Dale's employees like Ed are a fixture of Athol, Orange, and this region of Massachusetts. When I say a fixture, I mean that they're a member of the community and aren't shy to show it. Just listen to how Ed helped me out when I needed a jump, a tow, and his expertise. So, there I was, at a Sunoco near Route 2. My battery and starter had finally given up the ghost after 10 years of a powerful battery finally being unable to crank my car one more time. But how was I supposed to know after it had jumped and started in the past? So, as I parked at Sunoco, expecting to jump my car, I was shocked by the bad news, and by not putting the positive connection on first. My car wouldn't start. In the cold, I asked my tow truck neighbor, parked, if he could try jumping me. I said I didn't have any money but I had an AAA membership. Ed, his name I learned later as he DID need to come back to tow me, wasn't about to ask for any help. His job was to first make sure people knew Dale's was there and that he was, too. Sure enough, his jumper pack didn't work, and Ed has the experience to boot. "I smell something," was his remark and our common experience. He was confident I had a problem bigger than my jump. So I asked if he could give me a tow with AAA, and he said, sure, as I had a premiere membership and they tow quite a long distance. I just had to call up and see if Dale's was assigned. After I had finally found my new membership card's number, I was relieved to see who was arriving to do my tow. It was Ed!! From Dale's!! He was only a few minutes away, and maybe he informed his dispatch that I'd be calling with a tow any minute. Thank goodness if this is true, because his dispatch caring more about a new call versus a definite need meant Ed had to travel only 10 minutes to get back to me. He had space in his truck to carry me and my child who was managing this displeasure very well this day! The good news for us was that I had a ride coming to get us, so Ed could take my car to a shop I had imagined might help instead of my house. I mentioned their name in Amherst (Gil's), and he knew them, and even told me where. Incredible. I felt like I was part of a support network thanks to Ed and Dale's being aware of the area. Inside the Sunoco, I met their local convenience support, who recognized my tow truck driver. "He's a great guy," was Julie's remark, which I was glad to hear her say. She had already entertained my child and could affirm Ed would get my car where I needed. I can't say if Dale's Auto Body can do a perfect job since they seem to be wearing a lot of hats in this area. However, they aren't some external corporate body, they're local people who care about their reputation and try to do their best with what they got. I have been dealing with this business lying to me about storage fees and what not and both dispatchers that work in the office are clueless as it gets with the tow yard and they need to be shut down because they are also trying to tell me that I can't get my personal property out of my vehicle. read more

I would not recommend anyone doing business with Dale's Auto Body and Towing. I brought my car in because it was shaking whenever I hit my brakes. I was told to bring the car into the shop either the night before or that day, and I chose the night before. The next time they called me, I was told that the car was fixed and ready to get picked up. I came in, paid for the service, and left with my car. However, the issue I had brought it in for was not fixed, The shaking was still happening when I used my brakes. I immediately went back and asked Dale to come with me on a drive so I can point out the issue. During the ride, he kept arguing that I needed front brakes instead of admitting that they didn't understand what I was asking for and just fixing what they wanted to. Dale would not fix the issue without me paying more money. In short, I brought my car in, and only wanted them to fix the shaking. They did work I didn't authorize, but did not fix my shaking issue. I was not given a diagnostic and I was not given a quote before these repairs were done. Very poor customer service, I would never trust them with my vehicle again. read more

Liars and thieves with attitude. I brought my car in for some paint touchups. Not only did he not do the job I paid for, but I also got my car back with three major dents. The new owner swore on his son that Those dents were there when I dropped my car off. Even though you could see the scuff marks near where it was dented, scuff marks that I could wipe off with my finger. They also didn't bother to wash my car before doing paint touchups. And even though he was supposed to remove my door handles to paint them, there is clear over spray all over my doors near my door handles, 10 out of 10 do not recommend. read more

Liars and thieves. $1000 after trying to say the insurance company are the crooks. NEVER use them for ANYTHING! He told my son he had no skin in the game, well $1000 is a LOT of skin. I saw the other reviews and just have to chime in because AAA has sent Dale's to me on at least five occasions and I've never had a problem with them. Most times, I'm towing from my house, not the side of the road, so I can't speak to that scenario. The one time I dealt with Dale for a repair, he was great, and so far, the tow drivers have been friendly. I like that they have a flat-bed tow truck (I request it per being told that was better for my particular car). read more

Towed my truck 5 min down the road for over 100. Had to leave it while I paid toll tickets for 35 per day. If not picked up by 10am it was another day.... So ofcourse rmv needs 24 hr to acknowledge payments, so two days go by. I call and ask if I can schedule to come pick up and she states by 4pm, yet they are 24-7. I go there the next morning and what should have been a 213 bill for a 15 min hook up and tow, 3 days storage... I get hit with some early release charge aswell and get charged 263.00. Just not a good look for a small town tow company! Top it off they demanded cash only.... and I had to request a receipt! Little fishy!!! read more

This morning, I was stranded on the side of the road, very far from home. I called AAA and this is who they sent me (I'm not sure of the mans name, he was rude from the get go and I asked him to stop yelling at me, and after that, he wouldn't give me his name). He was telling me that we were going to tow it to get gas, but AAA had told me something different, so I was confused. Instead of explaining to me why I was getting different stories, he said "this is what we're doing." I had no choice, I was stuck, so we went to the gas station and I put gas in it. The ignition key is stuck, so we couldn't start it to check if it's running, which he knew before going there, but he made it clear that we were going to two different gas stations because "he needed a slushee." Great. That's what I need. After going over my options (which were basically none...he told me I had to bring t where AAA said to or to his shop) we went o where AAA suggested - they said that they couldn't see it for a week! I got on the phone with AAA to ask where the next closest place was, and while I was on the phone with them, he was taking my car off of his truck! I asked what he was doing, and he said "I don't have time for these games" and kept going. He left me there stranded, 70 miles from home, when all it would have taken was a few minutes on the phone with AAA to figure out where to go from there. If you're on the area and need emergency service, or if AAA sends them, turn them away. I wish I could give less than one star. Forget poor customer service, I'm appalled that someone would treat another person this way. read more

worst service ever!! never use them. they told me they would come pull my truck out of the snow at 7 am said they would be there in a hour. Came at 3pm and said nope can't help you. i call aaa and after saying multiple times don't send dales up and they do anyways and no they claim that the fully paved road is inaccessible. said they won't come. AAA said they can't help us now until tomorrow. leaving me stranded now for almost 12 hours. this is crazy. Had to call out of work because they don't want to do their job. It's winter what do they want me to do. NEVER USE THIS PLACE! read more
