You could call it a touristy store but if that's what you call it, then it's a 5 star one. The T-shirts are screen printed there. Some jewelry is by PakHye (?) which features areas very unique to the Pacific NW. There are other pieces of interesting jewelry also. Fish flags are there to catch the wind. There are hats and socks and purses and bags. In addition there are little creatures to catch the eye of your little ones. There are so many good quality items in this store that it is definitely worth the visit. Great store and friendly person running it.

I have since returned multiple times and it is somehow even cuter in person! They have so many unique goodies whether shopping for a gift or yourself: prints and other artwork, stationary, ceramics (including such cute mugs), art supplies (indigenous handmade paints!), bath and body items (Wato soap, yes please!), housewares, treats, adorable accessories and clothing, etc. Many items are local, too! They are always really friendly and nice in the shop, and it's just such a pleasure to wander. I honestly think my mom, sisters, and I nearly spent an hour there. If you can, time it so you can check out the Sunday Astoria Farmers market while there. Parking is not great as it's right in the middle of downtown Astoria, but that's just the nature of the beast, and worth it!

More unexpectedly, the Mount St. Helens Gift Shop also seems devoted to all things Big Foot. They stock a larger selection of t-shirts, hoodies etc displaying Sasquatch than I've ever seen before. There is also a large (8'!)stuffed doll who is available for photos....unlike his corporeal cousins! There is also a smatering of other local items. We bought a jug of marionberry jam that comes with a top to make it a salt or pepper shaker when you finish off the jam.

It reopened in 2025 after being closed for renovations and I have to…read moresay, the architecture is GORGEOUS with vaulted ceilings and large windows to let in the surroundings. There's wood paneling which helps you feel immersed into nature. There's an informational desk about the area, helpful for visitors newish to the area or those with questions. The gift shop is also accessible with the usual offerings of post cards, tchotchkes, and such. Do note that the restrooms are accessible outdoors at the side of the building. There's a pay area part of the center which is $5/18+, $2.50/7-17, free for 6 years old or younger, and family $15 for 2 adults and children 7-17 years old. They also honor veteran's disabled pass, WA state disabled pass, and senior limited income pass. It's definitely worth the admission, since there's a lot of exhibits explaining the geology of the area, the flora and fauna, the native peoples, and the later commercial and recreational uses of the area. There's even a place where you can walk into a huge mock up of Mt St Helens! Very fun. They have a short film playing about the eruption too. I didn't get to explore much outside as it was super rainy, but I saw a boardwalk trail out in the back. I did not see Mt St Helens due to the weather, but I'll be back when the weather is nicer!

This shop has a great aesthetic, clearly relating to their coastal location, but also modern and clean enough to be right at home on any of the main shopping drags back in Portland. It has a varied inventory, and I found myself impressed with some of the art, a number of gorgeous reclaimed-wood serving platters, and great fragrances (both in candles and sprays). They had a nice selection of plants, and for the holidays were selling some really lovely wreaths. I highly recommend giving this shop a browse. And let's not forget Gus, the shop dog. I was a dummy and forgot to snap a pic. But let me tell you this, he's a VERY good boy.

Weird Sisters has clothing, jewelry, nik-naks, antiques (like a typewriter) and more. The owner was kind and steered us into the other mysterious looking rooms (there is an "entry room" where it's motion activated and lights go off and music plays...really fun!...). The lighting differs from space to space and it's done as if a theatrical stage. Very unique, playful and creative. A humorous and cool experience~!
