This is a lovely campground. Clean, well laid out, a lot of thought and active maintenance goes behind this place. Evidence in this respect is to be seen everywhere. Wanna see an example? The restrooms stand is the best example of this respect. The restaurants are clean and well appointed. Two shower curtains are in the shower stall with a sit down stool for the shower and I'll sit down or posted area for the sit down area in the into shower. Nice touch. Clean, operated washers and dryers are available in both the men's in the ladies room and you can use your cell phone and a smart phone app to pay for services. Nice touch. We note some derogatory comments about the attitude of the owners, but in our experience, nothing could be further from the truth. Put yourself in their position watching a wide range of RV travelers coming in and out all day long. If you do, so, you can imagine they'll see some excellent visitors, many, run-of-the-mill visitors, and some are to put it in nicely less than desirable. They see it all in our experience. A little engagement on some humor goes along way, and we found them to be delightful. Go in the joy. This is a nice campground with clean well appointed facilities. Go and enjoy. Note: our Garman GPS did not take us to the right spot or the right entrance. We ended up on the opposite side of the Dan river at a private residence. Completely honest Review, no exaggerations. Let's start with the positive things. The campground is tucked in the woods and is a very nice, quiet, beautifully kept campground. There are nice trails to walk & take our dogs walking. Right by the Dan River. The bathrooms are kept very clean. The camp host Bill is very nice & does a great job keeping the place kept. The WiFi was very good for us. They fill propane for you which is a nice convenience but if you go in town to the tractor supply, it will cost half the price. The not so positive things. The trails can get very muddy if it rains. Some of the sites also flood if it rains. There are 2 washers & 2 dryers that are in the bathrooms. The camp sites are too close for our comfort. If I can hear everything your saying & can see what your eating at your picnic table, it's too close. There is only one dumpster for the whole campground. Some people have to walk pretty far to get to it. They say they are dog friendly, yet there are no poop stations & no dog run area. There is A LOT of unused grassy areas in this campground. Complete waste of space. There's a small pool, but it wasn't open when we were there. Now for the negative things. It's not open for daily or weekly rentals in the fall & winter. Since the owners don't do river adventures, the access to the river is a joke, pretty inaccessible. In their defense, it looks like they're working on digging it out from previous flooding. The "fu€king owner" (that is how he referred to himself when speaking to us) is a non social, belligerent, tool bag. We had 3 incidents while we were here. One we take full responsibility, the other 2 are up for interpretation. The incidences were pretty minor in our opinion & he could have just talked to us in a calm manner instead of berating and trying to belittle us. The way he spoke to us & our guest, plus the language he used was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. While we were here there were 2 work campers that left because of the language he used and what he said, and I quote "this makes me so fu€king mad and makes me want to kill somebody". He rides around in his creeper van and instead of interacting pleasantly with people, he is just looking for people doing something wrong. We have been full-timing for 3 1/2 years and have been all over the country. We have NEVER had an experience like this, nothing even close. This place has a lot of potential but it needs new owners or the owner needs to change everything about himself and how he runs and handles things. We will NEVER come back here! Such a shame and shame on the owner! *Update: As we were leaving they started work on a dog lot, not a dog park, a dog lot approximately 12x30. Make sure you read their 50 page rule book before arriving and make sure you sign in blood if I made a list out of all the thousands of campgrounds in the United States this would be an easy choice for the last one on it. A Walmart in Arkansas parking lot would be a five-star resort compared to this place. read more

Lovely place! For solar- Mostly shaded when not winter. All sites immaculate, there is someone to help you all the time, and can accommodate most big rigs well. Beautiful surroundings tho-have lived 20 miles away for 20 years & never knew they were there. read more

I found a new regular camping spot whether I am in a tent or an RV Dan River Campground is the spot. The owners are very friendly and offer many Dan River activities including taking you up to a drop off with tubes, kayaks, canoes...ect to allow you to have a nice ~2hr float back to the campground. The campground is clean and the RV sites are level and large. Each site has a fire pit. They offer many activities such as volleyball, horseshoes, ping pong, and many others. Our kids had plenty of fun playing in the Dan River which is a short walk from all of the sites. The bathrooms are clean and the camp host is also very friendly even loaning us fishing rods to use during our stay. read more

Beautiful, quiet, clean place. Clean Bath-house with washer & dryer's. Pool is a beautiful in ground doughboy, clean and much needed with the humidity. Play area for the kids. We absolutely LOVE this camp ground!! If you want peace and quiet, sounds of nature this is the place! No loud music is allowed (which is nice) Beautiful kept lawns, clean bathrooms, crystal clear pool and if you are tubing or kayaking.. they can help you with that too (just make sure to make reservations in advanced (they fill up quick). We brought our own canoe and kayak, they took us up the the Lindsey Bridge and we floated right back to the camp ground and walked out stuff up about 100 yards. The office staff is awesome as well. The young lady working there does the best she can and she is a delight! Talked with the owners wife a couple of times and she is a delight as well. We WILL be back!! read more

This used to be one of my favorite places to come. But now the bath houses are not as clean there was dirt in the floor and a spider in the shower stall. The pond is unfishable and not suitable for children to fish. The female host is more concerned with socializing, then helping out. A trashcan near my site was full of a bag of food and had a horrendous odor the whole time I was there. read more

Update: The campground has new owners and lots of renovations going on. Nick and Ann are the new owners and have a whole new outlook and attitude that is bringing life back into the campground for campers and visitors. This is a hidden gem that should be given a chance. read more

I have been here 4 months and have one week left. I have seen lots of folks come and go. The campground is well maintained. There are well maintained trails along the river. The pool always looks great. Didn't use the bathrooms but I never heard any complaints. There is WiFi and it works. It is a pretty campground. The spots are pretty level and the place is kept clean. Only minus here is the spots need some fresh gravel. New owners, so may be in the plans I recommend this place. The only place I found that takes long term campers. The long term campers here are clean and well maintained. Close to a Walmart, Lowe's, autozone, etc. 40 minutes from downtown Greensboro. Commute is low traffic. read more

By far one of my favorite campgrounds to date. I have been here twice now, first time in the fall of 2016 and then a few weeks ago in April 2017. Love this place. Quiet, VERY clean and well kept. Bathroom and showers may be dated, but, they are so clean and well kept that you actually appreciate the older style. I cannot stress enough how beautiful and serene this place is. Family run campground and the family that run it are very friendly and down to earth. Will stay here every time I am in the area for sure. read more

First of all, when you think of a weekend of camping with family, friends, and your children, it should be nothing but fun and happy thoughts, after the short time we spent at this campground it was very apparent that the staff and owner were everything but that.. We have been camping for many years, and have gone with large groups, and we understand that there are rules for a reason, and we abide by them with the understanding that this is not our place and want to be respectful, but when the "hostess" comes to us within an hour of being there clearly recording us on her cell phone reminding the kids not to jump in the pool, all is fine and well we reminded our children, and went about our business 30 mins later she comes back with a gruff and hateful attitude about another child WHO WAS NOT EVEN WITH our group jumping in, she was very hateful. Once this was straightened out the owner came over around 6pm and dumps chemicals in the pool with a pool full of children and adults, the pool was open til 8 but he decided to do this at 6pm, it immediately affected the majority of us, and one of the children even ended up with chemical burn on her back from this, move forward to the next day we spent the majority of the day at the pool, the hostess came over and smiled and, said i love to hear the kids laughing and having fun it brings back a lot of good memories, and invited us to their community campfire, and thanked us for coming about 35 mins later one of the children with us tripped and slipped down the ladder of the pool falling in, the owner comes over and was VERY disrespectful and accused the kid of jumping in again, and was immature and would not even let the adults talk without yelling over us, we made a comment about how the hostess was just talking to us and everything was just fine and when she tried to speak up he smacked her arm in front of SEVERAL people basically gave us the vibe that she was not allowed to speak... he then walks away and smacks his backside with his hand at us, and proceeds to call the cops to have 3 campsites kicked out all because of the misunderstanding and the child falling in the pool, we were happy to pack up and get out of that place, with no fuss, if something this simple causes you to treat your guest the way he treated us, all i can say is I wish you the best in continuing your business, we will never come back, and word of mouth will be told about how horrible this place is, just read their reviews and how they word their rules on their website, the part about kids running free and doing whatever just so you can take a break from being a parent... i understand that rule and do not let my kids run wild, but the second half of that could have been left off... the pond is so shallow you cannot fish in it, the playset is worn out and not stable, and the pool is ok, if you are lucky enough to miss the timing of when he decides to put the chemicals in... overall they are not friendly at all, the amenities were just ok, and their number one rule was clearly NO FUN TO BE HAD....they could really take some lessons in friendlessness, and interpersonal skills.... after reading other comments and reviews i have also seen where the owner snaps back and becomes defensive, if that doesnt tell you the level of maturity of these businesses owners have i dont know what does... do not waste your money on this place if you are looking fir a family friendly atmosphere! read more

Apparently this place is not a place where you want to stay if you want to enjoy nature, go tubing, relax and enjoy time together and be a gay couple. Instead, they refuse service to you and are rude and tell you your reservation wasn't accepted. Never been here, never will. My friends were devastated by the treatment they received from the owner. Because they are a gay couple. I'm disgusted by this kind of discrimination. I wanted to camp here. Not now. I'll find somewhere else to camp and spend my money. read more

Yes the current owner has has a few odd rules but he's very nice, helpful and responsive. The park managers are amazing. I've honestly never met nicer or more helpful people. This is our last night here. We've been here for 8 months. We enjoyed the pool, the walking trails and the ping pong table but most of all the friends we've made. I love this place. It's quiet and relaxing. If you're looking to get lost in the hustle and bustle of a fast-paced computer-based campground, don't go here. But if you want to go back to what camping means, have an owner who talks and smiles and knows your name, and enjoy the reminder of when life wasn't so busy, come here!!! Great rates, roomy sites with lots of shade, a VERY clean bath house, a well-taken care of pool, a pavilion with a ping pong table and picnic tables, a volleyball net, horseshoe pits, miles of hiking trails, and he runs a business right out of the campground to float/kayak down the Dan River (of course for an additional fee). Went tubing here last week with my husband and daughter and we had a blast! The two women working were extremely friendly! Great experience!

The owner is extremely rude. He would not let me in after 8PM after driving 4.5 hours alone with my 4 kids. His AMAZING wife finally convinced him to let us in at 8:35PM. AND, to top that off, our site flooded 2 of the three nights we were there, and the last morning he sent his maintenance guy (his son) to open the grate drain that was closed the entire time. His son actually wondered aloud why we were placed on the spot that floods the most. He was so rude, he talks of it being a family place yet treated my family like dirt. We won't be returning. The other campers that return here year after year are amazing, its just unfortunate that the owner is such a miserable man. read more

Do not visit this campground. My brother and I made a reservation six weeks in advance. Read the other review about making a reservation. We experienced the same hassles. But he did allow us. I was able to talk my adult son into coming with us. When we arrived and he saw three grown men he had a fit and told us we could not camp. We are older people and not rowdy or disruptive. He finally did say we could camp if we all took a vow to not drink anything. I told him we were not drunkards or anything but did enjoy occasional beers with our meals. He said if we couldn't abstain completely we had to go. So we did. He has such a bad attitude I don't know how he stays in business read more

4 of us wanted to go camping this past weekend. we made reservations for a campsite here, and noticed that the dates for the campsite were marked off the calendar. we never received an email or phone call to let us know that our reservation had not been approved, and had never needed that at other campsites we've been to. we drive 2 hours to get there, and arrived at 10am. 2 ppl in our group went to check in and were met with a look of disgust when the manager found out we were 2 couples, and lesbians to boot. we were told only 2 adults per campsite, and tried to rent another campsite to comply with rules. he just kept saying he hadn't approved the first reservation and that this was a family campground. 2 of us have children, so had we brought them along, would that have made us approvable? very, very upset and angry at this business. don't stay here if you're not a bigot. read more

I guess my review will not be loaded with much information since I have never been too the campground. I found some information on the net, and called the number on their webpage. No one answered, and I left a message. About four hours later I received a call back, and the man said he was returning my call. I asked for some informaiton about him, and specifically how big are your tent sites. He said we do not allow more than two adults on the site. I said so if I have another group they must rent another site and he said yes. While I asked questions, he was rude, and admitted he was trying to feel me out since WE ARE A FAMILY CAMPGROUND. Over and over again he made that comment, and stated he trys to keep bad elements out, and I might be one of the poeple he is trying to keep out. I asked how he could judge who I am over the phone, and you create rules and if poeple break them during their stay you kick them out. I am curious as to what type of campground this place is, and told him not to worry I was no longer interested in renting his campground. I would think if you want some business BE POLITE when customers call. I wonder how long he has been in business and how long he will running this place like this.
