Let me tell you something, Indique. Come closer.
YOU'RE AMAZING! (Yet, I give 4 stars you say. I wish Yelp had a 1/2 star system and I'd give Indique 4.5 stars).
I took my best friend and my Mother and let's just say, she doesn't like Indian food. I know she was NOT looking forward to this, but the trooper came because I'd heard good things. I, before this eye-opening experience that was Indique, was not the biggest fan of Indian food either, but I so desperately wanted to be a fan, desperately, and Indique was able to make my dreams come true.
We had:
-Mussels a la Indique- THE SHIZNIT. I kid you not. A huge service of wonderful mussels, and the sauce is the real star. I literally drank it like a bowl of soup at the end. We also dipped our naan in it. M'mm M'mm M'mm.
-Paneer Shashlik (A homemade cheese brochette with onion, tomato and green pepper). Absolutely Delicious. My Mother's favorite of the evening.
-Mini Chicken Dosas. Enjoyed by all, except me. Had a spice I didn't like. Eh, try em. It's me.
- Salmon Tikki (Atalntic Salmon Cakes with shallots, ginger, cumin and tomoato chutney)- Not bad, tasted alright, but we honestly didn't know this was the Salmon dish. We nearly asked our server if there'd been a mistake. Needless to say, the Cakes were NOT very Salmon tasting. I'd pass on these.
Entrees:
- Tandoori Chicken Chop - My Mother and I shared and took home a substantial amount. This meal is a very decent portion, quite large. I saw the table next to us ordered some, too and they also took home nearly 1/2 of the meal. The tandoori was good. Not the best I've had, but definitely a contender.
-Chicken Curry Indique. My friend had this meal and he loved it. I have to say, I by in large have NOT been a fan of curry, but this curry was very tame. It was light and the coconut milk was such a heavenly addition. A BIG win.
Breads: Made fresh to order. All A+
-Naan
-Onion Kulcha
- Garlic Naan
For Dessert:
-Gulab with Ice Cream(My favorite)
- The other guests can't remember what they had, but they liked it better than my Gulab. M'hmm. Maybe then you'd remember what it was called?! It was an icre-cream like dessert, cut in slices with an orange sauce. That's all I got.
And now for why it's only 4.5 stars.
1)They have weird hours. We showed up for lunch. No lunch during the week. Weird.
2) I called ahead to make a reservation and was told they don't take reservations the day of. WTF? Okay...
3) I was encouraged to come right away. They couldn't take a reservation, since it was the day of, but there was no wait and they thought I'd only have to wait 20 minutes at most.
4) When we arrived, we were told the wait would be about 20 minutes and at the time there was only one other party waiting, a party of two.We went, we waited for 45 minutes. The place was packed and I believe it was the last day of a large promotion, but it just seemed like the wait for a party of 3 was exhaustively long especially because they kept telling us they were cleaning the table.
GO and MAKE RESERVATIONS! (The day ahead of course). read more
