They are locating right in downtown Marble Falls. There sandwiches are fresh but their signature sandwich is the chicken salad sandwich. From what I understand, they make their own bread and I have heard the make the chicken salad fresh everyday. Without question, the best chicken salad sandwich I have ever had. You have a choice of white or wheat bread and the bread is also very fresh. They serve with ruffle style chips and a pickle spear. I also had their "Club" sandwich. This is served with Ham, Turkey and Roast Beef. I understand what is on the menu, but I do not understand why they call it a club. A traditional club is a triple decker sandwich with meat (usually just turkey but sometimes turkey and ham) with bacon and cut into quarters. The "club" sandwich they serve is three meats, no bacon and not a triple decker sandwich so I am not sure why they call it a Club sandwich. It was tasty, but I ordered because I thought it would be a traditional club sandwich. In all fairness, it does not say bacon on the menu. Again, fresh sandwiches and I highly recommend. I look forward to coming back and trying some of the other sandwiches but you cannot go wrong if you order their special Chicken Salad.

My husband and I had to start with the original chicken strips to see how they were. I feel like they were okay. The chicken was moist but it also didn't have a lot of flavor either. My husband claimed that the spicy had good flavor. I realize that Layne's was established before Cane's but I tried Cane's first, so I couldn't help but compare the sauces, which look a lot alike. Layne's sauce is quite similar to Cane's but it is spicier and has a Smokey flavor that I'm not totally sure how I feel about it. The fries were okay. Not great, not bad, just, okay. They are fries. I tried three different sauces, just to see what I liked. Layne's (described above) jalapeño ranch (not my personal favorite) and the cream gravy. The gravy tastes exactly like Whataburger cream gravy to me. If you've had theirs, you know what Layne's is like. We are certainly willing to try it again. I feel like I would like to try their wrap next time. I would prefer to give it a 3.5 star vs 4, but that isn't an option and I feel like I need to like it just a little more to move my rating to a 4 or 5. The menu said penne pasta, but what arrived was a different pasta shape, rigatoni maybe, that actually worked better. The sauce filled the pasta, so every bite had plenty of flavor. The salmon was cooked nicely with a crisp exterior that added great texture to the dish. My husband ordered the shrimp po'boy, and unfortunately his experience wasn't as positive. The first sandwich had to be sent back because the shrimp were so overcooked they had the texture of chicharrones. The staff quickly remade it, but the second sandwich was only slightly better. Part of the issue seemed to be the size of the shrimp. They were quite small, which makes them much easier to overcook. Considering this is a seafood and steakhouse restaurant, we were surprised by the size and quality of the shrimp. That said, both our waiter and the manager were very kind and responsive when addressing the issue. We chose not to send the sandwich back a second time, and my husband simply didn't finish his meal. The iced tea was delicious. They prepare it tableside using something similar to a coffee press, which made it taste especially fresh. And the view? Excellent as always.

Once you're inside, you can explore a lot of the house and it blew me away how much you're able to walk around and see. There's art everywhere, tons of movie memorabilia, and it kinda feels like a Texas Chainsaw museum that just happens to serve food, which is pretty awesome. The theme isn't subtle either (in the best way). One area had a bar with a severed head behind it! There are so many little details, displays and photo moments that other horror fans are going to be obsessed with too! Even the menu is fun, with stuff like the Chicken Slaughter sandwich and the Hitchhiker's grilled chicken. I know it's cheesy, but I love it, especially when the whole place is packed with memorabilia. Food was pretty good too. The experience is definitely the main event, but the food held its own as a bar and grill, and mixing that with how cool the place is made it feel like a full stop, not just a novelty visit. Service was fine but not super standout. There were only a couple staff members actively helping people while others were cleaning up, and everyone was nice enough, just not really "above and beyond." Our food also took a while for a burger and a turkey sandwich, but honestly those are my only real complaints, and I'm only even mentioning it because I'm also here to talk about the food. It was great regardless of the wait. Upstairs has a few more Leatherface items plus some gory/spooky decor, and there's a cool little location map where you can stick a pin in to indicate how far you've visited from! They also have a creepy skin looking guest book to sign, which is such a perfect touch. One real warning though: it's an old house. In Texas, Prepare for the heat, and I mean that seriously. If you want to explore outside too, come ready. I had a UV-blocking umbrella and a face mister and I was still feeling it. Sunglasses for the grounds are a must too. Also, there's a kitty living on the porch named Tuxie, and he's a precious little buddy who loves attention. Make sure you say hi. All the shirts are hanging in the hall when you first come in. A bunch of cool designs. Only issue was my friend is a small and they don't sell smalls. I guess it's the whole everything is bigger in Texas. He was able to get a poster though. There was a 30 minute wait but it flew by. You can walk all around the property and also go upstairs to see some life size mannequins of family members. It was such a cool experience. Staff is super nice and accommodating. So finally we get to the food. Delicious. I got the chicken slaughter sandwich. It was huge. We also got the artichoke dip that was kinda thick like cream cheese. We got fried zucchini that was delicious. You get tons of food. This place is an absolute must see if you're in the area.
