In the back there is a nice room where they show a film of the whole process. There are alot of different shaped bottles and gift like things to bring home. My first time visiting Vermont. I have to say this was a great stop and we got some tasty cheese and of course maple syrup. They have free tasting for the syrup, and I suggest tasting them all. Cheese, Syrup, Wine - oh my! Dakin Farm is like the Disneyland of Vermont, a place where taste buds dance and dreams come true. You can make a free meal out of all of the different samples displayed across the store, you can stock up on flannel jammies and local wines, cheeses, and of course, maple in any shape or form you could possibly imagine. My family stopped here on an impromptu drive through a very rural area of Vermont, and we easily spent over an hour exploring the store, sampling the goodies, and photographing the beautiful scenery. This is the place to find unique souvenirs and holiday gifts. Even if you're not a tourist, this is a great spot to support local business and stock up on quality eats and spreads - sure to make any snack or meal a winner. The staff was lovely, and they definitely don't oversell or pressure their customers - their goods sell themselves. I'd highly recommend the blackberry/ maple froyo swirl. We stopped here on our way out of Vermont for some Vermont souvenirs and maple syrup and cheese. It was definetely a tourist trap and the prices reflected that! Even so, it was super cute and clean and the employees were incredibly friendly. I was happy to get things for my loved ones to show them where I have been. The fresh fudge counter was so cute. I stopped here when passing by on Rt 7. It's a very nice store. They have the maple syrup making facility connected to it. I think the employee was making fudge there on site too. The "kitchens" were not open to customers, but they were visible. They carry their own maple syrup of course. And maple candy, fudge, cookies and more. There was local bacon and other meats, some with samples. Some jams. Some chocolate bars. Even some cheese. If you arrive here not hungry there are t-shirts and some other clothing items you can browse. This is a tourist stop, but when I was there plenty of locals picking up some meats and cheeses too. Glad we stopped here for our first Vermont creemee! The maple and blackberry swirl was delicious, and there was a park bench outside to enjoy it while social distancing. All employees wore masks properly. Loved the wide range of Vermont specialties, and picked up a small round of cobb smoked Gouda, cheddar "cheese ends", chili jam, horseradish maple mustard, and maple barbecue sauce. Lot's of non-pork options, and we were delighted to find smoked turkey bacon. Fantastic farm shop! This road side farm stand beckoned us in with their red barn and giant maple syrup bottle out front. And the moment I stepped in I knew we did well to stop. Wow! So much goodies! You can get everything from maple syrup (duh!) to cured meats and sausages, various cheeses and jellies and even other home made sweet and savory treats. It is amazing! And they have plenty of samplers around so we practically bought everything we tried. And guess what? They ship anywhere in the US! I honestly don't know if there is enough I can say about how much I love Dakin Farm. There are times we come here twice a day during our yearly summer trips to Vermont. The farm is located off of Route 7 in North Ferrisburgh. Its an adorable building divided into about 3 or 4 sections including an area for Maple Syrup, meats and SO MANY cheeses, Jams, Jellys, Honey, freshly made fudge and peanut butter. There are dips, popcorn, maple candies, and I could go on. Not to mention there are samples of EVERYTHING! I have to admit, we have had "lunch" at the Dakin Farm sample extravaganza before. Dakin carries both their own brand of meats and cheese, but also supplies items from local farms and businesses as well. Like Cabot, the Charlotte Village Winery, etc... Meat: We regularly purchase the Kabanos (and extra long skinny sausage that is meant to eat sort of like slim jams), the bacon, and maple breakfast sausages. Everything was AMAZING! The prices are a little higher than a grocery store but thats what you get for farm fresh! Cheese: (I'm only going to review the Dakin Farm made cheese). They have a cob smoked cheddar cheese that is out of this world! There is gouda, swiss, and an extra sharp premium cheddar as well. The cob smoked cheddar is my absolute favorite. You can get it in a regular bar or coated in wax. We also way buy the regular for our stay here, then get a few wax to bring back to Florida. I have so many favorites that I will probably have to look in my pantry and update this review. The staff here is always very friendly but not overly engaged. There is a good reason too; they all appear to be working behind the register. But honestly, everything is pretty self explanatory unless you need a fresh cut of their deli meat or some fudge (Which is amazing and made fresh everyday!) read more

Great little farm store off the road! Plenty of parking (buses are welcomed in the back parking lot) and easy access. Inside holds a lot of fun treats! There are locally sourced cheeses and kielbasas right up front, with available testing pots for many of the products. In fact, throughout the store you will find samples of countless products! It's amazing, jellies, relishes (spicy and sweet), butter spreads, maple syrups, honeys, plus numerous cheeses and sausages! I'm probably forgetting some, to be honest. I think the samples that I appreciated the most were for the maple syrup. With the different grades of syrup out there, it's always a little hard to just guess and take a chance on one of them. Here, they supply three different bottles with bartenders pour spouts to taste each of their grades. What a relief to be able to try before you purchase! Aside from these things, they have frozen goods (ready to bake pies and savory dishes), flours (some with specific uses), homemade fudges, and household textiles. Definitely worth the stop! The meats and the cheeses are the best in Vermont. The store is fun to visit, as there are little samples scattered here and yon. One can purchase prepared foods, maple syrup ( in several different grades and sizes), smoked ham and turkey products, sausages, prepared ribs, cheese and cheese spreads, mustard, pickles, and jars of jams and jellies, as well as artisan crackers. We were driving down US HWY 7 and stumbled across this amazing place. Samples galore! The smoked corn cob gouda, maple syrup, and the meats ALL THE MEATS stand out as must buy items. The employees were all so friendly and they are not pressuring you into anything. We wandered from isle to isle, tasting sooooo many things. They make a bunch of products in-house and have a bunch of different areas. One of my favorite spots was the maple syrup tasting. You get to try a bunch of different kinds. Who knew that maple syrup came in so many grades and flavor profiles. We ended up picking up a bottle to bring home! Driving down a pastoral stretch of Rte 7 when - BAM! - you've been Dakin'd. If you're cruising at the speed limit, you'll have just enough time to screech/cut over and explore the red building of intrigue, smoked meats, hard cheeses and all the jams. It's a market, first and foremost, featuring mostly Vermont-made goods that partner nicely with the holy trinity of house products: meat, cheese, and maple syrup. And to those three, natural casing "Slim Jims" hit the spot at a buck a piece, half a dozen cheeses (mostly variants of cheddar) are out for tasting and avail by the block, and that syrup though! Grade B Amber is used for cooking? Eff that noise - it's my table syrup now. So bold, a little rough, and loaded with natural maple goodness... it's the high-percentage rye in your whiskey cabinet. Abandon hope, ye of the light golden Grade A school. Everything mentioned so far is to the left of the entrance, and the right is dominated by jams, mustards, and other assorted spreads. Ever since we put maple syrup over pancakes, Aunt Jemima is a thing of the past. And ever since we ate pancakes with maple syrup fresh from the boiling pan, it's hard to settle for syrup from the bottle. And that's why we made a trek all the way to this farm. Every year, toward the end of March, a Vermont Maple Open House Weekend is celebrated and several farms participate and welcome the public to their grounds. Check out http://www.vermontmaple.org/open-house.html for next year's schedule. We chose Dakin Farm for their all-you-can-eat breakfast plus other activities they have promoted. Breakfast was great. They cooked everything on the spot-- the pancakes, the sausages, the bacon and of course, the maple syrup. But before you get your breakfast, you have to fall in a long line that serpents around the smokehouse. Consider it a free tour! And as you come close to the breakfast assembly line, payment is collected. Pay by cash or credit card. When we visited last March, Pancake Breakfast was $6.75 for adults and $3.38 for children, exclusive of tax. Then, they'll give you a plate and give you a few pieces of everything. Bottles of maple syrup stand waiting on tables all around the store. But we took some of the fresh samples given out at the smokehouse and used those. The experience was sweet. But, I think it would've been sweeter if everybody didn't have to wait that long for their breakfast. I mean, if it's an eat-all-you-can thing, people can just serve themselves, right? With such a long line, you would just get discouraged if you fell one sausage short. After breakfast, there seemed nothing much to do except to browse at their other products. We expected some live music going on and some guided tours showing maple tree tapping but things were going slow that day. Save for a giant maple syrup bottle and an old tractor that the kids clambered on, there wasn't much for us to see anymore. So we bid goodbye to the farm. If interested only in their products, they have a store on Dorset Street in Burlington. You'll only miss out on the smoke that makes you smell like fresh maple sap. read more

We've been here a few times. Make no mistake, it's a tourist trap. Some of their products are good though, so you can forgive that a little bit. The store is large, but cluttered and usually packed with people. There are tons of free samples, but I do question how long some of them have been sitting out for. As others have said, you can find some of these products better and cheaper elsewhere though. The maple syrup is my husband's favorite though and I like the smoked turkey. Worth a stop, but if the parking lot is packed you may be better off visiting another time. read more

This is a must see in a trip to Vermont. First, the prices are super reasonable. Second, you get to taste basically everything worth buying and it tastes good! Third, it's off the beaten path a bit so I suspect it's never too too packed with tourists though it definitely is a solid tourist destination for anyone desiring to taste vermont (which, tip, should be everyone). The only reason it doesn't get five stars is that it is a bit of a deviation from any major city or attraction in Vermont so it's slow to get to and isn't very much on the way to most things. I also which that someone had approached me while I was shopping to give me some direction with my purchases. Service was extremely friendly once I was purchasing but not very attentive before then. Overall though, I can't complain, they have some awesome treats including soda made from maple sap and Lake Champlain chocolates. This farm store is more of a tourist attraction than most and it has a huge variety of Vermont origin foods. The items that are Dakin Farm specific include their cheeses, their maple sugar products and a lot of smoked foods. They produce an excellent cheddar cheese with a nice sharp flavor that is mildly complex. The standout cheese at this location is their smoked cheddar. This cheddar is perhaps the best smoked cheese that I have tried with a strong and somewhat sweet smoked flavor and a simultaneous tangy cheddar flavor. This location (there is also one in Burlington) has a lot of samples available for tasting, as usual, the aged sharp cheese (in addition to the smoked) is the best. read more
