The prime rib was for my birthday dinner so my husband left his phone number with them. He received a call later that day asking if the prime rib should be fresh or frozen. They wanted to make sure it did not get frozen if it was being used right away. He advised fresh and commented at what good customer service it was to make the distinction. We went together for pick up. The person who helped us when through the entire smoker bundle to show us the contents and then got the rib roast. Everything was well packaged and arranged. Even though it was the Friday before a religious holiday, and many folks were picking things up, it did not take long for us to get our order, pay and be on our way. The meats we have received both on this order and in the past have always been high quality. Edwards is an excellent butcher shop.

So, this is an experience. Such a cool old building with so much history hanging on the walls and…read moredoor frames and ceiling, etc. it's like walking into a time capsule of the late 1800s/early 1900s Wild West. Very cool!! The food was good but not great. For the price, I'd expect something a little better but the beef tenderloin was cooked exactly the way I ordered it (complete with peppercorn crust). It was tender but maybe a bit dryer than I like for a filet. The peppercorn crust was amazing! The Saratoga chips are made in house and they are very good as well. Super crispy with the right amount of salt. We got a history lesson from one of the servers, about 10min worth of backstory about the restaurant and it was almost like dinner and a show. Parking is a bit tight if they're busy but it's downtown Denver so that's typical. Other than the price being a bit high for the quality, this place is a good time and a good meal.

We were traveling from out of state and saw a tiktok about this place. We decided we needed to give…read moreit a try since it has history. This was by far the worst part of our trip to Denver... be warned. Parking: There is free parking in the back of the building. When we first walked in we were greeted and brought to our reserved tables upstairs. If you decide to try this place, get a reservation and do downstairs. There is so much more to look at downstairs! Instead, we were brought to a backroom that was much cooler(in temp) and had way less to look at... we felt "put into the corner." It was busy, and it appeared they were short staffed. It took a long time for our server to get to us. She was very sweet and I definitely felt for her, she was really trying! However, it took awhile to get our drinks, the complimentary bread came out after our appetizer and house salads... anything complimentary should come out right away. The food: We got the Rocky Mountain oysters and I actually thought they were good! The cocktail sauce is very tomato forward and the "horseradish sauce" was a joke! There was absolutely no flavor and I am convinced it was just sour cream! If you do order these, ask for their ranch- it was dill flavored and delicious! The house salad was good But wet... like I had water on my plate. If you want a Caesar Salad it will cost an extra 7.50!!!!!!!!! Why!? That doesn't make any sense! The complimentary sourdough was good but the whipped butter had no taste at all... we had to sprinkle some salt on it for it to actually taste decent. We got the New York strip 16oz and the Elk steaks. The New York strip was the worst steak we have ever had! It was supposed to be cooked to a medium but was definitely closer to a medium rare. The butter on top did not have any flavor and was pointless. It had a fair amount of fat on it and the crust tasted "ashy" to us. It was expensive so we ate it, but terrible! The mashed potatoes were not mashed well! I had a whole potato in it! The veggies were mushy and overcooked. The elk steaks were actually very good! I would recommend that! The wild rice was brown rice with a few wild rice pieces... and again mushy veggies! The total price for one alcoholic drink, one bottled soda, a half order of Rocky Mountain oysters, the New York strip and elk steaks was over $200 with tip. We went to the restrooms afterwards and they were disgusting and dirty! If we are spending over $200 on a meal it better be great service, food and ambiance! This missed the mark HEAVILY! If you do feel the need to go here, get a table downstairs, make a reservation, get the Rocky Mountain oysters with the dill ranch and the elk steaks.

Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Service is quick! Food was also good. Bison Taretare was delicious especially with the sauce and the cilantro. I did wish the quail egg was a not over cooked. I think the yolk would have been a great addition to the creaminess. But that's just my preference. The Fort Game plate was good to share! Shared it with my wife. Bison had a rich and natural umami. They cook it so well! Venison was honestly our fav. Cooked so well and super tender. Had the compound better on it too so flavor was excellent. Went really well with their berry sauce. The quail was also cooked juicy and tender, but I feel like the teriyaki taste was unbalanced. Some bites were a lil too salty while others were just right! Potatoes (not pictured) were too salty for my taste but the carrots were super delicious! Great place for a date night and would recommend.

April 5th, 2025 6PM…read more A friend treated us with a gift card for my birthday after she's stopped by and had an amazing experience herself. We were so lucky to get to come here for "free" as a treat from our friend. The atmosphere, the experience, the service and the food were all amazing. Very unique to Colorado. We started with a 1/2 liter pitcher of Prickly Pear Margaritas, shared across the 3 of us. Not only is it pretty to look at, it's also very tasty. Much more reasonable than to order 3 cocktails separately. We started with the Rocky Mountain Oysters, the batter was nicely done, light and airy. The RMO always has a chew, so if you're not a texture person, I'd recommend to skip it unless you've never tried it before. Def worth a try as it's a Colorado staple. We also tried the Josepha's Buffalo Empanadas, those were so yummy as well with the 2 salsas. Not everyone is a bone marrow fan but we really loved the Roasted Bison Marrow Bones, it did take extra time but it came to our table still sizzling, and really rich with the bread. Moving on to Main Course - I had the Incorrect Steak with fried egg, it was very tender and delicious. We also ordered the Gonzales Steak, yummy with the hatch green chiles. The Fort's Game Plate was a big platter of elk chop, buffalo sirloin medallion and a grilled teriyaki quail... you get to try them all. Favorite Mac and Cheese was so creamy... and we ordered the Spotted Dog Bread Pudding as a dessert to wrap up the birthday celebration. Overall it's a bit on the pricy side for all of the experience but we're really thankful to get to try so many things and add this to our Colorado experience.
