After over 10 years of loyalty to a dry cleaner in Sayreville, I was disappointed when they recently refused two simple alteration requests: one to sew down the pockets of a fleece hoodie, and another to hem the edges of a blanket that was fraying. Both times, they flat-out said no. I decided to take a chance and visited Magic Cleaners in Matawan -- and I'm so glad I did. I walked in with the blanket and was greeted by a woman who was sweet, efficient, and clearly knew her craft. She inspected the blanket and immediately agreed to hem it, no fuss. I wasn't looking for anything fancy -- just a clean finish to keep it from unraveling. I told her there was no rush, but she had it ready in under a week. Not only was the work immaculately done, but she charged me just $25. I even offered to pay more because the quality was honestly beyond what I expected -- but she politely declined, saying she was just happy to gain a new customer. Well, she absolutely did. I'll now happily go out of my way to drive to Matawan just because of the amazing service I received here. Thank you again -- I'll definitely be back soon! read more

Never before has a dry cleaner damaged one of my garments but this place has managed to do it in unique ways each time I gave them my business. The first time a button was destroyed upon pickup, I chalked it up to me misremembering, thinking I must've broken it myself. The second time, the top button of a nearly brand new suit jacket came back shattered & half of it missing, with the item tag for the pants stapled directly into the fabric. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I dropped off five hoodies -- all with their drawstrings -- and the most expensive one came back missing its strings. Instead of taking responsibility or even attempting to resolve the issue, the woman working there immediately got defensive, raised her voice at me, and told me to "check my house," as if I don't know what condition my own clothing was in when I brought it in. She did a bare minimum, one-second glance in the back, claimed she didn't see anything, and promised to call me before closing. Of course, she never called. The complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and customer service is unbelievable. If you value your clothes -- especially anything designer or expensive -- do NOT bring them here. If you need alteration and dry cleaning for your clothes this the best spot to go too. The lady that works the front is legit. I got a few pants hem, she nailed on the spot even jogger pants. Always greeting me with a big smile and makes me feel at home. All my things are finished in a timely manner and everytime i pick up my things, its as good as new. I brought two winter coats to be cleaned on a Monday. I was told they would be ready on Saturday. I went Saturday afternoon and was told both coats would not be ready until Monday. I went back on Monday and was told they were still not ready. The coats were not ready until Tuesday afternoon - 8 days after the original drop off, and 4 days later than promised. Although the woman was apologetic, I had wasted enough time going back and forth and had made up my mind that I would not be doing business here anymore. When I got home and took the coats out of the plastic, one of the down jackets was damaged. A snap had been ripped off of the sleeve and down was coming out of the hole where the snap was torn. In addition, there are scratches on all of the snaps on the front of the coat and on the sleeves. This is a fairly new coat that had only been worn a few times this season.
