I had a pretty large search area set to find ice cream -- but what attracted me to this location (of all the possible ones over 3.5 hours) was actually the cool name and colorful pictures I saw. So what you'll find here is a small, family owned restaurant -- the decor is quirky, the flavors are quirky, and vibe is quirky -- but that's what also makes it charming. The staff is super friendly and the ice cream is creamy, tasty, and fresh. This shop is probably not worth a special detour over 200 miles, but if you're in the Dekalb / Sycamore area -- it's a nice place to stop by and have some ice cream (and a selfie with the signs).

Okay, now I had to buy TWO scoops. My wife ordered their Bourbon Pecan Pie, which tasted really good. We tried each others. Let me talk about the Zanzibar Chocolate - it was very hard ice cream - working at it with a plastic spoon only made it better when I got a piece broken off. It was SOOOO chocolaty it was amazing. The Black Cherry ice cream was softer, so I went after that first. It had chunks of black cherries in it that tasted like black cherries - yummy! Tables are available to on the west side of the business, and the order area is sheltered (which we appreciated when we were there due to the drizzling rain. If we go back down Rt 173, we'll be stopping at this place. There are a few bike paths in the area, so why not make a stop here after a good ride, and get some sweet to eat carbs?
