Today I went, Lunar New Year, (I know, last minute), and I was still able to buy the rice cakes I needed for new year's soup. I was looking for chives in the produce area and didn't see any so I kept going. Someone working there noticed I had been looking for something and asked I about it. I told him I was looking for chives and he told me he thought they had some in the back and offered to go check for me, asking me how much I wanted, and then he brought me a nicely packaged amount. In all a great Korean market with great selection and friendly staff.

From the moment we sat down, they were attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They gave great recommendations, explained everything clearly, and made sure our grill was always set up properly. The atmosphere at Gyu-Kaku is always great -- everyone is friendly, welcoming, and the vibe is on point. The music is always good, which just adds to the overall experience and makes it even more enjoyable. Between the great food, the fun atmosphere, and Giessi's outstanding service, it's hard not to have a good time here. Honestly, if you don't like it here... that's on you. We'll definitely be back and hope to have Giessi as our server again!

My boyfriend ordered the miso ramen and really enjoyed it as well. The only downside during this visit was the fruit tea. We ordered three different drinks and they all tasted a little off. I first got the lychee fruit tea at 25% sweetness, but it honestly tasted like gardenia perfume.....No joke, I couldn't get past the first sip at all. Then tried the passion fruit tea at 50% sweetness, which was better, but it still had a strange aftertaste. My boyfriend ordered the strawberry fruit tea, and it tasted watered down. What's odd is that the fruit teas were delicious the last time i came, so maybe something was just off today. That said, the service is always great. I like that you can order either through the touchscreen kiosk or directly with the cashier. Broth is flavor packed and the contrast of the chicken and pork belly is delicious. Noodles are made perfectly too. I've also ordered the edamame (yummy), Korean chicken wings (so good!), gyoza (basic, but good), Lychee Tea (really tasty) and Curry Chicken Donburi (2 stars). Wasn't a huge fan of the Donburi, but to be fair, it was my first time ever trying it, so I may give it another shot, just to be absolutely sure. Service is good. There's a mix of regular folks and students (both servers and dining), which ensures pricing remains reasonable in order to cater to student budgets. I found pricing to be the same at both locations. I ordered the same Mama Pork Fried rice with an extra of shrimp, and I have to say, it was just as delicious as the Gables restaurant. I went again just yesterday, and food was just as delicious. I can't bring myself to order any other dish because it's so delicious. Dish flavor, look and texture are consistent too, not just within the same restaurant, but at least across those two locations I've visited, and I've attended twice to both locations ordering the same fried rice - it is always 'identically delicious'. I tried my friend's dishes, and they were all good, and while they wouldn't be my choice, they were all yummy.
