Before going to Ace French dry cleaners, I went to several other cleaners closer to my residence, but unfortunately, no one could Steam the dress the same day. Peter and his family took it upon themselves to stop everything they were doing and steam the dress for me on the spot without question, even though I was never a customer there before. While waiting for the dress, I had the opportunity to observe how they treat their customer , and it makes me so happy to know that there are still family operated businesses out there that care not only about the work they do but the people who bring them business. Upon entering the store, it seemed like they knew everybody and greeted everyone by their first name with a warm loving smile and polite chit chat! I usually don't write yelp reviews, but I felt overwhelmingly compelled that I had to let everyone possible know about my experience that a Desperate situation into one of extreme happiness and hope. Ace French dry cleaners is a family owned business with a lot of heart and compassion runner by people who love what they do and love the people that they serve. Which is why I was shocked and majorly frustrated when I brought in my beautiful brand new white winter down jacket that they said they could clean. The coat had an attached faux fox collar of white fake fur that was beautiful. Stacy the counter person said they could clean it. I was charged $15 for my coat. When I picked it up it was completed wrinkled, filthy dirty and the beautiful faux fur collar was destroyed. I immediately said the coat is dirty and the collar was destroyed!!! It melted in the cleaning process into what looks and feels like a rough hair curler. Stacy, a woman Ive been friendly and chatted with for months, did not apologize, did not offer my money back, did not offer a coupon for my next cleaning...did NOT EVEN MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH ME. My beautiful brand new $120 coat was ruined and she didnt care at all. Just pulled it from me and said we will clean it again and brush out thr collar. I was so upset I didnt go back for 3 weeks. I finally got the coat and it was exactly the same. Dirty and ruined. There were other people in the store so I did not embarass her but quietly left. The seamstress can do anything, for example I came a few years ago for a bridesmaid (we know those dresses are made to be boxy). She altered the dress to actually fit perfectly. More recently, I had a running tank top I got from a race and she figured out how to alter the backside seams so it wasn't baggy on me (veesus making the sleeves shorter which would've made it look weird). Both times, they flat-out said no. I decided to take a chance and visited Magic Cleaners in Matawan -- and I'm so glad I did. I walked in with the blanket and was greeted by a woman who was sweet, efficient, and clearly knew her craft. She inspected the blanket and immediately agreed to hem it, no fuss. I wasn't looking for anything fancy -- just a clean finish to keep it from unraveling. I told her there was no rush, but she had it ready in under a week. Not only was the work immaculately done, but she charged me just $25. I even offered to pay more because the quality was honestly beyond what I expected -- but she politely declined, saying she was just happy to gain a new customer. Well, she absolutely did.
