughing and joking the way he does when it's just us, he usually has a very strict "stranger danger" attitude he adapts and maintains a reserved demeanor when others are around. Instead, under Natasha's guidance he actually enjoyed himself and I was so impressed to see how she encouraged his confidence in leading. He ended up being really natural at it. In our two meetings, Natasha covered basic steps, twirls, lifts, and choreography for our first dance song. She was patient, adaptable, and an excellent leader. This is a great, small, locally owned business that offers primarily ballroom dancing(lots of latin and swing), with a smattering of exercise classes. Natasha, the owner, is really amazing - a talented dancer and teacher who sparkles with energy and friendliness. She makes you feel at home right away, chasing away your jitters with a smile. The Zumba class is excellent. Some teachers slant more towards aerobic, some to more dance-y. Morghan, the instructor at Studio 6, is a really excellent balance. Zumba veterans will be engaged, the choreopraphy is a little more advanced. I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Studio 6 Ballroom. With our wedding rapidly approaching, my fiancé and I were looking for a crash course-type lesson; some baseline moves to turn to and hopefully avoid looking like we're at a middle school dance. Wes, our instructor, was enthusiastic, patient, and so, SO helpful. Wes also provided a lesson to my father and I, and thoughtfully crafted a dance "template" for us to use during our father/daughter dance at the wedding. It is very rare when you find a place of business that makes you feel like it is your home. I have found this here. Coach Natasha has a great way of making you feel comfortable and makes you not want to leave. This is the best place I have been in for dancing. It is a comfortable atmosphere and great for open dancing as well as group classes. I really enjoy taking classes here. I learn something new every time I come in. I can't say how much I love this studio! I'm not a person to write reviews but this place is truly something special. When I first stepped into the studio, I was so nervous, but Wes and Natasha welcomed me with warm smiles and lots of encouragement! I started with just a single class, got hooked and now I take private lessons, and signed up for the unlimited package and started to compete! I have learned so much from both Wes and Natasha! They are amazing instructors with lots of knowledge and take great care in teaching it to their students! It's not just the dancing that makes this studio great though, it's the inviting, friendly atmosphere that has been created to make everyone feel welcome. They are very patient, know the dances, and neve condescending. Even though it is hard for me to comprehend the steps because of my O.C.D. they never give up on me. They offer a relaxed atmosphere that sets them apart from other dance studios. They also hold events and field trips for their students. Beautiful studio. It's like a little piece of paradise--that I never knew was just 10 minutes away. I live in Tacoma, but play in Seattle. This means I would drive 40 minutes just to take dance classes and go Salsa dancing. I've always wanted to be consistent with salsa dancing and learn more ballroom dances, but didn't want to drive up everyday. Now that I know about Studio 6 Ballroom, I might just make my dreams of becoming a salsa dancing champion a reality sooner than later. I went here for a Zumba class with Morghan (who teaches Zumba on Mondays at 6, Tuesday and Thursdays at 5:30, GREAT RATE). It was fun! After gettin' my sweat on, I met the owner, Natasha. Like the other review, she really is warm and pleasant. She told me where the restrooms were and mentioned that there was coffee and water--definitely made me feel at home. Apparently, the studio had another room upstairs. I thought the space was great already. But another dance floor was just icing on the cake. We don't dance. Period...Until Natasha met us and had us come in. I was thoroughly impressed by the professionalism, warm atmosphere, and results! I run 2 businesses and tend to be short on free time so finding a fun activity that is worth the time investment is hard for me but I have to say dance is something that not only lets you meet many people but allows you to travel and compete which I have done in Vancouver Canada etc dance is one of those activities that requires plenty of practice and can seem very difficult but both Wes and Natasha help make these transitions much easier they have always taken the time to help me even with my crazy schedule as well as even finding ways to make you laugh in the process so that you forget all those mistakes you made lol. read more

I started going to Studio 6 Ballroom approximately 2 months ago. My idea was that I would find a fun way to exercise. After spending a week there, I found a new home with new friends. Natasha and Wes are amazing instructors with very open minds. They work well with all skill levels and help you progress in your dancing if that is what you want. They also host several social nights. Friday night salsa is a really good date night for a couple or if you are single, there are a ton of single men and women who come to dance...yes, men will actually dance and most of them are even straight! Studio 6 Ballroom is great! My husband and I were both a bit nervous about learning to dance, both feeling a bit awkward on our feet. But after some group and private lessons with Natasha Thayer, we were out there and enjoying dancing salsa! Probably the least intimidating place to learn dancing in Western Washington, Studio 6 has a friendly atmosphere with an expectation of courtesy and respect among its dancers. Ignore Linda R's review of studio 6! I looked at Linda R's review of other business and each and every one is in the same vein as what she yelped about for Studio 6! All of her previous yelps are incredibly long malevolent screeds which come off as if posted by a vindictive "negative Nelly" and insecure prima donna! No one should take such biased opinions as Linda R's with any amount of seriousness! So if you are even the least bit curious about learning how to dance in a welcoming, supportive, encouraging, warm and friendly non-judge mental environment, then studio 6 is the place for you! I have only completed one class here but my experience was absolutely positive in every respect! (as an aside, prices for Natasha's classes are very, very reasonable!) Natasha and her staff (Wes and Madison) are the most friendly and helpful that you could ever imagine and have for dance teachers! I truly can't say enough positive things about Natasha, her staff and her studio! I started with no dance skills what-so-ever but with Natasha's tutelage I can now hold my own on the dance floor and feel confident in my new dance skills! And no price can ever be put on that!
