Pimento cheese croissant

The menu is great and they do a great job of selling you on the dish but the presentation is less than I expected. The view is incredible and the staff is top notch but the food needs an upscale. It was good but for this spot...which is great....the food hound be too. The shot of rye was presented superbly and was great.

This place is amazing Beautiful clean safe Our room has a balcony rant faces the water. Full access to the place, free breakfast, pet friendly and so nice !! I'd stay here over any other place. I travel the world and this place is great!!

View out window while eating Breakfast

Wonderful location. Ate Breakfast overlooking over the creek. Breakfast was home made fresh blueberry muffins. Staff member Betty on hand for check in and breakfast. The rooms were comfortable with ample space, great view of the creek, and other amenities to include small fridge, table and two chairs. I originally planned on staying one night, hike Mt Rogers and proceed north. I changed my mind and stayed a second night. Great value, staff, room, and view. I plan on returning with my wife next time.

Pretty waterfront view

Extremely slow kitchen, but I liked my drink and most of my meal. This place was very cute and right on the waterfront. We stopped to get a meal in hopes of sitting and enjoying the view. When my dining companion asked if we could sit outside, she was told no with no explanation. However, we saw multiple other parties come after us and get seated by the water. There were only a couple of parties inside where we got put. They were out of several of the menu options that we asked about, including coming back after we ordered to tell us that they were out of things. It took about 20 minutes from when I put in my drink order to when I actually got my drink. That being said, the Old Mill Old Fashioned was loads of fun and smoked on the table. The bartender was apologetic that it took a while. From when we placed our order to when our food came, it was about 35 mins. Our server didn't acknowledge that the wait was unusually long. I got the pimento cheese sandwich with a side of mac & cheese. I didn't realize the mac & cheese had bacon on it, but I guess I should've explicitly asked. I did ask if multiple other options had meat on them, so I'm surprised it wasn't brought up proactively. My dining companion got the BLT, and was really bummed because it had pimento cheese on it. She barely ate it because she's intolerant to spice. The menu did not say anything about pimento cheese being on that sandwich. However, given that it took a really long time for our food to come out, we made the executive decision to eat and get out of there. Overall, we don't know what happened. If all of the weird slowness had happened at a lovely outdoor table, we probably would've been okay. But I spent most of my meal trying to convince my dining companion not to walk out. Not a great experience.

Ask for rooms 305 or 306, the ones with your own balcony overlooking Laurel Creek. You'll fall asleep to the sounds of the fall after watching the herons, mallards, geese and sunset. Everything and everyone about the place is charming. We plan to return and introduce others to this inn.

Second time here. 1 year later. Food was still very good. Portions shrunk slightly and prices skyrocketed. They tell you their most up to date menu is on the website. They are charging over 50% more than what the website states. It has not been updated since 8/2023. Their staff was kind, but understaffed and inexperienced. We waited a LONG time.

It deserves 5 if we didnt get burnt (over cooked) burger. The viewbis refreshing and we enjoyed feeding little ducks under...the appetizers were great. Drinks were yummy. Our waiter was the best. We enjoyed our time there that why we didnt care that we came out lil bit hungry. We didnt have time to stay for longer while we are road tripping...The waiter took the burgers off from check which we were really appreciated... My potato stuck was the besttttttt...

I am giving 2 stars because it is a great location, probably deserves 1. The service was slow and the food was ok. The prices were too high for the mediocre food. The chicken was over done. So was the burger, that you couldn't even see once you put the top of the bun on because it was so small. This really should be a gem in the city but was honestly the worst place we went. Sit outside if you go, it's the only cool thing about it.

Ribs appetizer was fabulous!

Good food and service. Nice location on Laurel Run. Formal dining in the country town of Damascus Va.

Of course the view of the river is the star of the show with the lovely waterfall and ducks delivering an excellent floor show.

What a beautiful place to come relax and enjoy a quick trip to the NC mountains... This quaint B&B…read moreis only a short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway (maybe 5-8 minutes driving) and about 15-20 minutes drive to the Stone Mountain park. It is out of the way down a long driveway, and most likely you'll be greeted by their super friendly dog, Hunter. Jim and Margaret are great hosts, providing freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and lemonade upon arrival. The check-in process is short and sweet and they are available when you need them, but the place is big enough to give enough privacy despite the community spaces. I surprised my bf for his birthday and we came up just for one night. We stayed in the Yosemite room and it was perfect. The king bed was super comfortable, and the room had a ceiling fan, flat screen tv, electric fireplace (for ambiance and/or for heat), and the bathroom had a shower and a jacuzzi tub. It was right around the corner from the kitchen, so in terms of noise, you do hear the clinging and clanging of cooking and cabinets/drawers closing, but it wasn't a major issue for us. If you're sensitive to noise, then I would suggest getting a room on the second floor instead. Our room leads off to an external entrance to the back balcony/porch area so we could come and go from the back door instead of going through the house/common area which was nice. There is always access to coffee (fresh brewed in the morning or a Keurig for afternoon) and hot water for tea or hot chocolate. Upstairs, there is a small fridge that has complimentary can sodas and bottles of water for guests to have. I put our bottle of champagne there to chill. The highlight of the stay of course was the breakfast promptly served at 8:30a. We woke up to a beautiful spread and shared a nice breakfast with nice conversation with 12 other guests. It was family style, so we passed the food around and around until we were all miserably/happily stuffed. Margaret's famous cinnabuns were really delicious - super sweet and fresh. Overall - Everything was clean and just really done well with nice subtle touches throughout the B&B (ie. light music in the background of the common areas, fresh cut flowers in the bathroom and bedside, foaming bubble bath by the tub with a pillow, several candles in the room to assist with creating a romantic ambiance, super plush robes and Bath & Body Works shower products (soaps, shampoo, etc) to use... We definitely hope to come back and enjoy/relax again in the near future :)

This cozy little cabin has a loft bedroom with one bed and a half bath. Downstairs is a living room that is equipped with a pull out sofa bed, perfect of an eight-year-old. The grey stone fireplace and chimney occupy the center of the structure and are beautiful. The full kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, coffee-maker, cups, coffee, tea and there was a plate of fresh-baked cookies waiting for us on the table when we arrived. Just off the kitchen is a full bathroom with a fantastic Jacuzzi tub. But the piece de resistance: the most perfect "settin' porch" overlooking the creek behind. No kidding, the perfect spot for your morning coffee! In the mornings, we walked up the hill to the main house log home with another amazing porch. The innkeepers make a homemade sumptuous breakfast every morning. On the first morning, there was fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, baked grits. On the second morning, we had shirred eggs with ham, waffles, Moravian sugar bread, fruit salad. We enjoyed the breakfast at a common table with other guests, sharing our stories of our journeys and adventures. Delish!!
