When he mentioned the discrepancy, instead of correcting their mistake and apologizing, they got offended and lectured him about "how to speak to an elder." So when i came back from the store after purchasing $80 worth items from them, there's this lady (staff or owner) who complained to me for parking in reserved spot for the store. I totally got it that she must have misunderstood so answered her politely that i actually purchased from the store and showed her my bags and bill. She continued whining in Hindi although I told her multiple times that I dont speak Hindi. Then she started the arguement that i must leave in 15 -20 mins, even though i told her it took like 25 mins at the max. Wow, They want us to shop at their store, wait in a long queue and get their bill done. Are they expecting us to leave the queue and cart and rush to their reserved customer spot? then she talked to me with the same tone, how frustrated for her to see people misusing the spot. When i suggested her to tell them, she said that she cant tell this to pregnant women who block to the spot and wait for their child to return from kumon. tats nice. However Isnt it funny that they let the people who are misusing it and yell at actual customers? If she didn't wish to apologize me for her mistake yelling at me, a simple thumbs up will do after listening to my explanation that I didn't violate. I would ve definitely smiled at her and left... if that happened....But she didn't. She stretched the argument in front of everybody and degraded my self respect. Which I wouldn't take it. read more

Family owned small Indian grocery store. I started going here once COVID started. Was impressed how they maintained social distancing and provided basic gloves and hand sanitizers for the customers. This sore is located in the complex at Parmer and Avery Ranch intersection, next to Orange Theory. Usually you'll find all the basics here. Staff is helpful. Produce is fresh. The only thing I have observed is the prices are a bit higher than the other store which I usually go. But love that they have a delivery as well as curbside pick with ease of ordering online and the website and pretty decent which I have not found for other Indian grocery stores. They even sell fresh roti's, snack like samosa and dhokla's . And sometimes you'll even find few plants like holy basil (Tulsi ) and curry leaves (sweet neem). Dana Bazar is the closest one to my home( Indian stores), but I usually used to go to Manpasand as there you have more options and as more people go there, usually they have more fresh or recent ones. But post Covid, I m shopping only in Dana Bazar, as there store is more clean, especially post corona they keep it everything neat and clean all the time compared to Manpasand and you get everything too, Indian groceries! But if you're new to Indian stores, whichever Indian store you go, always check the date of manufacturing and expiration dates especially the masala powders, bottled sauces, pickles, snacks those stuff. read more

The worst store with worst customer service with extremely arrogant behavior. We were there for shopping as usual for Diwali sale . There was no were written that only one sale item per family .We just came to that store from other indian store and we got our items as we wanted some were single and some were more than 1. Same with this store also we put items in our cart as we think will need over a period of next few months So some items were more than 1 since no where written in store or any of there flyer. Of course none of the items were in quantity in huge bulk as it was for single family use only.At check out in front of other customers owner said in extremely rude tone that you should know that it is one item per family even though no where mentioned and 30 minutes back we had shopped at other Indian store without any issues.I am sure all of you must buying sale item for single family as required which could be more than 1. We don't have any problem if it has been clearly mentioned on top of that the owner has audacity to tell my wife that don't come over here for any sale item. I want to ask that person. How would you know that I had bought everything that is in sale. So that means we are not supposed to go to that store to buy other item also which is on sale which we did not bought of that day. The reason we went to that store because we felt like it is the store from our community person and we should support the business from our community. Now I'm going to make sure that all my colleagues my friends my family are big community group knows about this store and their attitude to make sure that they also don't step into this store.. the owner should know that there are now more than 50 Indian store in the austin Round Rock area. will not be surprised with this attitude. This store will be closed sooner or later. I had seen several stores being getting closed because of arrogant and rude behavior of owners specially with lots of options available. One sentence. Take your business someplace else if you want to save money and actually be treated with respect. I've been to Dana baazar at least half a dozen times because we wanted to give them a chance but consistently this store has fallen short. Here are some reasons why going to literally any other store will be better. 1) no refund or store credit allowed for anything. even for Spices that are unopened and no receipt. 2) they are extremely unprofessional and downright rude to customers and workers. I have experienced this myself and more importantly I have seen the managers yell at the people unboxing the items. I can't support a business that is treating people with such disdain and disrespect consistently. 3) expensive and low quality food and produce. Very rarely do they have the right item in the right place. This place is disorganized and instead of helping the people beyond the counter offer other (much more expensive) items as alternatives. They also consistently charge wrong (higher) amount for the item and we have to correct them. Normally that's fine but when I go to different grocery stores in Austin, I can get what I want at a great prices and with some decency. 4) I saw cockroach and cobwebs around the spices and chutneys. The level of unsanitary is really concerning. Tl;dr - the managers are rude and yell while selling low quality expensive items. When asked for store credit or exchanged items they make random excuses and blame the customer. Save yourself time and money and go some place else. read more

I used to like this Indian grocery store though prices were and are always higher than more popular Indian stores nearby. Recently, they installed new aisles in their store making them extremely narrow, this makes shopping in this place very difficult, while you stop for a moment to add items to your cart or compare them people are lining up behind you. Some customers will wait for you and others just don't care about Covid protocols or physical distancing, they just want to squeeze by you . During my visit today almost everyone in the store was wearing mask except store owner! Overall, during these times, the new store arrangement makes everything congested and store owners don't care about health and safety of their customers. I tried their online shopping for the first time and had a very good experience. Their customer service is great, quick delivery, prompt reply to queries and most importantly prices are very reasonable and affordable. There were some substitutions and some out of stock items. This place has the worst customer service that I have encountered. They advertise delivery and keep changing the conditions on customers as it suits their fancy. I was ok with that for multiple months attributing it to Covid related logistics and ability to staff adequately. Yesterday was the limit. I had a 65$ online order. The goal was to get the groceries delivered as we were driving in from a long road trip and be able to have food for the kids once we get home. The previously published and communicated delivery limit was $50. I get a call from the store early in the day - talking about multiple items being substituted, etc etc (this is common practice that things on the website are not usually available and they have to substitute).. and then saying - the limit for delivery is $70. On asking - when did that change- they say, no one knows,, everyone in the store is new . Since I was driving on our road trip, I decide to let that go and say add $5 worth of items and offer to give them my credit card number for the purchase (which they should already have). They say no ,,they need me to do an online order for $5 while I am driving. Mind you ,, this is a store where I order from EVERY week upwards of $200 of merchandise. When I say that I cannot do an online order anytime soon since I am driving, they say- leave the $5 under the mat. I ask for a time for the delivery and they say they cannot predict. They show up at my door when I am still 150 miles away and then take the groceries away - all because there was no $5 under the mat. My assurances that I will call and give them the card number at the store or will drop off the payment early the next morning was met with rude comments on how I need to pay first- for a limit that was changed arbitrarily on me. Of course each person that spoke with me was unprofessional, had no empowerment to make a decision and refused to see that a loyal customer is not worth losing for $5. Excellent shop managed by a really nice family, good stock of fresh produce always. I am a regular customer there but due to Coronavirus didn't step out for more than 23days. Yesterday, went to get some basic essentials and was happy to see that they provide gloves, wipes to protect ourselves, and only 5 people were allowed inside at one time to shop. People were maintaining safe distance and were in and out in a jiffy. They also have a curb side delivery which was also being taken care of v quickly. The owners and staff were so friendly, helpful and smiling. Kudos to them for helping people and society during such pressing times. Pray that everyone remains safe. read more
